Retraiting your WvW ability Points!
Get in line with the many other people asking the same thing, without (afaik) any response.
if i wanted to treb i could take a few points from guard mastery and put it on treb
This is the exact reason why they shouldn’t be something you can reset, at least not frequently and/or cheaply.
For the masteries to have meaning, you need to make meaningful decisions about how you prioritize them. If players were able to reset them on the fly, then it doesn’t become a tactical choice, it’s just about who has the most points they can just throw at whatever task they are doing at the moment.

From what I was told months ago from a Developers wife, they tried to add it in but encountered some massive bug which is why we got the 1 Respec.
Seriously People. Creating a new thread on this subject every 3 days is just stupid at this point. They know we want, they already said it wasn’t happening. Deal with it.

For the masteries to have meaning, you need to make meaningful decisions
“meaningful decisions” are the one you take once you have a complete knowledge of what you are deciding about.
How can you decide something from the future?
They have to accept that giving WvW skills reset AT LEAST at the beginning of new matchups is more than mandatory.
How can you decide something from the future?
The Devs have stated many times that they will continue to add masterys, new trait lines and expand existing ones. You have the power to decide what you do with your trait points…Isn’t it weird that the day treb mastery was released 3 people in my guild maxed it out? I would guess they aren’t the only people to do that. Save your points if your worried about future trait lines.
Edit: I already know a few people saving points for “Ram mastery” because you know its going to happen at some point….

No one is saying these should be changed on the fly – but that there should be some method for resetting them at a non-trivial cost. And no, this hasn’t been addressed as far as I know. Account-bound wvw titles were. If I’m wrong, please, by all means, someone link it.
Players can reset traits and skills… why not have the ability to reset WxP points? I think most would be happy with a badge cost or something similar but this is one of those near universal changes most WvW players are OK with but the devs have said no.
Someone in their design department is sticking to some guns that simply don’t need to be stuck to.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
They should just reset our skills every time they add a new mastery. They did it once already, so they do have the ability to reset all our wxp abilities.
I am going to place drinks on this table. If you are thirsty, you can purchase one of them for the change in your pockets, but I will be adding drinks every 15 minutes or so, and if you wait, you might get something to drink that you really like.
I already refunded your money for the tepid milk, what more do you want?

I agree on this topic we need a merchant that can reset your WvW XP ability’s.
And then it will cost you like 1 gold or so and only once a month or week.
thinks thats better when there is a timer on it so people can not reset it all the time in 5 minutes.
Prepare To Die!! Never Stop Fighting!!
One of GW2’s strengths is the ability to test out builds – we need this for our WXP builds!
Players can reset traits and skills… why not have the ability to reset WxP points?
traits and skills are both capped whereas wxp masteries are not, that’s why they need an opportunity cost. You can have them all in the long term, so where you place them in the short term is what matters.

My uncle works for Nintendo, and he said that we got the 1 respec because the devs felt bad about people buying a skill that was subsequently nerfed, so they gave us a refund.

I think this is kind of a problem? You can’t really poke around and see exactly what all these super special awesome 75 point abilities actually do. How do you even judge how effective Burning Shell is when you have to spend that much WXP on it?
AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we’re back off the first page with no response. Wooo!
Respec once per reset. Shouldn’t break anything.
Respec everytime Anet add new Mastery. This is the only logical way.
After all those wvw updates, specially the new trees like treb or mortar, I think A-Net should reset all wxp points, because I would not have invested my wxp points in the oil tree for example, if I had known that some days/weeks later the treb or mortar trees would be imported.
So please A-Net, when you are done with all the trees, please reset the wxp points because ony then we have the overview of all trees and the opportunity to skill the trees that fit to our individual play/game style.

no need to be rude I thought forums were a place to ask questions and give answers not to verbally abuse people!
Eh, no one is verbally abusing. We just want this implemented, or at least a response.
Your the 100,000th person to ask for this…
Anet says NO.
Should charge 250 badges of honour to retrait WvW abilities.

