Server Alliances
Server alliances do not work, because you do not control a server population. A few organized people can try to make a truce, but it does not help if everybody else does not know about it or does not care.
People behave like idiots because they can, because they want easy loot and they like to feel powerful when stomping weaker players.
The tournament season would be more fun if battles would be more balanced by game mechanics, but Anet does not have the will or the guts to change that. They favour a very aggressive play style in WvW (just take a look at all the offensive abilities), created metas for a few classes (Thief, Mesmer) and actually encourage mass over tactics pretty much everywhere.
As long as basic game mechanics for underdog participants are not changed (e.g. buy the activation of Siegerazor for 5 badges, auto-kicks for AFK people that prevent the Outmanned buff for your team, double the allied NPCs when you are outmanned etc.) any attempted on cross server alliances are destined to fail.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)

All you really have to do is get ahold of a popular driver.
well i guess i was thinking of something more official like so you could actually chat in the wvw. and you could actually have attacking the allied server disabled or something.
but if that doesnt work why not just decreased damage to which ever team isn’t currently winning. to encourage players to not just fight which ever server is vulnerable
As has already been said, you can’t control an entire server, so alliances don’t work. I certainly wasn’t informed of any alliances (EBay player). The only time I saw an attempt at an alliance, or rather a truce, was when a commander in map chat announced that they made an agreement with the red server where if they didn’t attack our towers, we won’t attack theirs. That “truce” lasted less than a minute.
Even a game feature where you can’t attack an allied server would do nothing to resolve the population imbalance as you are effectively merging two servers (what if two more highly populated servers were allied against one smaller server?), which ruins the concept of WvWvW.
well why would 2 high population servers want to ally against the smaller one. that would mean one of them is agreeing to lose
i just think something needs to change so its not just whoever has the bigger zerg wins.
Alliances have formed and have seen success. The servers generally agree to stay out of each others areas. They also generally agree that towers and camps are fair game for the smaller squads. Only keeps are to be left alone. Since it often takes a larger force to flip a keep, this tends to work well enough.
I do agree that servers should be given an incentive to go after the currently winning server in a tier. The larger the lead the better the incentive.

Too many brainless noobs in this game for unofficial alliance to work often.
I play many RvR games before and the two smaller realm always attack the big dog.
But majority GW2 player are casual carebear and have no skill so they go for easier target.
Sometimes all it takes is smarter drivers and voices in the community.
During the leagues, every time servers should 2v1 the stronger server. No one in NA Silver is going to enjoy themselves unless they are 2v1’ing the T3 servers all the time.
