Returning Player - Good WvW Duo with Thief?
thief, mesmer, d/d ele, bm ranger.
Personal favorite is a tanky distraction with a glassy thief who can strike while the tanky is distracted.
Guardians, D/D eles work well. Guardians tend to be more tanky and offer good support (shadow refuge + tome of courage = epic) but D/D eles have more DPS and mobility.
Engineers are also incredibly powerful at roaming.
Tier 1 Casual
Thief and Guard works extremely well, especially if the guard is running pure of voice, soldiers runes and triple shouts.

Another Thief. If you want two different classes then a Mesmer or D/D Ele would be good choices as well.
In fact if you had a part of 5 Thieves you could basically make the enemy rage quit.
