Hey guys, as a lonely poor soul who roams on a T4 (maybe T5 soon) EU server, mostly solo or duo, I actually consider spending a lot gems to move to a “better” server (Gandara probably).

Some people might ask, what roaming means for me. Fighting other players of course, not just flipping camps, killing yaks and tagging towers…(of course I try to be useful)

Since there is not much to do for me anymore in this game I fell in love with this mode. All these random situations, testing new builds and winning outnumbered fights make it so enjoyable for me.

Maybe I’m just a bit burned out, but fights seem to get so boring lately. Most people are just running away, or don’t even fight back. It’s not dead. There are a lot good other roamers out there that could kick my kitten , but good fights seem to get rarer and rarer.

But what do you think? Is it worth it? I really appreciate your help.

In my experience the higher up you go the worse it becomes. In kitten one see 10 man “roaming” parties running around capping camps. The amount of havok guilds also increases (well, naturally) which make solo/duo roaming considerably harder because you simply cant be effective. And not to mention the amount of meta cheese exploit builds exponentially increase (when you do meet solo roamers they are likely to be perplexity mesmers).

But hey if you simply want activity, move on up.

I’m going to recommend that you change worlds. Despite the expense, your interest in WvW isn’t being met in your current match ups. I’d recommend T2 rather than T1, since you’re likely to have about the same number of skilled solo opponents, with a reduced risk of running into larger groups and lower queues.

I’m in NA/T1 and I mostly roam these days. During peak hours, it’s difficult because it’s a lot harder to avoid larger groups. Zergs are relatively easy to spot (commander tags, sword icons, shout outs from scouts) and more so if you bother to get on voice to listen to what’s going on. However, there are lots of 4+ havoc teams during prime time.

Regarding good fights: it’s hard to tell from your description what interests you. Some fights are boring (to you), some enemies kick your kitten — you are looking for the even match ups and that’s impossible to predict. Roamers come in all forms — bunker & stealth builds are used both by people interested in fighting and trolls; some people want to flip targets and scout (and so run away from fights); and some are looking to gank the unprepared.

Outside of joining a group/guild of people interested in organizing dueling matches, I don’t really see how you can end up with the kind of fights you want, regardless of tier.

Accordingly, I think your best bet is Tier 2, not tier 1. The number of skilled roamers is probably about the same as in T1. However, T2 tends to queue less frequently and for shorter periods. In addition, it’s easier to avoid havoc teams.

When do you play? I am now on Deso and am in the morning, early afternoon and again late at night on the road. And that is fine. In the evening there is certainly pointless.

Thanks for the replies guys !

During the week I roam on early evening when I come home from work. On weekends I play whenever I got time. T2 would probably a better choice, but I don’t know if there is really much difference. Disengaging is not a problem, since I play druid and thief (not the perma stealth crap lol), but always running from a larger group is not fun either…
