Sea of Sorrows--Henge of Denravi--Isle of Janthir--Update
Looks like an exciting tight match.
The balancing of servers is working amazingly.
looks real boring glad I did not follow my guild to SoS.
Edit: VI (Violent Impact) from dragonbrand to SoS.
I stopped bothering when SOS set up all the siege at spawn, don’t complain there’s no one to kill when you make it boring for the other side.
We spent an hour defending a keep out numbered, was still fun and I hope that SOS enjoyed it more than ballista killing noobs that walk out of the spawn.
I know we are getting smashed and we deserve that but when you are better/stronger than the other side being a poor sport just makes them not bother. You would earn more karma/silver and progress on achieves defending camps and keeps.
Have fun in tier one next week and I hope ioj shows up next week

in the middle of a special event, transfers – hardly a balancing issue. As long as there is free transfers a few mismatches are bound to happen surely you can understand this is the reason.

HoD and IoJ are moving down (IoJ might be stable), SoS is moving up.
Makes sense actually. The ranking system is based on trends over time. When you start winning your ranking score goes up. When you lose, you get passed by those who won because their ranking score is higher.
The more you lose/win and the extent to which you lose/win accurately measures how far you go down/up in ranks.
The current t1 servers replaced IoJ and HoD while SoS is moving up, this week’s match is a necessary evil.

No doubt SoS is moving up and really I’m glad they get their chance in Tier 1.
I just think it’s stupid free transfers are still available. Obviously this played a big part in SoS having a huge showing in WvW this week, while also leaving HoD practically empty.
Look at the graph… Boring match for all 3 sides and it lasts a whole week……
GET RID OF FREE TRANSFERS!
All I want is a balanced match ups. If whole guilds keep on screwing up the balance every week, then don’t expect WvW to stay populated.

Agreed on boring.
but its nothing about transfer or balance.
HoD yes, they have issues we all awear, they have no chance to fix it untill they dropped to tier 4 or below.
IoJ was the so called “current top 4 server”, I dont think even former HoD can beat the crap out of them like this. They just simply gave up for some reason I dont know. They cant even fill one BL on Saturday?
we really expected a good matchup, but, there it is…
Im really looking forward to the rematch next week
What happened to IoJ? Last week all I read was that “well I hope you guys see that we belong in T1”. Now it looks like they belong in about T6.
As for free transfers, I heard that it will be up until Asia/China gets the game.
Had a great time in EB today everyone! Looking forward to more fun nights.
Hats off to SoS they have whumped us. I was so dissapointed as an IoJ’er this weekend, the big difference was we had much fewer organised guilds, so it was pug siege and that is fine in part put terrible as the main.
For whatever reason, transfers, halloween melarkie, dissapointment/burn from last week IoJ simply didn’t get stuck in. SoS were complete opposite, organised, ruthless, lots of guilds running around doing good solid attack n defence.
You deserve your lead and promotion I hope to T1 SoS….IoJ we simply dont deserve it this week.
I hope we get back into things next week, I very much enjoy the WvW when its ‘on’.
As for Hendge…sad…just sad. Think I saw two organised groups all weekend and a few loners getting killed while vista-ring.
They should go back to 3 day matches until they remove free server transfers.

Yeah, this about sums it up.

