Nar: I love that it will take me time and money to
reach the same level I’m at right now… …said no one, ever.
Would be nice to have.
Yeah, guess you and I are the only ones that agree…=\
Not necessarily. More likely it’s that you two are the only ones who think ANet might ever do anything about it.
I thought I read that they were contemplating doing something of this sort somewhere. It was in a developer chat or something I thought.
Yeah it’s a good idea. It’s annoying to keep having to switch traits whenever I come from pve into wvw. That is actually the reason why I made 2 chars. My necro is for wvw and guardian is for pve. Just because it got annoying swapping armors and traits all the time.
I just made an Ele. My D/D build and gear work equaly well in solo pve, dungeons and wvw (i often use staff here but no need to retrait or change gear). But I do agree that it would be nice to have this, as its not so easy for every class out there.
I wouldn’t mind at least a pre-set template I can hot-swap to that changes gear, utilities, and trait build. Maybe have a little storage area in your character’s menu for the gear, so it doesn’t use up all of your regular inventory space.

did nice to have that…
a separate tab to equip for wvw
Ive always felt they dropped the ball here. They should have had a “locker system”, with tabs where you could have separate builds and just click a tab to change to that build. Even if they only gave you one tab to start, there are plenty of people out there I’m sure, myself included, who would happily pay 1k gems for a feature like this. Basically it would be the same as what they already have with armor and town clothes tab. And it could be payed for just like adding extra bank slots. But nope. They don’t want my money.
I’d settle for the quick template code system from GW1 although now we are getting quartz nodes in home instances it would be good if there was a quick home travel icon (similar to the WvW one) at the top of the screen.
If they could add on a wardrobe vault and have a quick way to choose skills, traits & armor sets while there it would make home instances really useful. Throw in an npc fashion adviser with a magic mirror to show off the current most popular looks (or just a random set) for your class & profession and Bob’s your tailor. Add an option to use that to set-up any required achievement views and an optional filter for items that need gems and I could see the home instances becoming seriously useful.
Don’t worry about a banker though. Ebon Gnashblade can invoice us by mail and send around a couple of charr debt-collectors when we default – as most of us would for a humorous cut-scene thrown in.
I would love a tab for WvW equipment/traits, I even don’t mind that I have to use PvE gear in there, just want to be able to easy swap between builds.
About fees to change traits, the trainer in WvW maps should reset the traits in the WvW tab and the trainer in PvE maps should reset the PvE traits tab.
I agree and would love this feature! Bump
This would be a nice feature. Call me lazy but when ever I go into PvE my WvW build is now a PvE build
Was mentioned during beta as something they would like to include eventually. I have no idea whether that is still the case, or if the developer who said that even still works there.
Sure would be nice.

Even the devs have refered to wvw as pve. The main difference is there are different ways to exploit npc’s limitations that simply don’t work on players, and vice versa.
Pve is a place to practice things for wvw for which spvp simply has no translations.
Ya know, I think they were already nice enough to separate PvP builds from PvE builds.. Don’t you think asking to have them separate PvE from WvW builds is a bit much? I dunno about anyone else, but most games I’ve played don’t just let me change my character every time I switch what aspect of the game. I usually have to use the same thing for both PvP and PvE.
They should have designed the system using the GW method which is templates. Players could save, load and even share template codes. There was no cost to change skills/traits around which encouraged experimentation.
