A salute to both these servers, you have so far proven to be excellent and tough opponents.

When some of us in Gunnars Hold first saw the new match up we groaned in agony, two servers with the same nationality? after just having fought two other servers who allied against us we thought ‘here we go again’.

As we expected both servers put up a hell of a fight over the weekend, despite Gunnars Hold taking the lead initially you clawed and fought your way back, unexpected, you also fought each other viciously.

I heard that one of our previous opponents now finds itself in the same situation we were in, fighting against two allied servers. If I were a better man I probably wouldnt take such amusement and satisfaction from that.

The fights so far have been very entertaining. Morale in Gunnars Hold WvW is high, even when you managed to take an orb keep, we fought you for every inch. The battle is just starting and we will fight you till the end.

Honestly I don’t believe half of the claims of “Realms xyz allied against us”.

I know it may seem like that at times, especially if you are the dominating force, but without proof I’m skeptical. I think it’s just something people tell themselves to feel better.

Whatever the truth of the ally situation, it kitten well looked like it at times, especially when they were actively working together to keep us in our little camp instead of trying to go for each other’s towers/keeps
Only played against the Germans friday ngiht due to being busy this weekend, but it looked like we could kick their kitten quite easily, so the score when i log on today (sunday 15h) is quite surprising to me :p

Hope we come across more servers like Elona Reach & Kodash since the 3 way fighting has been Epic so far.

Crying is as far as it goes, we have Arborstone [FR] and Augury Rock [FR], and everyone is crying that they tag-team us JUST LIKE Gunnar’s and Augury last week. It didn’t happen either time, and is an excuse of cowards to leave the already failing WvW effort to die. Thank you very much, see you next time.. NOT.

Gunnars Hold has made some very interesting moves the last few days. Fighting against you guys is always exciting and a real pleasure. Although it may sometimes look like we don’t attack Kodash, there is only one reason: GH is the unknown threat. We played against them last week and know their playstyle. Especially after your great start on Friday we are warned.
I know our nightshift is very motivated and we will probably win at the end of the week but what counts are the epic battles at primetime. Im sure in a few weeks storys are told about 3 hour orb-raids and keep-defenses and nobody will care about 100k leads.

So please don’t loose your motivation just because of the points and lets keep the rest of the fights as fair as the weekend.

(I’m usually on GH Borderlands at primetime, no idea whats up on the other maps)

The problem really isn’t the teaming up. I could care less about who wins at the end of the week, and I just enjoy the good fights (and we’ve been getting a ton of good fights).

The problem is, if you’re not winning in terms of score (or at least competing) puggies aren’t going to enter the battlegrounds and help out. Puggies only arrive when you don’t need them, because lets face it, most solo players aren’t interested in good fights and battles, they are interested in easy wins and free XP/karma handouts.

It’s this kind of slippery slope, combined with the insane orb mechanics that makes it very difficult for a server to compete once they lose a couple of battles. It’s a downward spiral. Once things start going downhill, it becomes very difficult to stop the process.

Yes Scribbles thats right, but as long as we can have fun with WvW fights it doesnt matter.

Some random player hopefully will learn how much fun a good fight can be even if you lose the fight. The game is young and some people are new to WvW or RvR, they will see some day that Karma/XP is not all

Big thank you to all that stuck with LoE and friends in Elona’s BL last night at Cragtop. Fantastic that we could push down to garrison and cap it while Kodash attempted a similar plan at the watergate.

Also loved the cragtop defenses with wall and gate down whilst being outnumbered we still held the keep. Really nice to see some great teamwork in the zones

Stuff of legend!

Last week we at Seafarer’s played these two servers, we also thought they we were playing 2 servers against us at the start of the match, but pretty sure towards the end of the week we were wrong.

It was my favorite match up so far, alot more fun than this weeks match.

I know its unlikely to happen but I would really like to see next match up:

Kodash V Gunnars V Seafarer’s.

I am pretty sure this match would be the closest match in all tiers if it happens and provide some great battles.

Trust me coming from Kodash there is no love for Elona Reach or Riverside because of their night raids. Regarding Seafarer’s you guys really impressed me althought you guys lost by points most people on Kodash think you were the best server. I have never seen such a organized Zerg moving as one building Trebs in no time striking in different places. To our Gunnar’s enemys I salute you too you are fun to fight against however stop attacking us and start attacking Elona :-). Today we build up alot of pressure on Gunnars against Elona as we saw that you were attacking Dreambay, we were cheering for you to get that one Orb out (ofc we would have tried to steal it as soon it was one the road) but better you than Elona. Somehow you stoped and once again you charged against us ^^. Yes , I would love a Gunnar Vs Seafarer Vs Kodash set up. At least all three guilds have no Nightraid set up. P.S. Dear Arena-Net fix the WvW issues since the patch of the 25th September you really messed something up there. Commanders not working, Groups symbols all over the map but not where the people are but most important Zergs not showing up on screen only after death !!

Most siege-heavy servers we’ve been up against so far, but nothing stops CIR

Yes, never seen so much siege, and taking it down only encourages our enemies to build twice as many, with three times the amount of guards.

But we also managed to counter, couldn’t move for ballista’s, catapults, arrowcarts and trebs. To the Elona Reach Mesmers: you really are very annoying, which is the best compliment you can give those one-man-armies.

