Did I miss something, or am I right in thinking that the “decay prevention” team will get ZERO reward for sitting on their duff in the ruin of power? Just like scouts in towers/keeps get ZERO reward for doing an important job?

This is why pretty much nobody sits in towers/keeps these days.

Mechanics that only reward server score, without rewarding the individual player simply don’t work. This is why the GvG meta game developed all on it’s own.

The GvG meta game doesnt reward the individual player. We get at least 10 times more loot from a regular 1 hour guild raid compared to a 1 hour GvG.

There is a base of players in this game who are solely out there for the fights. GvG players are a prime example of this. And the ruins are a good place for them to do this. They don’t care about the rewards. For those that do, they can go attack keeps, towers and supply camps. For those who really care about the PPT, then they can scout.

The reward is the fun. Sitting in a tower/keep is not fun, and not rewarding at all.

For those who really care about the PPT, then they can scout.

lots and lots of small scale fighting in hopefully even numbers. that is all the reward i need. my place will be there for the next months

edit: you dont have to wait all the day on the capture point, just for 2 minutes ( 3 ppl on 3 sports ) and then roam from point to point and decapture you enemy points to prevent him from getting the bloodlust buff

There is no system they could put in place that wouldn’t be exploitable, which is why they will never reward scouting. However, in T1 servers it is pretty much guaranteed you will have scouts in all major objectives. Given any timezone, the commander at the time designates a scout, which is generally from the guild they are on. Also, some of us who play extended hours offer to scout during our “non-prime” hours so that those who are playing prime time can get some enjoyment out of the game. Scouts get rotated regularly either way. I presume your on a low tier server where you just don’t have the numbers to scout, which is more a numbers and/or organization issue than a rewards issue.

At 23:07 – Hugh Norfolk talks about why there is no wxp reward for the new ruins.

I think they were afraid that a 30 man zerg would run around capping the points that the other 30 man zerg just captured… without walls or npcs it would be a non-stop circle of wxp.

Devon Carver said, “The ruins are set up to encourage a small dedicated group of players to be able to defend their holdings and prevent other worlds from gaining the bonus.” To encourage dedication, they made the buff important to have for your team and important to prevent the enemy team from getting. To encourage the group to remain small, they force you to get less wxp/mats/chests/loot/karma/xp/skillpoints/gold than the people who capture real objectives.

Stalwart Defenders do it because it needs to be done.

The whole point about not giving rewards for the capture points, is so big group of players doesn’t sit and guard them. But it’s not going to be the same as defending a tower, as the capture points are open, so you will get rewards for all the players you defeat. And there are going to be a lot of players there.

Stalwart Defenders do it because it needs to be done.

doesnt mean they enjoy going unrewarded while they see 3 towers and 4 camps flipped and feel like theyre missing out

Reward for these points would ruin them, imo. They would become another stop on the karma/wxp train.

Reward for these points would ruin them, imo. They would become another stop on the karma/wxp train.

Kind of makes you wish there were no rewards for anything right? It is too bad there wasn’t already a system in place that gave minimal reward for flipping, and minimal reward for zergging in the past.
