Announcement of SOR WvW Committee

SOR Server, a Tier 1 WvW focused server is pleased to announce the formation of the SOR WvW Committee. This committee is set up to ensure the Rallian way of WvW.

It is by the community for the community. Everyone in the committee has equal rights and equal voice. Every guild represented shall have a voice to place their concerns and opinions.

Amongst other WvW focused administrative duties, this committee will be in charge of of WvW direction and the strategic meta-game for SOR. Indo our dear leader continues to serve in the community as Speaker of the House.

Hello Zikory,

Due to the huge influx of new WvW members when the league started, we were watching and waiting to see if there were issues to be dealt with especially with the big T1 push for placings. We needed to see if Anet’s goal was aligned with ours. As most of the folks outside of SOR know, we are not about playing overtime to catch up with PPT. Most SOR folks will play within safe limits of their timezone.

After the 1st week, Indo was consulted and we agreed that it would best to take the burden of strategic WvW planning off his shoulders. We as the community felt it would be best that administrative duties and direction be handled by the WvW guild leaders instead of laying the responsibility on one person. We also feel that this relieves some of the bigger guilds the burden of leading the server, which might lead to burnout.

Case in point, one of the aims is to keep the team/map chat and TS clean of negativity. (TS with drunk folks on Fridays are ok, not an issue). This has always been an SOR trait and with the big influx of new folks, we have to share the burden of making sure things are kept this way. After an internal survey, we find that most SOR are family oriented and they appreciated a positive atmosphere of play.

Also, the guilds that are working together in the committee have agreed on a flexible forum policy for SOR.

Lastly, we have been receiving enquiries from guilds and members from other servers so we thought it would be best to release the information quickly.

Oh wow, so SoR is going to start playing WvW again? It’s about time, we haven’t seen you guys out in weeks; welcome back!

So…when does the committee vote on who gets on the committee for the WvW committee?

They should form a subcommittee for that. And another one to oversee it.

A Working Party might need to be formed to plan, strategise and implement a Steering Committee to oversee the Think Tank to ensure correct protocols are followed…..

I think they should first have a meeting to plan on a meeting that will vote on a subcommittee in charge of assigning representatives for the WvW Committee.

And all this should be done before SoR looses to Maguuma this week.

I’d assume that’s a PR move to inform appropriate parties about existence of new decision making body so they understand that there are new possibilities to form all kinds of treaties/memoranda of intent.

But evidence suggests that either the person who started the topic was after some kind of global fame/recognition, OR there’s more to it. Advertising to external parties is one of possibilities that is an obvious option.

I see Sor still hasn’t figured out what their problem is, it’s not about the ppt, you can win without having to micromanage the ppt which rall has manage to do to stay in the top three. It’s about the commanders and guilds hiding from the community in their foxholes, the guilds run around as small havok squads because some of them don’t like running with pugs, and some of them are so paranoid of spies they don’t run with the tag or pugs.

The other issue is commanders, basically only one is allowed to show on a map at any given time, when someone else tags up even by accident you can sometimes hear the disdain in the current commanders voice questioning why is that person tagged up. You want to break up the zerg and yet only run one tag most times? Some non main commanders out there seem hesitant to take up commanding either for stepping on toes or lack of experience. There’s guild training that always happens, is there also commander training?

Rall complains about the blobs that they encounter, they seem to think that other servers should play at their level, they shouldn’t blob and they shouldn’t get new guilds. But this is tier one, both those are going to happen, get use to it and work around it or move to a lower tier. One russian guild moved onto bg, and rall guilds all of a sudden gives up for days after, just think of the chain reaction on morale that did for the server.

You say this committee is by the community for the community? how about starting to truly work with your entire community, the guilds and commanders need to start leading in the open. You don’t have to go out of your play time and do overtimes, you don’t have to manage the ppt, take whatever places you can, smash the enemy whenever you can. But your “community” which is made up of a lot of players from small guilds or the guildless need to see the main guilds having a presence on all maps so they can follow and help. Train the pugs in the process. I hope you all understand the importance guilds and commanders have on the morale of wvw players.

I don’t mind that we’re not able to field numbers on 2 maps at this timezone. We never were that populated a server.

To Kanderous, thanks for keeping our Garry lol. ZDs and friends were hammering on it since 1130pm (GMT +8) and most of the asian guys had to go to bed. Welldone.

Again, to all the servers out there be rest assured that with the formation of the WvW Committee, that Sanctum of Rall WvW has never been and will never be focused about making PPT (though it is important) because it involves a big percentage of people playing over time. Now, to the BG folks please don’t get me wrong, I am not making any judgements on BG’s focus on zone coverage and PPT, in fact I have admiration for your tactics and strategy, but that model doesn’t work for SOR’s community and way of life.

Having fun with the community is 1st priority, PPT work is 2nd priority
