Guild Wars 2

Does anyone else think it would be a fun idea to have a week every few months where instead of the usual ranked matchups we get a week of one day matchups similar to what we had at launch? I’m from Tarnished Coast and while I’m loving the matchup we’ve had for the last month or so, it would be nice to get some quick games in against servers we’ve rarely or never seen. These games wouldn’t effect the rankings, so while shaking things up a bit and providing world map finishers a great opportunity, this would also give our dedicated commanders an easy week if they wanted a break from the more Serious Business aspects of normal matchups. Anyway, just a thought.

I think this would be a very interesting idea! Because who is to say that a team in t4 can’t beat a team in t2, they just havn’t had the opportunity to play each other recently? I guess the best way I could describe that scenario is back to a good old Pokemon reference. Just because water can beat fire, and fire can beat grass, that does not mean water can beat grass, because in truth, grass beats water. I guess you see it in sports ladders as well, the team on top have been beaten before by teams very very far down the ladder.

Just my two cents on this, good idea!

Id be down for one week it would be interesting. Im sure some of the matches would be pretty funny.

Bad analogy, terrible analogy. A top steam on a sports ladder plays with the exact same number of players as a bottom team. Sports teams play with the same number of players at the same time. Sports teams don’t outnumber their opponents 10 to 1 and show up to play when the other team is asleep.
A round robin would be a disaster and boring as hell for the vast majority of matches. Sure a small number of people would get perverse pleasure out of absolutely roflstomping far far far less populated servers but for the majority it would be boring as hell.

I could see it as a “voluntary” server thing, but if this were to happen as it stands now, the top servers being matched up with the bottom servers could be one of the most demoralizing contests possible.

I imagine the top servers might not field a really competitive team for the week or just mess around while the lowest servers might not do much after the first night or two of barely getting off the spawn or out of their keep.

I might be exaggerating the picture a bit in my mind. I have played in T1, T2, and T3. I have never been in T8 but judging by their rating and the forum conversations I don’t think my vision is entirely out of the question.