Kodash, well done in fighting on yesterday on your borderlands. Gunnar’s had been wiped off the map, leaving just Elona and you, despite them having three orbs there was a fierce tug of war between Briar and Bay. I used the distraction to kill some caravans with a small group.

Hahah – understatement of the year I think
The nightshift is completely erradicating G.H. it seems (same thing happened last fight, where we did very well in the 24 hour matches prior), making the fights even more tricky and hard when we get on-line, but hey – it’s the game and we’ll fight regardless of odds (well, many of us will)

Epic battles again tonight,

Fighting in Elona’s Borderlands. Kodash was laying siege to the Garrison controlled by Elona. While any keep is a tempting prize this keep contained an orb. Both Kodash and Gunnars Hold felt that Elona didnt really need all three orbs.

Admittedly, it was Kodash who did the first hard bit of exhausting supplies, when the supplies where judged sufficiently low by warleaders of both KISS and Initiative alliance a surprise golem attack was launched on an uncontested gate.

The golems quickittenook us to the inner gate, but when it was nearly down Kodash jumped us in the back. Understandable, they had just spend a lot of effort wearing down the Garrison and werent about to let us take off with their prize.

After wiping us out handidly Kodash, ever pragmatic, continued our work on the gate. To be wiped by Elona, I was there and could see all, sharing a ledge with an Elona defender untill the bugger started taking potshots at me.

Our forces quickly returned to the keep to find Kodash had beaten us to the gate, this time it was their turn to be the meat in a three server sandwich, after which we started work on the now-repaired inner gate. We managed to get it halfway down before angry Kodashians turned the tables on us. I wonder if Elona did anything but laugh and repair gates during that time, their invaders were too busy killing themselves for the privelege of beating down their door.

In the end, Gunnars Hold took the keep, but Elona made off with the orb, fortifying the only objective left to them at that time: titanspaw.

We did get the orb, but lost it later to Kodash. These three pronged wars are very entertaining. It was also good to see the two separate alliances ,KISS and Initiative, team up succesfully.

Respect to our enemies, KISS, Initiative and the countless of other guilds that were present during this fighting. Good cooperation and communication guys!

It was an epic 3 way last night in Elona’s Borderlands thanks to Elona & Kodash for so much fun & thanks to Nidhogg for been the go between for all those giving order’s & helping us coordination the War effort.

The team work although slow at the start soon got in the flow & we pretty much showed we where a force to be reckoned with & that if we work together nothing is impossible, a big thanks to everyone who was there.

Being a seafarers rest player facing elone and kodash last week was incredibly frustrating. At first most of us belived they worked together cause litteraly they sieged the same doors at times and what looked like cordinated attacks but as the week wore on it turned into a more 3way battle.

It became obvious after day 2 we could not win simply due to the nightshift fights and sfr does not have a heavy night crew: we prefere to do our violence prime time with honor right in your face, but even then i had ques all days for all zones untill the last day. In my opinion we held the field during most days when it came to prime time but lost almost everything from 2am and forward.

I hope we can get a nice setup with GH, kodash and sfr next week without night capping.

Might be nice to face opponents who appear to need sleep. Though I have nothing against nightcapping, Gunnar’s Hold has done our fair share of nightcapping, Elona is just better at it. Coffee must be really strong in Germany :-)

During the day they are good fighters as well so still having fun. Same with Kodash, they keep attacking Elona and us fervently, the current war is practically over, the scores differ to much to be changed overnight.

Deso were never teamed up with anyone, and GH literally tried an alliance for few nights with AR when deso had the lead, I thought it was a great move to make it more balanced and fun but how on earth do u get deso & AR teaming together i dont know, arent you aware deso hates the french? Although it has its charms taking down fully upgraded and heavily siege defended towers n’ keeps – I think our people could use some quick morale boosts of logging in after work in the evening/afternoon and not see a 400 point deficit

Epic battle yesterday for the keep on the eternals. Gunnars from the northwest and Kodash from southeast. 3 hours defending against 2 servers. It was a great pleasure.
Unfortunately, the server came to their limits. Lot of lags when everyone begin to enter the room.

The person that made a post about a supposed alliance was not the voice of GH he did what he did on his own back, we @ Vitas never made an alliance with AR & would never stand for it. I think what Nidhogg ment to say is at times it felt like Deso & AR had an alliance due to the fact that when ever we attacked one of you the other would turn up wipe us out from both sides then leave without even fighting each other,but at times we also so you two (Deso & AR) fighting although not that often.

Anyway this is WAR so anything & everything will happen, chill relax & enjoy the game after all it is just a GAME & is meant to be having fun in. Win is a Win a Loss is a Loss who cares so long as you had fun.

I think the double teaming is the result that when you have a smaller force and are trying to do something late at night it’s easy to go against the side with less numbers than the side with a higher population.

If you 8-10 people you’d have difficulty taking an upgraded tower. Tried this briefly last night. It didn’t go well. But it’s much easier to hit a non upgraded one, which tend to belong to the under populated side.

There is a silly assumption that in a 3 way fight the 2 weaker band against the stronger force, but typically the 2 weaker end up fighting each other since it’s an easier fight to win.
