Why, you ask, is the world #1 WvW server still looking for more players?

Any capable and forward looking organization looks to think ahead. Like any organization in the world, employees come and go, customers come and go, funding is received and spent. Just because we are fine today does not mean we are fine tomorrow. Sea of Sorrows was not built overnight with an amazing hardcore WvW alliance like other top tier servers of old. SoS was built over several months of persistence, dedication and discipline. Many guild leaders pulled extra hours apart from game time as we put emphasis and recruitment, marketing, training, diplomacy, etc.

While SoS does not have any official internal guild alliance, it is perhaps the most cohesive environment I have ever seen in an MMO. There is no in fighting, no bickering, no drama. Yet we still reached number 1 without all the hardcore elitism. We all know our goal and our role to make it happen. That is why we are number 1.

We have no intention to let Sea of Sorrows fall into disrepair. So recruitment efforts will continue unrelenting.

So, ask yourself this: Is this a server community you want to be a part of?

You will not find many players if atall any from india. Gw2 is too expensive there. I had to wait until i moved to dubai to play:(

This doesn’t even make sense. Why just India? Why does the number 1 server need help?

Bumping for SOS coverage, also the only other area we have weak representation from is the Uzbekistanian region.

We only have 1 or 2 guilds from that area and could stand to increase our Uzbekistanian population.

Please if you are from Uzbekistan consider SOS as your new home. Just that and India is where we are somewhat light.

In this world, a lot of people like to undermine other people’s efforts and their ability without looking at the facts, just so they can give themselves an excuse for losing. Let’s look at the facts:

1. After the mass transfer, Sea of Sorrows has just as many NA guilds as any other server. During US prime time, our scores are relatively even. It is only after US prime that SOS seems to pull ahead. Why? Because our NA players put in extra time and effort to hold their ground well after other servers’ NA teams have gone to sleep.

2. Sea of Sorrows has just as many WvW focused oceanic guilds as any other server in Tier 1, 2 and possibly 3. Infact, our oceanic core WvW groups only consists of 2 major WvW guilds and several small-medium size guilds. We are in no better position than other top tier servers. We don’t night cap all maps when other sleep, no one can do that after reaching tier 2. Again, we pull ahead infront of other servers after Oceanic prime time when our Oceanic, European and Asian players pull extra hours everyday, sleeping at around 3am – 5am every day after a long day of work, to hold our ground.

So you can keep trying to attribute our success to windfalls or acts of God. But no, we did it through hard work and persistence and our eye bags and beaten bodies is testament to it.

When the original post was originally posted, there was absolutely no indication of why SoS was recruiting players specifically from India. My original response gently poked fun at this lack of clarity.

I avoided the obvious pitfall of looking for quality curry recipes, free tickets to see East Bengal FC, etc and went for something that is a source of economic growth for that fine country. Note also not even the merest SNIFF off a Slumdog Millionaire reference.

If you want to play on a Tier 1 server, wining and dining on someone else’s success, sure, go to SoS. If you want to play on a Tier 500 server, come to Gunnars Hold. Cheap laughs, cheap booze and cheap women*. In unrelated news, custard.

*This is not as sexist as it first sounds. Most of our hotties readily admit they work for chocolate cake. Some of them even are female.

Have you considered Kenya? Mobile telecommunication coverage is poor right now but with a 19% year on year jump in mobile internet usage, there is significant growth potential in the domestic market. In time this could mean that people can WvW on their laptops, tablet computers and phones on the way to school, during their lunch break or even under the desk whilst at work so the towers and keeps never fall.

It may be worth spinning off a division of SoS players for political lobbying efforts on behalf of Kenyan telecom startups or multinationals moving into the region. Good idea no?

Some very fine coffee brands also come from Kenya, which would compliment the 24/7 nature of WvW perfectly. SoS should seriously look at this.

SOS plans to extend its recruitment efforts to the less populated areas of Africa in the next recruitment phase.

It is during that phase that we will target Africa, pirate vessels at sea capable of internet usage, and research teams stationed in Antarctica.

We hope to also gather more players from the international space station and we are working closely with SETI to ensure if life is found elsewhere in this universe, that life will be playing GW2 on Sea of Sorrows.

Not all posts in this thread strike me personally as funny, some do and others I give the benefit of the doubt as attempts at comedy..

I would suggest though, please read your post prior to hitting submit. If it serves no purpose other than to inflame, or get threads closed, consider using backspace a number of times.

What’s the point of stacking more people in T1? I find it ironic there’s one thread crying about how WvW is becoming stale and then a few other threads from T1 and T2 servers trying to recruit and lock more people into these already overwhelming presences.

Wouldn’t the entire WvWvW ecosystem thrive with more competition? If anything, a few more guilds from T1 (maybe just a few from T2 too) should start looking at the lower tiers to fill those gaps. I don’t see anyone fondly reflecting on TA’s old deathgrip.

As a responsible participant in the WvW community, it’s my duty to voice my opinion and tell Anet about the problems, that does not mean I don’t do something about it on my own to offset their delay in reaction. We can’t just blame others, we need to have a contingency for the external setbacks too.

So your solution to having T1 being dominated by one stacked server is to continue to stack the stacked server.

So other people eventually give up and go elsewhere because it’s obvious they can’t compete with said server, and then the server itself gives up because nobody wants to play with them anymore. Hmm, where have I heard this before?
