Could we get a reward track for this? Gold is not easy to come by in WvW (compared to PvE) and I almost exclusively play WvW.

Ehhhhh, maybe if they introduced a tag that was only useable in wvw that could be earned through wvw, basically the same as the mentor tag in pve.

Commander’s tag shouldn’t be available for everyone just for playing WvW for 2-3 hours. I’d say it should cost more BoHs and maybe even proofs of heroics. Gold is very easy to come by these days, especially with 2 gold each day for everyone.

Do profitable reward tracks and sell the rewards. Eventually you will have 300g to buy it.

Lol, a reward track for Commander tags would be a disaster. At 195 points/5 minutes, you’re looking at just over 8.5 hours for a full reward track. And you can easily shorten that with things like experience boosters or Outnumbered.

And there are people, like myself, who keep the daily wvw exp pots, so that I can instantly get any reward track from 0 to full as soon as it’s available.

Sure, heck, it could even be an 8 hour track. BUT during the reward track there should be quality gates. For instance, halfway through the track, the “candidate” should be given a trainee tag whereby they are required to invite and lead no less than 5 squad members to their squad, and after a 30 minute run the squad members have to vote yes or no on the candidates compentincy. Perhaps a quiz at the end on seige placement or encouraging things to say vs not so encourging things to say that makes people want to follow the commander into battle, and maybe for grins a title after successful completion of the track.

Of course, failure on any quality gates resets progress to zip, so, potions are lost.

You can buy badges of tribute, sell them on trading post and buy tag.
30s per tribute
300g / (0,3*0,85) = 1177 badges of tribute
So you can already trade 35295 badges of honor for a commander tag

Actually I sold off more than 300 Vials of Linseed oil recently, and the amount of gold was in the 200+ range. So if your very patient, farm + craft, and/or get a lucky drop, you can easily get 300g in order to purchase the tag. I don’t even want to deal with a bunch of commander ‘trolls’ that literally try to split up the zerg by sowing confusion in WvW. We have some pretty bad constant siege trolls, and when they tag up they’ve lead us astray pretty badly. Having three or more dozen players with tags on the same map pulling group cohesiveness 360 degrees, it’s not to pretty. The last time I saw a Dorito party in WvW it was over 30 players and there was a great deal of confusion of “who to follow”.

I treat Commanders/Tags/Dorito’s like I treat the Brittish empire of the 1800-1900’s. Your rank was purchaseable by how much you payed the navy or crown. That’s no different here. Whether the person has the ability to understand tactics, strategy, and earn the respect of those that follow them, that’s something a Compendium just can’t help you with. And you better remember that. Just because you have a tag, if the group doesn’t respect or trust your leadership, it’s going to be a big whopping 300g loss.