No excuse of course but you can’t force people to do what they don’t want to do.
Just means I won’t buy any siege until I gain more cash, lost 10 arrow carts the other night in one camp takeover so… yeah. I tried to help less people do more, was a waste of money.
mehh. everyone’s a pve carebear this week
While I hope that our (IoJ) performance this week is just all the big WvW guilds taking the week off for a rest and the event, I do still agree with posters above that they need to shorten the matches down to a couple of days (3 day, or a 3 day / 4 day cycle to match up with the week) until free transfers are shut off. Until then, there are far to many fair-weather players hopping from server to server, if it was 3 day matches then while it wouldn’t stop them, things would change a lot quicker and the complete obliteration thats happening right now won’t be nearly so pronounced.
- Reduce the cost to upgrade keeps and buy siege or something to avoid the 24hr problem where nobody cared to spend money on stuff and for the love of the Pale Tree remove the orbs until the hacking is fixed and to stop the snowballing even when it is.
You don’t have to make transfers cost $/Gems just decrease the frequency from 1 free transfer per day to every 10 days. Sure you will still have some people move around, which is not a bad thing, not everyone finds the right server for themselves the first go and shouldn’t have to pay to find a home, but it would cut down drastically on people/guilds jumping server to server for a day here and there just to find some WvW action cause their match-up sucks this week.
Knowing you’d be guaranteed to miss your own servers match up the next week, would certainly give a lot of people pause before hopping away.
For anyone that played GW1 they’d know that you don’t played PvP during the event weeks because it’s bound to give really inconsistent results. Most teams just didn’t do GvG during these things, so you should expect some really weird results all through WvW.
I’m from IoJ and my hats are off to the guys of SoS, really solid assaults and defense. What I’m about to say isn’t in behalf of my server but that of my own opinion. We in IoJ have been outperformed, while I too hope that the big WvW guilds are just taking some time off for some rest or for the event (which may be the case of my guild where usually 25 or more would show up at our prime time is now down to less than 10) and that next week or perhaps after all the Madness the Mad King has bestowed upon us ends, we perform like the well-oiled machine we were weeks ago, well almost.
I do agree on part of the 3-4day matches until free transfers are shut-off, the current state of the servers’ balance is not worth waiting it out for one whole week, such as this week’s case, SoS has already won. World transfers would be great if one can do it perhaps once a month? or 10 days as stated by the poster/s before me.
And as for the orbs, this just makes things go out of control, it’s the symbol of greed. Hacker’s love to take it because it ensures their server get that bonus stat which make them almost godlike. Now if Anet does not want to remove the orbs, which I can definitely understand as it provides the object of longing other than the stonemist castle, why not change it to that of a utility rather than a stat booster? Like, oh I don’t know, perhaps a steady supply of… supplies after set amount of time to the keep it is placed in? or boosts dolyak travel time? or whatever other than stat boosts, coz’ the last thing a losing world will want is to fight godlike beings.
Well that’s it, but don’t think that we’re backing off from the fight, me, my still fighting guildies, and the other IoJ guys who are always on WvW will keep fighting because we love to fight and will still take this uphill challenge head on.
I’ll tip my hat to SoS as well. I’ve only been on IoJ for a week, but compared to what I saw last week vs JQ, SoS overall has much more advanced tactics. I can easily recall PRX stomping on many peoples faces Friday night, and still going on today.
They seem to use a lot of strategy I came accustomed to in Warhammer, the most simple being the bomb. I’ve seen them quite a few times hide behind keep walls, and then suddenly all rush the door invis, bombing everyone on the rams and anyone near the gate, killing them instantly. You see variations of this with mesmer portals as well. This is something I’ve yet to see anyone apply on this server in my short time. The majority of players are afraid to even enter a mesmer portal. I see no group invis bombs going on. I would guess if people were fighting and assisting more often than not, some of these keep assaults, like the one on Garrison last night, could have been much better.
The second reason I think we are losing has to do with the numbers of SoS. Seems to be much higher than what we have, not always, but most of the time. HoD also gave up instantly in this match up. I see almost no presence from them at any point during this entire weekend. I really think that having an entire server be more or less useless is really whats hurting us, if the other server was there making any kind of presence felt, I feel like that alone would give us more opportunity to overcome the 3 orbs and the beat down we’ve received thus far.
I transfered from Sorrows Furnace to IoJ to see some better WvW, even though we’re getting whopped, overall I am very impressed with the skill level of the servers in WvW. Good work SoS, IoJ, but not HoD, you get no love.

Based off Eternalight’s score update, my calculator gives:
Server 1 (IoJ) : New Rating: 1909.451 || Rating Delta: -112.255
Server 2 (HoD): New Rating: 1663.876 || Rating Delta: -132.461
Server 3 (SoS) : New Rating: 2020.891 || Rating Delta: 229.095

They won’t be able to jump up that much for Tier one. Maybe another week. SBI is ranked 2. JQ is ranked 1 and BG ranked 3. Next week will be BG, SBI, and JQ. Again. Unless SoS dominates and one of the others is destroyed tremedously in tier 1. That is the only way.

