Check the forums, Anet—- players are not happy about WVW these days. Here is what we need ASAP to save it:
1) Guild Commanders—- (can only be seen by your guild on the map page)
2) Culling—- fix it for the love of god. We want 100% priority on seeing our opponents—- even if it means we cant see our allies.
3) We need reasons for players to log in and play—- even when losing. They can even be the same reward as those for who are winning— I mean we dont really get anything for winning as it is now, so I really dont think anyone will care if its the same for everyone. The world bonus’ are not enough. Give us a daily, or a weekly— something.
4) More rewards for defending or capping with small teams—- the game rewards the team that can zerg with the most players waaaay too much.
5) Buff out manned like mad. The rewards mechanics are not encouraging people to log in when numbers are down. What good are they when you’re just getting killed by huge zergs cause your server is empty? Give us big bonuses to things that really matter—- like toughness, vitality, and power.
6) Introduce dynamic events in WVW. The more you control— the more dynamic events will be likely to spawn on your side of the map. Dynamic events should be sort of like the bugs you have to exterminate between the green and blue areas, in that they are somewhat time consuming but optional—- but they need to have a consequence for not doing them—- such as spawning aggressive creatures that will attack and slow down players in a wide area around them. These dynamic events should ignore players who do not control buildings in the area, and should serve as a detriment to overextending too much.
Example— Taking control of an enemies keep could have a chance to spawn a dragon that will attack the keep every so often. The dragons attacks could include aoe damage— that inflicts gates, walls, and siege in its way in addition to players. These kind of events inflict supply, time, and gold costs on dominating servers and help lower the advantage curve of having more players.
7) In addition to buffing out manned to make it useful, spin off the current out manned buffs into a new buff that scales depending on how out manned you are. No ones on your borderland but your opponents have a full server? That certainly should warrant a huge reward for your time…. Make it a big enough reward and people might have a reason to transfer to lower pop servers just for the chance.
8) Take away the JP for the winning team. Your servers ahead in points? No free siege for you.
The point of all of this—- WVW needs more to encourage competitive play and not just to reward the server with the largest population. We all benefit from having more fun when it feels competitive.
Oh—- and I almost forgot:
9) Bring back free transfers—- but make them only available to servers on the bottom tiers and only available to servers on the top tiers. (IE— Tier 1 or 2 only may transfer to the servers currently in the bottom 2 tiers).
