Q:
Server Loyalist/Veteran
Because anet want to make money .But yes i find also that player who stay and dont transfer for X amount of time should be rewarded with some cool stuff(WvWvW Tickets?) + a cool title.
That’s an easy one, because if you don’t freaking transfer out, Anet cannot earn a freaking penny from all you WvWers.
Anet actually HATES loyalists, so don’t bother thinking you loyalists would be rewarded with anything.
It wasn’t buy to win. Many people took advantage of FREE transfers to move to servers that had a high probability of winning. Of course these people had excellent business acumen to go to the servers that will be granted the most rewards. Not much to say about the servers they left behind except that 500 tickets is way better than 200 tickets.
Most players pick a server initially by using some arbitrary means when they first log in.
Why stay “loyal” to a server that is picked by some random chance? Why should someone be rewarded for stagnation?
Besides a player meets more people by moving around and has a better chance of meeting a larger circle of online friends by transferring on occasion. Who knows, your next best online mate may be one transfer away.

As someone who’s never transferred and played since pre-release I can tell you that to me this question is silly. It’s not loyalty to a piece of hardware that houses where you play – aka the server I picked at random on release. It’s loyalty to the community that’s formed as a result of a group of people making that random choice which keeps me there.
The vast majority of people/guilds that xfer do it with gold, which is earned in-game. It is a misnomer that “everyone” that xfers is using gems, thus making ANET money….
Stop trying to find a reason on why people are leaving crappy servers, in crappy situations….The fact of the matter is that this is a game, there is no loyalty (nor should there be; again just a game), and people are going to do in large part whatever they please.

your are so wrong, i only play wvw and im a server loyalist, i spend alot on gems.
i could say Anet hates dungeon zerkers and nerf their farm becouse they avoid to buy gems? yet i know im wrong also.

I’ve been on the same server since launch (Blackgate) and I’ve spent a few hundred dollars on gems. That’s not really the issue.
The issue is that a community is really difficult to maintain and it’s much easier to join an existing community than to foster one yourself. There’s no reason to stay on a server which had their community had collapse unless you can’t afford the gems, besides one very good reason – to rebuild that community. It sure takes a lot of time, money (TS/Mumble server, forum host, domain registration amongst some of the costs involved) and effort though.
Transfers are in the game for a reason and there is no reason not to use it to get a better gaming experience. It just becomes an issue when it starts to affect a significant portion of the player base when it gets out of control (mass transfers such as pre S1 T1 servers and pre S2 HOD and Gandara)

People are born into families by random chance. See the fundamental problem with that argument? Nobody says that because you picked that server that therefore you should be loyal/should be rewarded for being loyal. I doubt anyone would care if you created a character and then transferred off as a level 1 (or deleted your char to transfer, whatever).
The loyalty should come from fighting side-by-side with these people day in and day out. While every other server in the game is trying to murder you as quickly as possible, the people you’re currently on a server with are trying to help/save you as much as they can. How many times have we experienced some innocent guy run up and try to rez us while we’re downed, knowing he’s probably just gonna get himself killed? Fighting alongside each other should naturally create a bond, even in a game, and it has for a great many people. I still can’t force myself to leave Darkhaven, no matter how bad everything looks, because I simply care about my community too much.