I was quite happy seeing some IoJ in the EB jumping puzzle today, I just let them be. Soon as they thought they seen one of my group members alone they pounced him though. Bad IoJ ! didn’t end well for them as they didn’t see the rest of us. My trust is broken

Had some great fun in EB tonight pushing SoS back!
Held them back for a while until all of ND logged off.
Score update is around 9:10am server time
I’ve been too busy with Halloween stuff and have not done any WvW for IoJ. I’m sure I am not the only one.
the true test will be this evening, last night wvw was picking up. now that people are finishing the lame halloween event, maybe we’ll actually put up a fight till Friday, would be nice to see.
I was really looking forward to this week. I was glad the halloween events came out but it really did ruin WvW. I expected such a high tier server like IoJ would be less interested in PvE and weapon skins.
Maybe I was wrong.
Hopefully we cross paths in the future when we’re not distracted though. I think SoS vs. IoJ vs. whoever else at this level really would be an insanely interesting matchup.
I had much fun playing SoR last week, but I’m not entirely sure I want to play a bitter SoR with a grudge next week
meh!

I remember getting rolled by IoJ when we(SoS) had no NA presence. We had great battles against the ND guild, they were everywhere. What happened? did some guilds leave IoJ or perhaps its the halloween event… something has changed from a few weeks ago and its not just our influx of NA guilds.
Some guilds must have left IoJ because there is no way that this Halloween event alone has completely ruined your chance this week. I am in a WvW guild on SoS and let me tell you, there were plenty of people doing the halloween event all week at any given time. There are endless amounts of people in LA doing halloween stuff… but you don’t see us losing. So for all the IoJ saying “darn halloween event makin us losee” give your head a shake. There is more than meets the eye!
We’ll have to see next week if this was truly the Halloween event. I have serious doubts…

I think that the explanation for the results this week is pretty simple.
IOJ went into this week unprepared not taking SoS seriously, they had a bad start against us, and we pressed and pushed hard relentlessly, it wasn’t long until their militia gave up and thought it was too hard, and then the rest of the server capitulates despite the best efforts of the IOJ WvW guilds.
The NA transfers to SoS happened 3 weeks ago (we had no American WvW community until now), anything that has happened to HoD since has not really done anything for SoS, I’m lead to believe that the majority of HoD transfers went to Blackgate and Sanctum of Rall.
We at Sea of Sorrows have long memories and are still bitter about how you guys demolished us weeks ago and then acted. But I respect IOJ as a WvW force and I think next week will be an amazing match up, if my calculations are correct it will be IOJ vs SoS vs SoR, we met SoR last week and it was a very even match up.
They say pictures are worth a thousand words. I can just think of one. Domination. GG IoJ and HoD.

I keep looking at this thread expecting IoJ to have closed the gap. Transfers hitting them, or did they just give up? Kind of disappointing if a former T1 just says meh. I get HoD suffering with the mass exodus, so they get a pass… but come on man!
Sanctum of Rall – [Choo]
IoJ is fine. We have always been placed somewhere around #5-7, and will remain so. The only reason we got bumped to T1 was for the ratings-adjustment as HoD and ET trickled down from the spectacular collapse of Titan Alliance and Ascension Alliance.
IoJ filled in as #3 for T1 and everyone involved (JQ/SBI) had a great match. We were glad to see in the last 2 days of the match, SBI coming from a major point deficit and pull off their first T1 victory.
Many of the Titan/Ascension alliance guilds transferred to Blackgate.2 and SoS.2
Those servers will likely take the former positions of HoD and ET, and IoJ will remain where it has always been.
Next weeks matchup hopefully will be awesome. IoJ generally doesn’t do well in 1v1’s or in 3ways with a weak third server. But if SoR.2 (they had x-fers apparently) is as good as we are hearing, a SoS vs SoR vs IoJ should be awesome.
If you’re looking for specific reasons for IoJ not showing up:
-IoJ went all out for T1 and needed a week off.
-Candy Corn LOL. Those Mini-pvp games are fun as hell, seriously.
-IoJ is terrible and should fall down to Tier F. F is for fail.
We’ll find out next week for sure!

It was more like a single IoJ player goes in and runs from the 20+ SoS at the start, the water, the top of the Well, the Dark Room, and the Arena….
If that IoJ saw a single SoS player, they fought right away instead of risking getting killed.
I’ve never seen so many players in a jump puzzle simply waiting to kill 1 player. Come back an hour or two later, and the same SoS players are there.

