Much has been said about how Alt Unfriendly the current GW2 WvW environment is, but I would add that Soul Bound items particularly Ascended is both build and alt unfriendly.

Ascended materials are time gated or extra-ordinarily expensive for refined time gated materials (such as deldrimor ingots). Players that want to enjoy a variety of builds or several alts are locked into grinding massive amounts of gold/materials to keep their players inline with more single minded players.

If soul bound was changed to account bound, many players could create a few sets of items to be shared among alts and builds. The material cost while still staggering in cost would be somewhat manageable rather than almost unobtainable.

Never gonna happen i’m afraid, Anet wants us to grind like lifeless robots or pump money into the gem store which is why they have made them so ridiculously hard to obtain.
