My guild and I transfered to Ruins of Surmia around a month ago to find a server without queue’s, and found ourselves a nice little community. It’s been a rough month for the Surmians, ups and downs as we have gone through varying degree’s of organisation… and a revolving door of german zerg’s for opposition. I have only had queue’s once on RoS, and we rarely ever have the population to even have a foothold in 2 zones, especially as of late as the player numbers have dropped off steadily as time has gone on. Hope came last night when Vabbi fell down into our lowly bracket.

We went in with one plan: Get some morale for our faltering troops, and we managed better than we ever expected!

We knew we would be outgunned as we (and our seemingly permanent opponents Fissure of Woe) always are, but we went for Stonemist as tradition dictates. To our amazement, we actually managed to capture the thing… ah how pleasant it is to not see the chat filled with “Told you we couldn’t do it!” “You’re idiots for bringing us here”, strangely silent today it seems. Oh **** Fissure have broken the inner gate, all hands on deck! Some co-ordinated guardian efforts held them at bay and honestly morale couldn’t have been higher!

Back and forth with Vabbi for the next hour or so as Quentin lake changes hands every 5 minutes, while 2 4-man squads (we have far too many commanders for our size!) run around capturing anything they can lay their hands on. Including the Vabbi orb (wtf?).

Sadly that’s where it ended. Our numbers rapidly dropped as the night wore on and we started on the defensive, countering 6 seperate trebuchet assaults on SM – so much easier if the first 4 trebs we built didn’t despawn due to inactivity. Constant dolyak escorting and upgrading of objectives, less than 30 supply before the SM waypoint is finished Vabbi suddenly regains activity – a predominantly Russian server so they are awake somewhat earlier than us – and proceeds to beat their way through everything.

We may have fallen tonight, and dropped down into 2nd place with not a single objective remaining 8 hours after the match began, but we came out fighting and we proved that whilst small we can fight!

Sadly the happy ending is not what it appears to be, our Valley keep was taken due to glitching, all outer and inner gates still standing and yet attackers are somehow CLIMBING onto the walls. Engineers, Warriors, Necro’s, you name it they got up and killed our defenders. After that, the majority of our players logged leaving our castle (only missing fortified walls) to be taken by a total of 9 rams, alpha golem and omega golem. Somewhat overkill for the 8 defenders inside.

We won’t give up, as we never do, but what started out to be a very promising matchup that might finally have some balance instead of permanent spawn camp has been broken by glitching, which is already taking a larger toll on the playerbase than a month of German zerg’s have.

Yep, sad story with Vabbi trying to glitch up the keep wall. Instead of doing a fair fight (they would have gotten that keep anyways) they decided to exploit. Poor Vabbians musta been desparate to win something…