IoJ is wondering the same. Halloween was expected to interfere for a bit, but come on, it takes only an hour and you are done until the next Act. And since IoJ did so well in Tier 1, it is just disappointing that so many players didn’t even bother to come out.
There is no excuse for Sat and Sun to not have closed the gap to even. IoJ is not much of a community server. By that, I mean they rely on certain guilds and commanders to rally the people. Without them, people will not group to do anything. IoJ will not respond. It’s a PuG server of every player for themselves.
When it gets to that point, you’ll notice IoJ will suicide like lemmings by running into enemy players. They become free kills. Telling the IoJ players about other routes around the enemy is pointless. They still suicide. Siege is placed in AoE-able locations. IoJ doesn’t run the jump puzzles to help supply their server. They run from fights they can win. They respond slowly to calls for help or targets to hit…
Without the main force to embolden the rest… IoJ (as a whole) is like HoD or ET. Only a few hold the server together. IoJ rubberbands all over in performance, and this has been happening since before Halloween.
There is rumor that after the first 24 hours, many just hopped to SoS to have an easy week. After all, they can hop back later (if they even bother).
Usually, the problem in pvp games is “too many Chiefs and not enough Indians”. Well… we don’t have enough Chiefs. Or, players just don’t respond to the sensible commands given. Or they respond to the nonsense commands and go after poor targets.
It is night and day when our regulars show up. People play intuitive and well. Makes you wonder why we don’t have that at other times. Can write a research paper on great and poor communication and teamwork by studying IoJ.
To be honest with you, yes, it’s boring this week. I’m not going to assign any blame for that, it’s just a dull week for WvW. Unfortunately for IoJ, at this rate they’ll also be stuck with us and SoR next week. Not really sure if the prospect of a three-way competitive match will draw them out of their shells, but I’m honestly hoping so as I’d quite like a good three-way match with SoR involved, after the last one against them was basically 1v1 for a large chunk of it.
That said, it is the Halloween events this week, so I’m sure there’s at least a few people that are thankful that they can take the time off and actually enjoy the event rather than spending every second of the hours and hours they may be on just on WvW. Christ, last time I checked, the ones still in WvW were just messing around costume brawling most of the time.
Oh, for the record though, Inter, the vast majority of our NA transfers came from Dragonbrand. We had PRX from HoD and we may have had another couple from HoD or elsewhere that escape me at the moment, but as I say, the vast majority came from DB. Just seems that that combined with our existing strengths makes one heck of a force to be reckoned with.

Ah. All i knew was FoE from ET and PRX and some others from HoD. I kept hearing things about dragonbrand or something but didn’t know it was to SoS.
What confuses me the most is how SoR went toe to toe with you guys but IoJ can’t seem to match that, and if thats due to transfers or something. I don’t think IoJ has fought SoR before.
Last night at the IOJ Borderlands Garrison was pretty unreal. Thanks to the commanders for keeping their cool and doing what needed to be done. It was sheer chaos at times with SOS breaking down gates all over the place and storming the lords room over and over. It was a small victory and we ended up losing the rest of the map because of it, BUT it was pretty kitten fun to bash heads for so many hours straight. I recorded about 30 minutes of video which i will hopefully be putting up on youtube this week.
Even though the scores are crazy lopsided and we are down 3 orbs in stats, we put on a pretty good show for everybody. I can’t wait for next weeks matchup
Roamer: 99.99% BLs / 0.01% EB
ppl keep saying that the only reason SoS rises is xfer. which is not true.
During fight against SoR, we lose 200+ easy at NA primetime. PRX FoE and other transfers can hold EB and maybe 1 BL max, they can keep ppt between 150-200, SoR get around 400+
the real advantage of SoS is the oceanic prescence. we still learning, we dont have the skills or organisation as PRX, but compared with Oceanic players from other world, we have numbers. That why the W3 went toe to toe. SoR earns10k NA time, SoS gets 20k Oceanic time. SoS gave up 30 hrs for events last week, or the final score would be more straight.
Bet SoS night crew vs day crew? I put my money on NA guys, but they are just a little bit better. The thing is, we Oceanic players never need to fight NAs, do we?
HoD hit 10k points. They’re moving on up!

@RiversOnFire: It’s actually EU time that SoR got +400 on us. I can’t think of a single time SoR went over 300 during NA primetime (it starts right around now). It was generally us NA guys logging on to SoR having most of the map and we’d have to fight back through that till about 10pm.

Yeah, not sure why that is. Possibly IoJ just realised that as long as they do better than HoD, they will be matched with SoS and SoR next week anyway, so chose to take a break this week. Dunno. I wouldn’t write them off just yet, can only wait till next week and see what the result are from that.
