Season 2 Rewards
Don’t get me wrong, me server will probably be above 300 anyway but rewarding players for stacking on high pop servers while others can’t even afford a single skin after 2 months of hard work would seem a bit off.
But that’s exactly what’s going to happen. You’ll only get one of these if your server is placed 5th or better. Anet and their reward system.
Really makes you want to play… anything else.
Yip, the servers that do not have the coverage will not get the rewards they deserve for fighting an uphill battle for 2 months. They will work harder get beat up worse and have their Morale challenged on several occasions only to be slapped in the face at the end of it all.
badges fall like rain in the spring, the only people who will actually have to work to collect them are the pve only players who don’t stockpile thousands of the useless things. im sure you three will be just fine in getting your skins by the end of the tournament as long as you play casually in wvw
Season 1 : rewards were mostly not affected by the server position, so that there was no real incentive to stack on winning servers and there was no issue like “lots of effort but wrong server = no reward, few effort but right server = lots of rewards”.
But … everyone cried ! Dozens of threads about the rewards being bad or not tied enough to server position , lots of people whining ingame.
Now Anet makes a new system : rewards really depends on the server position while still being correct for everyone (last place = 40% of 1st place and tickets can be stacked with next tournament’s ones), also we can choose our rewards with the tickets system, AAAND the whole reward system was explained long before the tournament so that everyone knows whether they wants to get involved in WvW or not (knowing that those rewards come in addition to usual WvW loot/wxp)
And what happens ? People cry again.
While I agree that the rewards should not depend on the server position too much in order to avoid incentive to leave servers that are already weak and join servers that already have queues and because the server position doesn’t show the personal involvement, I think that a not-too-important part of the rewards should depend on it (what’s the point of rewards if they are the same for everyone and there is no incentive to actually win ?).
Also, It is clear that no matter what Anet does, some people will be unhappy.

Those are heard no matter what happens and will be heard if Anet implements the exact system Herr wants.

I know. Isn’t it exciting! I love fighting in silver league where servers are either way so overpopulated thanks to free transfers that they just blob everything for easy wins, or a server is so dead that they put up no fight at all leaving some matchups a 1v1. WvW working at intended I’m sure!
I’m assuming things aren’t much better down in bronze league in some matchups either.

I told them to reward the lowest scoring servers the most, but did they listen? I’m just a player, what do I know?
Only a WvW player knows which server to transfer to, to get a Mistforged Weapon.

Why would they “listen to” nonsence ?
If the rewards must be inequal, then they are the incentive to win and actually do your best in WvW.
Rewarding most the lowest servers would encourage trolling, anti-game, and everything that is against the “more involvement and resistance to low morale” you want to reward when you say that.
What is behind your idea is to reward involvement, and being on a losing server doesn’t prove involvement. There may be a few hardcore WvW players that involve a lot but also lots of PvE players who just got the meta-achievement while not actually helping their server.
If you want to reward involvement, the only option is the measure it in some way on a player-per-player basis. Which is probably very hard or impossible to do (just give ma one of the obvious options and I’ll tell you why it won’t be a good one) … which is why Anet went for a meta-achievement that proves you actually played WvW during tournament and deserve you server’s rewards.
If the rewards must be inequal, then they are the incentive to win and actually do your best in WvW.
The only “incentive” here is to pay for a server transfer.

I wouldn’t say Bronze is quite as kittenilver when it comes to stacked servers, GoM/DR/DH/SF are all decent size. DR probably received the most transfers in Bronze but it was no where near the extent of HoD. They are doing well but its not like they received so many that they don’t have to work for anything. Silver is more fubar then bronze, we really only have ET & Ebay that are suffering and even they put up a fight.

Oddly BP sent most of its people to FA, Mag and TC. There are few BP players on HoD that I have seen but I fight far more of them on FA. I actually think T1/T2 got most of the transfers. HoD’s influx was substantial but I do not think it was 3/4 of the transfers.

Also, a lot of the people who transferred off of BP weren’t necessarily looking for easy season reward winnings like the numerous players who went to HoD. They were looking for fights in some form or another. Larger fights to those who transferred up, and smaller, non-blob fights for those who transferred down. BP also guilds transfer to CD and FC.

HoD was no guarantee of easy winnings. When our guild transferred over pretty much everyone thought FA was going to roll over HoD. Nobody knew if HoD could even beat SBI, IoJ and YB since they were facing CD/NSP at the time.
We left because BP was in free fall and didn’t want to spend money on transfers but wanted to stay in the middle tiers. HoD rising to the number one spot and dominating was a surprise to me.

I find most PVE players are joining “Edge of the Avoiding the Enemy While Capping Npc Guarded Special Objective Mists” or EAEWCNGSOM for short.
Its a better champ/karma train than anything in pve and gives badges of honor for avoiding the enemy.
In all fairness to players on the EoTM map, it’s been horribly lopsided during the tourney. I love playing my mesmer there to to push/pull players off bridges but even I’ve been backing away when the Overgrowth blob is coming across a bridge.
And yeah, as a train goes it really can’t be beat by anything in PvE these days.
Now then, about the the rewards for lower ranked servers in each league…

And don’t come saying to me it wasn’t. I have a friend in Blackgate (which was top gold season 1), and I’m from Eredon Terrace (Which was dead last bronze season 1). And I’ll tell to you, I got much better stuff (cuz i was lucky and got more liquid wxp) than my friend.

I personally don’t play much WvW because of the horrible optimisation
and fps issues but i got the meta on eotm since i don’t want to
take away a spot from someone who actually wants to do wvw on the real maps
and i think rewards should not be awarded based on a servers placement but on
each individuals effort.
If that means i have to do much more wvw and actually get involved to help my server, so be it; i want the skin! I find it unfair that players who do much more to help their server than me get nothing worthwhile (and yes, I’m on a ‘winning’ server).
edit: What i’d wish for is: award tickets based on the number of finished meta achievements and rank up their difficulty a bit to a number of 600 tickets per account which equals to skins per season maximum.
I was just pointing that he is wrong saying season 1 was the same.
I never said season 2 rewarding isn’t stupid for giving better prizes because of superior skill coverage.
