Rune of the Mad King.
If the group you are attacking has ae retaliation, then you will go down very fast. The way to counter retaliation is to stop attacking, or if it’s a continuous stream like you’re saying, evade through the damage and hope you kill at least one. With retaliation ebing as visible as it is, you should be able to avoid it easy.
This is a problem for any class capable of damaging large numbers of enemies quickly.
Mesmer’s feedback bubble can be a death sentence too; every time feedback reflects a projectile, and the projectile hits a guy with retaliation you take ret damage. Dropping feedback in front of a large enough zerg can kill you dead simply because the zerg kept shooting themselves.

There is a very large difference between hitting a few people in sPvP, and triggering 10 retaliations a second from a WvW zerg…
It needs its own lower wuvwuv value.

Thats not the fix thats needed, it does not adress the actual issue where AoE and Fast-hitting attacks get completely screwed over by Retaliation. To the point the players end up one-shotting themself against a passive boon that is always up in a zerg because its also the most mindles: boon.
Just nerfing the damage is a stupid way to do it, because then it will just suck against slow-attacks and non-aoe attacks.
Well the problem is, that it just don’t feels right.. The ravens that come out when I use my elite skill are hitting the targets multiple times in a fast rate, and then when I look at my character im like WTF! Boom dead lol
I use AOE field fire on zergs many times, but then retaliation just ticks normally, I would consider a dev too look at this, just doesn’t feel right.

Retaliation still does full damage on all borderland maps. This has been reported already many times, still no fix.
