I just transferred from YB to a lower tier a few days ago for 3-5 man roaming groups, now I’m back up in a zerg fest my PC can’t handle…

What servers are lowish population now?
Also, can I get refund on my servers transfer? Seems redundant now lol

You would have to contact support and file a ticket to request a refund. You might want to wait a bit and see how the server linking works out, maybe it will get easier for smaller groups to operate.

Roaming is about fights, while sPvP is about gaming for points.

Roaming does not = running around empty maps in a circle capping uncontested camps and once in awhile 2 man ninja a tower because there is noone to fight.

Roaming is plenty alive on high pop servers, it’s actually back to real roaming with real risks.

PvP is where at least you know you’ll get zerged by a group not bigger than 5, in WvW you can get ganked by 50 at least :p

Also there’s little chance of a running into a perplex, boon stacking druid or like that, things you can’t really fight with power builds that well.

Roamers should spread out on servers, if they want to fight each other these days.

If you’re on NA, it is SoS. The only queue you’ll get is for EB.

Roaming? Right now roaming/small havoc groups are dead. This might change after everything stabilizes in the coming months and tweaks are made. But right now you’re going to be hard pressed to find anything other than latching on to a big blob and going with the flow sad as it may be.

I disagree. Part of roaming is following close to the zerg and picking off stragglers/tails. Part of roaming is intercepting people heading back to their zerg. Part of roaming is knowing where the enemy zergs are and being able to keep a safe distance while also taking out targets.

Roaming is more alive now then it has been in a long long time. Havok groups, also have way more opportunity now then in the last 2 years.

I remember once when I kittened off an entire enemy zerg while solo roaming and had a Pirates of the Caribbean moment with them chasing me across the borderland. Funtimes.

I’d also wait to see how it settles down for a bit since the merges just happened.

Of course ganking and being ganked is part of roaming.

I think a lot of the roamers have lost their skills on empty maps or have never played on constantly full maps before. Now if you roam you can get wiped at anytime by a passing group, this was common place in the first 1-2 years on my server.

Last night I was trying to roam solo and I quickly learned I too had lost a lot of my skills from running on empty maps. Time I go back to WvW boot camp and change my strategies. XD

There are tons of opportunitys for 1-5 man groups in T1. Vastly more now than there were a few weeks ago.

Can I see you take out a 200 man blob? In lower population servers roamers actually get fights. In high population servers they get run over by blobs.
Players transfer to lower tiers to get away from blobs so they can have real fights that actually require skill, not 500 people throwing their faces at each other.

So you actually want a map with very low population? My server has had that for the past 18 months and it’s caused me to uninstall the game. This new patch and beta event has not only got me to reinstall but I’m having a great time and making new friends.

So you actually want a map with very low population? My server has had that for the past 18 months and it’s caused me to uninstall the game. This new patch and beta event has not only got me to reinstall but I’m having a great time and making new friends.

Everyone has their own preferences, I personally like medium sized maps, others like small maps. I can’t stand blob fights, so I prefer smaller sized servers where skill matters much more. You really learn to become good at the game when you are put in a difficult situation.

Or maybe you didn’t know that tagging the NPC’s out the front of towers would give you XP when the tower was flipped later? You get the same xp lol

Also you’ve played for 2 years, I’ve played nothing but WvW and PvP since game release.

So many stories about roaming. I roam for atleast 3 years now on a high populated server on Seafarer’s Rest. We Just roam arround the map in EB, dueling at the dueling spots in EB with other roamers. Checking the map for decent 1v1, 2v2, or 3vx. If we are bored we gang the tail of the enemy zerk(better then standing afk in the keep) Or we contest there keep so we can spawnrpe them. We call it a zombie survival game when we spawnrpe the enemy, how many zombie waves can we survive till we must run Xd its fun. Talking allot, making jokes. Sharing builds, trying to improve the roaming build. Sometimes we play “towerdefender” were we put ac’s in the tower, trying how long we can survive with 5 guys on 5 balistas, but mostly we Just roam arround and duel allot Xd So for the op: there is no low populated server, with the New menging.

I find the roaming to be really solid in YB and even better this week than usual. I am constantly flipping defended camps, picking off zerglings that stray from the herd, cutting off supply, back-capping, calling out enemy movements, refreshing siege, building new siege, etc.

T1 (and probably T2) does mean dodging large groups but that is half the fun. Heck we had a BG zerg chasing us across EBG a few times last night and not always escaping. Our Discord channel was constantly laughing about one good fight or screw up after another.
