Saw my 1st hacker
the engi could have rallied on one of the animals nearby, you might have gotten hit with skilllag or the engi was out of range of your arrows, was the engi using blocks or reflects?

I was right on him running behind him when he took off, so it wasn’t a range issue. If, it were block or reflect, I would have seen Block come up. Reflect I would have got feedback damage. I actually couldn’t get off a shot when he decided to run. I just chased him for a bit and nothing would come out…like I ran out of arrows, lol.
it might have been skill lag, if you were already in a fight with him and had him downed its unlikely it was a hack or exploit. The skill lag that has been going on for the last several weeks can happen randomly and not just in big fights, last night I was getting skill lag and rubberbanding on empty maps and at random times when taking enemy objectives when there was no resistance

Well…it looked like a hack, but I guess I don’t know for sure. It looked like he was able to avoid being killed but maybe he was having the same problem and wasn’t hitting me that much and decided to give up.
And you could’ve been blind.

Yeah, maybe pulses from smoke bomb if he was right on top of him. If your not sure, you may want to adjust the thread title, because it kind of suggest otherwise.
what setting do you have post processing on? because it will affect how blind affects your screen animations

I’m giving a sincere reply from XTD the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure that blind or any other skill isn’t going to affect me for that long. I’m sure when an engineer has his back to me and there’s nothing on the ground, and his health isn’t going up until he’s fully disengaged, that he should have been dead. I’m sure every time the engineer got close to death, I suddenly couldn’t hit him. So, yeah, the title would appear appropriate.
And with the flanking skill, just one shot during chasing him would have taken him out. Plus, he had a pet on him.
There is a trait that when you are hit under 25% health pops elixir s that makes engineers invulnerable. Either way, in my opinion, you shouldn’t claim hacking without certainty. As false positives makes dealing with those who are certainly hacking, to be dealt with.
How do you prove hacking? Sounds like an impossible goal? Short of someone just standing there and laughing at you while you can’t do anything, you’re asking for the impossible.
Just generally speaking, many people report what they believe is hacking on the forums when it is actually game mechanics that are responsible for the confusion, usually discussing hacks/exploits/glitches etc can get a thread shutdown and will end up not helping the OP get the answers they are looking for. We can only come up with possible scenarios as to what might have caused the issue because obviously none of us were there.
Heres one common thing people are confused about, when they see a warrior using an ele skill mist form, its actually caused by the rune of vampirism’s 6th bonus, but many players misintrepret it as hacking.

Dancingmonkey, the skill you’re talking about makes them tiny. That wasn’t the case.
I have leveled all the classes to max, which certainly doesn’t make me an expert, but I have some knowledge of the capabilities of the classes. I primarily play my ranger or necro in wvw.

Oh an that skill you’re talking about makes them tiny. That wasn’t the case.
It often does not display the form change. I assume it is an occasional bug. Which is why I mentioned it. So you may not want to be to quick to dismiss it. Just a thought.

Having a video of the gameplay helps.

This guy was probably using some sort of “lag switch”, manipulating the data he sends to the server maybe even the time stamps on the data, this will “displace” him and will make skills behave in ways the should not. Basically he will not be where he is shown on your screen and out of sync with you and the server so your stuff will not happen if it concerns him and his stuff will happen in “weird” ways like several abilities firing at the same time. A good indication for this is if “weird” stuff happens with regularity at convenient times in regards to your interaction with him but the game behaves normal in regards to other interactions. Typically you can not hit him but the guy next to him.
Might not be a cheat but a connection problem so it is next to impossible to detect and verify.
As long as the client is handling spatial data, it’s almost impossible to tell it’s a speed hack or a connection problem. I believe that is the exact reason CU is implementing server codes to handling spatial data.
these “issues” are becoming more commonplace. so either a great deal of people are encountering these issues and it’s an enormous coincidence or there is a lot more cheating going on than people care to admit. I’m gonna lean towards the second option.
