Repost: making WvW similar to sPvP
It’s not about making one more like the other. It’s called making a Player Vs Player mode (WvW IS PvP regardless of Anet trying to claim its PvE) more in line with competitive PvP.
SPvP has a negative connotation with some people in WvW that it really doesn’t deserve. In the end they are both PvP Game Modes, and yes sPvP has been botched badly by Anet with the extreme limits they put on customization, but if they made it more in line with the way things were in Guild Wars 1, I have no doubt there would be more interest in both sides.
GW1 PvP – Alliance Battles, HoH, GvG, FA, and JQ had the same type of people that were interested in Random Arena, Team Arena, etc.
If Anet took away the limits they’ve put on sPvP and applied the customizability to WvW, GW2 would see a much higher level of competitive play, strategies, and builds. Team composition could be perfected and guilds would much more time to play with their builds instead of having to commit to leveling a character from 0-80 before realizing its not what they wanted.

apparently I was disrespectful in my last post about this and before any mod deletes this I have an email from customer support saying I can repost
make WvW more competitive by using the sPvP character customisation system
more people will play, less lag from ugly particle effects, more emphasis on player skill, less feeling like a tool because you’re upleveled and borderline worthless as anything other than a supply mule
I read the new changes with disrepair because I have multiple alts I use for different group combinations and situations, grinding time gated items will be hell
I work out, given the new ascended items follow the same stat gain over exotic, that without ascended I’ll be behind by almost 10% on a given stat. This is bad news for small group roamers.
Instead of posting on the forum level your character and buy some gear.

To the OP no disagree.
To this I don’t understand what your saying took away the limits on sPvP and applied customizability to WvW? Is this backwards what you are saying?
You can’t fully recreate a build in sPvP that you have in WvW but many builds that become popular in WvW for different classes usually come from sPvP. They also have the same people that complain about those builds in sPvP complain about them in WvW (which is dumb imo) I don’t see spirit rangers killing zergs but w/e.

Exactly: You can’t fully recreate a build in sPvP. That’s what I’m saying, they need to take away the limits they currently have on what can be customized in sPvP so that people can play around more with stats instead of only being able to choose between 1 Amulet and 1 Jewel.
After the PvP build making is open to more customization, they need to apply that same PvP build making process to characters for WvW. It should be stats for each piece of gear and trinkets.

The spvp gear sucks though. You have much less viable builds in spvp. The correct solution is just to not introduce new grindable crap.
less lag from ugly particle effects
Sorta like this?

Skill particle effects at least tell you what skill is being used. Even though yes they are over done as well.
I wholeheartedly agree that the sPvP gear is too limiting, again ideally I’d want full customization there too.
If you want spvp, then play spvp. Don’t make WvW as boring and limited as it is too. NO! A thousand times no. If they change it most of us will have no reason to play this game anymore. The majority of WvW players hate spvp which is why we play WvW and not spvp. "
