Do these voting ‘support tokens’ and ‘representation buttons’ have any value or use whatsoever?

In relation to WvW that is.

Or do I just have to throw them away like the rest of this living story stuff?

Unless you want achievement points they are useless.

If u are a WvW player only,as usual,it’s only trash.
But for us WvWers is the only way to rub some achievement point,cause you know….you gain 0 achievements for WvW.

Not true, if you slay a million yaks you get 10 achievement points and a title!
