Sentries
or make sentry go and take hills by itself unless a zerg of 50 comes and kills it in less than 3 minutes!
Couple of different posts on sentries out there. That said, would love if they could be upgraded just like objectives. Example, first upgrade doubles the numbers, second upgrades adds some range to the sentry post. Third upgrade adds a Cabalist, 4th upgrade makes the sentry post act like a sentry turent in EoTM and shows enemy dots in area of effect. Likewise an option to add a patrol to area.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Thats nice idea I was also thinking that they should scale with outnumbered buff so when much bigger zerg hits you they can over take ac,canons etc and give some time for def , regroup against much stronger, bigger blob
Some Upgrade Ideas:
1) Road Block – Creates barricades around the sentry point that causes the Dolyaks, and possibly enemy players, to receive a slowed debuff while traveling through the Sentry area. Once the barricades are destroyed, the debuff ends until the barricades respawn.
2) Checkpoint – Gives the sentry guard, or possibly the sentry point itself, an aura that gives some swiftness to ally players and NPCs nearby.
3) Hire Additional Guards – As the name implies, gives 2 additional guards for a sentry point.
4) Deploy Scout – Places a respawning sentry turret, like the ones in EotM, at the sentry point.
An idea:
Speak to the sentry after you have captured it. If you have supplies on you, you can order a sentry upgrade. This upgrade will cost 10 supplies and there will be a total of two upgrades. The first increases the sentry’s level to 82. The second, also requiring 10 supplies will increase the sentry’s aggro/leash radius. Each upgrade takes 2minutes and lasts until the sentry is captured. Holding an upgraded sentry awards no additional points but will be significantly more difficult for solos or even duo’s to take, but still an easy flip for groups/zergs.
I think these changes would add a little more dynamics to sentry’s and would make it more difficult for roamers to slip by them without being chased down.

no, no, no!
thats how people whined about ac’s and how they need more power so they could defend 5 guys against 10.000! and they got it. but they forgot that those 10.000 also can build ac’s…
we don’t need any more buffs that make game automated. actually we need to have everything back to normal. no more npc/ siege buffs.
do you guys understand my english? if you buff something in wvw, it means that it can be even more used/ abused by bigger numbers. is that clear? that concept? sry for my english… i am not sure i am getting out there… its not my 1st language… pls respond if im not being clear here.

I don’t see how a single veteran npc being able to take down a dolyak can help the dominant force more than the smaller one…

I believe all NPC guards should report enemy movement on the WvW map. A little alert icon for each NPC seeing enemy movement and a popup box when hovering over the icon stating approximate numbers of enemy forces.
This would create a real reason for guard posts and require more effort during sneak attacks. This would also help dispatch players to areas needing attention causing an increase in overall number of fights.

Orange swords used to pop up when there were 5 people in combat in the area (prior the 25 man change). People cried about how they were spotted everytime.

Yeah. Sentrys should take down dollys and MAYBE should show enemys on maps as sentry turrets in eotm

It would still allow these types of attacks but they would have to be planned better. Essentially a group would send a scout ahead to dispatch guards along the way or would simply take less direct routes. Either way it adds an extra element to this type of fighting… IMO a good one that requires more strategy and less brute force.
