Devon, how does making the NA sever reset to 9pm EST benefit the actual NA time zones?

For those eastern and centarl time zone and have to work on a Saturday you just made it painful to play. Sure they can attempt to play for an hour or two. Oh wait half of that time will be spend in queue to play WvW.

For the last 8 months or so a large amount of players from PST have had to deal with waiting in queue because most of the spots are taken by players from the East Coast before PST players even get home from work. Now both sides will have a number of people in queue instead of it mostly being PST players. East Coast players have been able to be there, and will still be able to be there for reset. PST players went from having a slim to no chance of being there for reset to a decent chance. I think the change is more than justified.

Ironic that you claim that devs are only thinking of PST when the truth is that you’re only thinking of EST.

Heh, now isnt the EU a little too early now? Wouldnt 20:00/21:00 UTC be better, ie.e 9pm for both EU and NA local times.

I’m not in EST, I’m MST and also do not work Saturdays. Thanks for assuming so well.

My issue is not with my play time, it is with ArenaNet stating NA server times reset to benefit NA servers.

18:00 UTC is 20:00 CEST, which is what we have now in most of Europe. One hour earlier for UK, one hour later for eastern Europe. One hour earlier without DST, so the earliest reset will be 18:00 for UK outside of DST. I guess that’s fine.

I’ll say my piece at the behest of many… I despise this change personally. I loved it when the server resets were made earlier (11pm UTC).

As a european player, I play with many friends on the US servers but players like myself are getting screwed over. It was harsh enough having to wait for 1am, then a blessing to be made 11pm, now a stab to the back at the new 2am time. Seems even more of us will miss the best night to go to WvW.

PS: missing the first few hours isn’t as bad as missing the reset day completely.

This is a change for the better. While it’s a little too early for me personally in the EU, it’s a much better change and so much more appealing than sitting up at 1am waiting for the servers to reset with a 1/4 of your usual forces.

9pm EST is kind of late for people on the east coast. It should have stayed at 6pm EST.

I’m na and play euro server and while I wish I could be home for rest I think this is the best way to do it. So if u live in euro and play na then u can just deal

9 PM Eastern is perfect, but why is this announcement only a thread on a forum? Half my server didn’t even know and it’s been 4 days…

I live in NA, and I like to spend more than a few ours in WvW on reset night. Why would you move it so late?

Whereas I, for one, think that reset should happen on a randomly determined number, and I will complain loudly until the devs bend to my whim!

I like the new reset times. It is better for most people than 6pm EST. I probably would have kept it at 8pm EST but 9 isn’t too bad.

this is completely bull kitten..why the hell make reset for WvW LATER?! i thought you guys changed it EARLIER and was ecstatic… this is just stupid.. completely stupid. I will most usually never be able to play AT reset now…well kittened up.

Also, reading this there’s a lot of confusion as to the actual reset time; Why don’t you just post it as SEVER TIME so people can just look at their in game clock to see. (Or change it from local to server for a brief moment)

a lot of people sitting around watching the matches not resetting. for a good 30 mins. gg.nr.

I for one appreciate the change to 6pm PDT/5pm PST. 4pm is too early for west coast workers when the fall rolls around.

Any server with worthwhile WvW playing will have people checking these forums daily, said people will then talk about it in game, so even those that do not visit the forums will find out.

Thank you for the change! It was great having guild groups active at reset, I’m expecting it’ll be better next week when everyone has actually learned when the new reset time is.

no, it is unacceptable. a change like this warrants a globally accessed post. not a thread in a forum.

and as for your great little jab at worthwhile servers for wvw. when we get up to whatever tier you are on, or maybe we are even past it. we will crush you. we started at the bottom, and we have been rising fast.

I had to correct tons of people on my friends list, who are hardcore wvwers, on when the reset time actually was, so yeah, a more public announcement would’ve been good

They did put it at 5pm PST. Which, since we are in Daylight savings in the US, currently, is 6PM PDT.

They like to be able to say “This happens at XX:XX UTC” – and keeping it at the same time UTC means anywhere that practices daylight savings will have it shift around an hour when daylight savings begins/ends.

So why is east coast automatically more important than west coast, apparently?

New reset time worked out super well on TC, at least for our guild and friends.

being on the east coast, of course i liked the 7/8 pm est, but i am used to having resets/events take place from GW1 at Noon PST/3:00 PM EST. since a lot of the player base is from gw1, i think most players would be comfortable with a 3:00 PM EST / 12:00 Noon PST wvw reset timer.

just my 2 copper.

Thank you for separating the NA and EU reset times Anet. My sleeping schedule has imporved, and we can play on resets against Russian opponents too <3.
