Hey everyone, I’m Tg Hawkeye a commander on Sea of Sorrows and current member of Oathbound. It’s been a long journey to tier 1 from tier 4 and full of challenges, great matches, and a ton of different experiences I haven’t had in a long time in large scale PvP. I’m making this post to basically say thank you to all the guilds and friends that have put a ton of hours and money into getting us to where we are. From Fang, SG, ZN, AGG, PRX, Work, DR, Tsym, DoP, Sexy, Ftw, FOE, LEM, DM, MERC, AFS, DiE, OCX, Oath, HUG, TS, PW, DDA, and many more.
As we wrap up our first week in tier 1 I’d like to say it’s been a blast playing against SBI, JQ, SoR, IoJ, and everyone else along the way. We’ve learned from playing against you guys, and have adapted our tactics from playing against all of you. With each new challenge our guilds practiced and stepped up our game to meet each challenge we faced. Getting more organized, creating strategies with guilds and militia, portal bombing, stacking, flanking, learning siege spots, callouts, and much more have all been fun to learn and implement along the way. Also learning each new guilds strengths and weaknesses and getting to know each other better had its challenges and while first impressions might have varied, over time presented its own obstacle. Over time we have learned to work with each other and take advantage of each of our own talents from AGG’s aggressive play to Tsym, PRX, or Work’s large scale tactics, to Dragonriders, ATAC, and Oath who do recon and more tactical play. We have all have become something bigger than an alliance; we have come together as a server. All of the guilds that I listed previously and more have worked together on more than one occasion and if I missed you please comment and show your guilds flags and colors because we couldn’t have done it without everyone!
I’d like to give special thanks to Kurthos, Coran, KV, and all the other commanders and map coordinators that put in the long hours and organization we needed to get this far. From people such as Solva and Mawther who I’ve seen alone or doing the smaller stuff that is everywhere near as important such as guarding a dolyaks or supply camps, to scouts such as Laz Ruin, Turrk, Subliminal notions, and our defensive teams, thank you so much! It’s just been a pleasure in the long run working with everyone.
I know that there have been the trolls and annoying folks that are everywhere and they were frustrating and at times made me not want to WvW anymore. But it’s taking Stonemist back in Tier 4 with 60 guys we gathered from all borderlands and EB, to people thanking me for helping make it easy to get into and understand WvW, and holding onto an orb for 5 hours in the hopes it’ll help our night forces make a bigger push. Talking and playing with wonderful people from all over the world from Australia, New Zealand, Korea, China, Singapore, Indonesia, The Philippines, Canada, England, and all of the US from Seattle, LA, Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Tampa, Des Moines, Denver, New York city, and much more has been a treat. You all have made it worth it time and again to get out there and play from when we are crushing them to the point we have had nothing left.
Finally this is to Anet. You have a wonderful game type with WvWvW and there are so many thing you could do to keep improving it and making game play more interesting from adding new siege and upgrades, to more commander options to organize players, being able to see squad and guild members as different colored dots on the map, and even new maps or layouts. I would hate to see this game mode die out because of a lack of attention. I would love to keep learning, adapting and playing against new servers and guilds in the future.
Sea of Sorrows is my home server and I look forward to fighting on it for years to come! And in the comments make sure to shout out your guild, friends, and the players who have made WvW a fun experience for you and I’ll see you all on the battlefield.
