I know there is 1001 posts about this and I don’t honestly care. Fix rendering issues, like yesterday. It’s now no longer funny. Fix this. somehow, make it your number one priority.
I don’t want anymore horrible laggy “special” events, I’d like you to dedicate some real time and resource to something that is breaking WvW and sPvP with thieves/mesmers benefiting from the delay before you can see them.

Culling and “lagging” special events are two different problems.
The culling issue comes from how 3d objects and textures are stored/removed in memory. This is a very root engine fix and could take a long time to fix as this affects everything displayed. This will require more than a few tweaks. This fix will probably take a few more months.
As for lagging events. This was just a matter of not having enough CPU and hardware division of all the players. Not cramming everyone at one single point in time globally will fix this.

As a new to GW2 player I can’t believe that the game shipped with this. I am astonished that it existed in GW1 and people just lived with it for years.
It’s a complete and utter non-starter, a must-fix bug that somehow they’ve spun into an engine feature.
Everything about combat relies on awareness. I’d rather have awareness and information than ‘ooh, pretty’ visuals.
Bring on the stick men. Standardize all models/gear/weapons in WvW for profession/race combinations. I’d still play, probably even more than now.

Id be fine with this.
We dont really need to see all the different armors on the enemy, we just need to see the enemy. We dont even care to see what weapon they have…
Can not be fixed in wvw , live with it , I rolled a thief and when the next rvr is out I will move on
While I agree it needs fixed, I can’t imagine the devs saw the last 1000 posts and went “Hmmmmmmmmmm… culling. Maybe we should consider doing something about that” and then see this post and say, “Someone get Mike Ferguson on the phone, we gotta fix this kitten, pronto!”
If it gets to be too much, play some Planetside 2, and keep an eye out for the inevitable solution. ANet always said the beauty of no subs was that you could go off and play other games when you feel like it. Sounds like you feel like it. It’s ok, we’ll be here when you get back. No hard feelings.
I almost promise you it’ll be fixed before ESO’s launch. It’ll have to be.

But seriously I completely agree. For a game that was in development for like 5 years it kind of bugs me that they honestly have it in the game….and that you can’t preview items from the TP….and how badges in WvW work…and the severe lack of chat window options for a game that strives to be more social then other mmos….and the fact that we don’t have the slightest bit of UI customization….and how they emphasized how awesome guilds would be but they really arent much different then other guilds in other MMO’s with the exception of being able to be in 5…and how they release patches that fix certain bugs only to end up bugging different things that were working perfectly fine before…and how avid WvW players have no form of ranks or worthy rewards…
I love this game…but I do feel like they neglected a lot of little things that make a big difference.
Better clip plane options might help. Players, armour details and enviorment.
Even in DAoC with a hot system I scaled detail back for performance when heavy RvR was eminent.
What it really is…cost vs performance.
With no monthly subscription Anet relys on a less than ideal income base.
Debugging, updating and coding expansions are more prioritized based upon funds and time. Which is easiest?
I would prefer more rewardimg and SOLID PvP/WvW over new content for at least a year in the future.
Don’t add more broken content or problems to fix without repairing the old problems.

For as much as this issue is supposedly unfixable and supposedly never been solved in any real manner in an mmo… I doub this. I’ve played about 20 hours of Planetside 2 this week and have witnessed battles of HUNDREDS of people over much larger distances, and everything renders. I know that I don’t have a clue about the technicalities of the different engines and such. The fact of the matter is there is at least one game that handles a MUCH larger scale battle landscape with no limit on distance rendering and seemingly no limit on quantity of characters rendered.

Changes on the client side do not affect the rendering issues. They only affect the load on your machine. For people with big rigs this doesn’t do a thing.
Last night while defending SM I could see 8 people at our gate, then I’d step forward and then 40 would render while my team disappeared. I could toggle which team I could see by moving back and forth about 3 feet. All the while both teams were maybe 800 range apart.
The issue is at bigger scale battle is becoming absurb. The amount it lag receiving and forced using only auto-attack. All I can hear is the scream of dead opponents+yellow exp bar. Also since that time the opponents was able to warping into contest and by continue doing so. But hey thx for all the badges for such cheating method aside free garrison reward.

WoW’s key to successe was it ran fine on a so so computer.
Maybe we need more options/load client side, this game never taxes my current rig which isn’t cutting edge by any means.
Better graphics when applicable. Down scaling and clip range when large fights are in progress.

People are forgetting this has nothing to do with computer performance mainly. This is an issue with networking.
The amount of information the server is pumping out when 50 players run across each other is a lot. If it means that some players need to be stick figure men, though…..I would gladly take that over what’s going on now. Rather than the server having to figure out if a player is a warrior with so and so weapon, etc.
I’m tired of thieves being completely invisible while attacking. It’s stupid. I’m tired of engaging 3 people with my 2 guildies because it’s an easy fight only to have 10 people magically appear behind them. So stupid.

GW2 has dealt with it far more effectively given the problem wasn’t there in the BWEs or at launch.