I’ll scoop the blog post. World Ability Points will be refunded to everyone at the start of the season.
For every season or just the first one?
For every season or just the first one?
We are talking about season one for now. What the future may hold, who can say?

Are you serious? Look around and you’ll see the answer to your question.
hooray xD
would prefer a button but a one time will do
Why not just allow us to reset them at the re-trainer for a fee? Between them being both character bound and locked in, it feels very restricting.
It should be time gated so there is some meaning to specializing in something, instead of rich player = master of all. Respec every season or every reset makes sense.
i do agree that we should get one reset each week or 2
I’m mainly against permanent WXP points becuase I’m one of the few people who (regrettably) invested in oil mastery.
However if anet doesn’t want people resetting their WXP points all the time, why not use laurals to reset them? Perhaps 7 each time which means in theory can only be reset once a week. I know some people don’t use these anymore besides making money, and even stockpiling them (I’m on 50 myself)

Interesting. So if it does happen every season, we can probably expect to see a reset every 2 months, assuming season length doesn’t change.
I can’t remember whether I read it already somewhere, but when the season starts, will there be a moratorium on new WvW updates?

I would be fine with this, as long as they don’t add new masteries.
Which they said they will stop delivering WvW content while the first season is on.
You edited just before I quoted haha, yes I can’t remember where I read it but I believe they said WvW updates while stop coming out.

I don’t have a problem with new masteries. I have a problem with new masteries being the only thing delivered with a patch. If we’re effectively getting patches every two months (and i’m assuming they’re going to have a few weeks’ breaks in between seasons), then they better be godkitten big patches and not just 5 masteries stickytaped together.
It should be time gated so there is some meaning to specializing in something, instead of rich player = master of all. Respec every season or every reset makes sense.
Then what if a player actually change their class specialty?
We can respec for 3 kitten silvers, changing between bunkers, dps, cc support, whatever.
Why shouldnt we be able to change our WvW mastery to match when we change our build?
Maybe a dps build want various siege masteries and building, as they will stay in the back. Maybe a bunker want a bunch of defensive masteries. And when a bunker change to dps for 3 kitten silvers… He’s stuck with useless masteries.
Its not rocket science, Anet. Its 3 kitten silvers worth of logic.

If you can retrait whenever you need to play a specialised role, what good is getting more than 300 skill points? You can just change to whatever specialised role needs filling at the time. Breadth is supposed to be a desirable attribute, not the standard.
DevonCarver then please lower the cost on carrying supply to 10-20-30-40-50 or something like that. (that is still 150lvl to max out)

This sounds very reasonable, I think, or maybe to 15 per rank. Them being expensive is a good thing, seeing as carrying supply affects just about everything you do.
Holy ishtar batman. Thanks for the response. Everyone shut their yaps, and when they see that retraiting doesn’t break the world, maybe they’ll make it more frequent / easier!
I just reached rank 100 and have my skill point placed very well. I do good damage across the board. I think about each trait I want to drop points in ask questions. I believe I have most points in the right places for my game play style. I do not want them to make it easy to reset points. I love the skill point process and since trebuchet mastery came out, I have really made it an effort to start getting it maxed. But that gives me something to work for. We have too many people who want to just get everything for free in this game. Look at zergers for instance. Most of them could not defend a keep or tower to save their lives. If they do know how they don’t do it because it is easier and gives more experience to just zerge it back. Follow that blue taco and don’t think. They ruin WvW cuz they are just after experience. The developers wont change it because it is popular to zerge, and when something is popular they make money. Don’t make it easy to reset skill points, please make them work for something good for once.
You’re missing the point there shoufer. Respecing isn’t the same as asking for something for free. And as they’re providing a reset of points, anet is showing that they agree with us more than you.
I do hope they do once a season, it would be fair and prevent people from resetting wvw points so they can max out treb mastery before they go use a treb for example.
You should not be able to change your ability points in an as needed basis, but being allowed to change them once every 2-3 months seems like a good idea and let people ‘fix’ mistakes that don’t fit their playstyles.
