Well hello,
Just back to the game, I played from the release date until mid september, and i just came back a few days ago and had some questions about WvW. I’ve been playing the last few nights and it seems that everybody who is playing the WvW scene just rallies around the commanders and zerg funs it up. This is great and all but i was wondering if there is much 5v roaming. I know there is the pvp area, but death match gets a little old. It seems that the awesome environs with the ruined walls and the choke points in WvW would be awesome for some more 5v5 play and would definately support small groups harrying the zerg tactics, killing respawners running tore join the zerg and all. So my question is, do people play party tactic in the wvw zone? For me it would be great fun for strafing zergs and against other 5v5, and would make gw2 a more fit to my play style and decide whether i become a long time supporter or not. Any answers would be appreciated. thanks

every successful server has both zergs and small roaming teams.

I think it all depends on what server you are on. Here on Yaks we have many squads roaming around but probably not as many as mags who specialize in this type of play. Being involved in a guild gives you the opportunity to find your niche. On yaks and other servers there are alliances which increase this opportunity further without loosing your guild identity. Then it depends on what tier server you are the higher the less opportunity and the lower the more opportunity. It is WVW so zergs are part of it but dfinitely not everything Just my 2 pence worth.

My favourite times are in a 5 man, and we’re as effective at supporting the war effort. We even harass the big zergs. Chew up their time, pick off outliers, or camp northern camps playing “spiritholm’etc tower defence” where we see how many waves of enemy players we can take before we get wiped. The zerg always has to redirect themselves to us in order to drive us out of the camp. That’s win right there.

Make some friends. Always get into a group, and only stay with your group if they’re actively moving about together. When the fighting comes stick close, and prioritise keeping everyone on their feet. In a 5 man you can work wonders.
