I’m on Maguuma, and I’m considering transferring to JQ. Fights were fun on my server, but with the new match, it completely changed everything. Night time runs are non-existent now. The SBI server has such a large presence at the time I play, that they own all four maps. I see other Maguuma players trying to fight, and then I see 50 enemy attackers just run over them from the side. Someone said in chat that they call that a K Train.

I researching other servers, I found that JQ has a good size night force that I could enjoy. I was talking to some JQ players on voice chat, they said that TC and BG double team them, so it’s no fun.

My question is why do people hate JQ so much? I don’t know if it’s fair to have two other servers gang up on you.

JQ think BG and TC double team them. TC thinks BG and JQ double team them. BG thinks TC and JQ double team them. The reality? All servers get double teamed and join up with double teaming from time to time. Its what happens when you have a 3 way fight. And from BG perspective I personally hate TC more than JQ FYI

I’m on JQ, and even if we were being double team (we aren’t), it would be a good thing, because were in 1st.

I’m on JQ and this is spot on. To the OP I think JQ covers all TZs fairly well I’m not sure which TZ you’re thinking of where we get overwhelmed by TC and JQ, maybe EU, but we do have at least 1 EU guild.

Double-teaming has been a normal occurrence since the first season of WvW.

That said, JQ was at the top but as with most servers became weary, it takes a lot of work to be “first”, and so they fell – but not far – just out of “first”.

The same can be said about most servers, battle weary, without any universal comms in the game itself and many players “permabanned” in TS, makes for very little progress, and the sameness kills many servers over time.

Exhaustion is normal in season, but now some players have it all the time, it’s an almost palpable feeling that so many are on the verge of burning out or just being so negative they aren’t helping the server.

Then some servers fight against the ever-present and never-punished siege trolls who change the scores with a few hours of depleting all supply from their own side.

There are problems with WvW – and server hatred comes from within and without but the double-teaming isn’t going away until WvW is changed for the better.

I have a long posting about an “easy” fix for WvW, but it’s not gained any traction, so same old, same old, and more burnout.

I think that’s what happened on Maguuma at night time. The enemy so large, than the night players got burned out, and stopped playing. When I have a day off, and can play during NA times, it’s a tonn of fun. Once those players leave, then other server takes over.

I’m also on jq, playing during eu, there is rarely a 2v1 against jq, if this would be, we have constant fights, like when tc or bg have their push weeks, which I actually love. Otherwise we have k-training, which I don’t like. Everybody defined fun and hate different, I’m sure everybody on jq hates it when tc is hiding behind their sieges even when they have the same numbers.

I am from BG and the JQ hatred came from Season 2 when JQ led a coordinated a 2vs1 because BG was considered to hard to beat without a double team effort. Now it has changed because so many have left BG WvW that JQ pretty much wins all of the weekly matches. I have no idea why anyone on JQ thinks they are being double teamed outside of periodic occurrences; it certainly isn’t anything like what JQ did during Season 2.

If you’re talking about s timezone where a server is consistently stronger than its two rivals, the “double-team” is the result of the other two trying to stay afloat. It’s not coordinated or particularly purposeful, just a natural result of map politics:

If I reduce the two other servers to just their keeps in EBG, for example, then the only place they have to expand into is me. Ditto if I’ve got enough people to push-push-push constantly they pretty much have to both be pushing me back to stop my “extra” people from ktraining/backcapping.

Basically even pugs fighting whoever’s available to fight and pushing back against the people pushing them will result in a natural “2v1” when one server is riding high.

Everyone who’s ever played WvW complains about “2v1.” When a real 2v1 happens, though, you can feel it. It means constant fights. Not to mention you see two enemy blobs from other servers moving past each other without even a lick of caution. You may not quite notice it right away, but the realization is, eventually, undeniable. Just having getting pushed by both servers once in a blue moon isn’t that. (The thing is, coordinated 2v1 is very hard to maintain for any length of time beyond, like, two buddy-buddy commanders from rival servers deciding to smash up a garri waypoint together. It’s often a huge morale drain for the servers doing it.)

Ignoring server names, you can make the same argument with any Sports Team irl.

E.g. The NFL Bounty Scandal, We don’t like Favre, the other teams definitely don’t want to face Favre, let’s target Favre and force him to sit out of any games due to injury.

Going back to Guild Wars 2,

The only way you can move up is for someone to go down. If the server above you can not go down with just your own efforts, it would be logical for the enemy of your enemy to assist. It’s not to help you out, it’s to help them selves out as well. When they go down, both you and your enemy of an enemy are able to move up which is the objective.

It’s the price of being Successful in anything, you will have a bulls eye on your back and you need to hold off the competition that wants your spot.

1. Our guild just came down to Mag from BG because unfortunately T1 has congealed into stagnant stew of blob or nothing, doesn’t matter if you’re raiding or just trying to roam. JQ does the same thing you’re complaining about, just on a larger scale.

2. Everybody thinks they’re getting double teamed as soon as a group takes an opportunity to sneak in some PvDoor for PPT. Actual 2v1ing comes with a price (looking at you S2 T1 NA).

Sorry but exactly how do you suppose a fight with 3 competitors can ever end up being anything but 2 v 1?

The whole point of having it as a 3 way fight is that at any point it is always 2 v 1 in some manner. Otherwise things would be even more stale than they are right now.

The only other way you could do it is nobody fights and they just karma train around, never meeting each other in fear of starting a 2 v 1. If you want that go EOTM……

Sometimes one really thinks the others are double teaming when the truth is that your side is just weaker/easier at the moment. Sometimes, I think they are picking us because we’re more interesting and 3 weeks ago I was sure the other two servers had a treaty “you can cap everything from us but not our keeps and we won’t attack any of your towers, but help us to get second”. Well, thanks a lot! And it worked, we ranked down because that server did it 2 weeks in a row.

If it was ever against the rules, no one ever told several of the larger servers whose numbers are the only reason they ever win.

If any one of the servers had to go against some alone? They’d lose so badly it would be a total embarrassment.

No, but it’s effective.

It’s also skill-less and demoralizing to all – when you’ve taken everything, you don’t get a thing; little loot, almost no WXP and the “win” feels empty.

A good week’s battle between three was supposed to be an even fight – WvW has been anything but a fair and even fight.

T1 servers match fix to keep the same 3 servers in T1. They have meeting on the same ts with commanders from the 3 servers. It is not double teaming, is just the 3 working together to keep the same servers in T1.

It’s intended by Anet. They wanted 2 weak servers to gang up on the stronger, it just doesn’t end up working out that way at all.

Simply put, I think it’s natural to hate people that are not in your group. Xenophobia is natural perhaps, and the faceless nature of the enemy makes it more pronounced.

It’s the same kind of cognitive dissonance that makes you think the enemy is scum for zerging you down when you’re walking around, but when you do the same to roamers, you don’t even notice it. Well, at least me.

2v1s do exist, but since this is a 1v1v1 matchup, you can’t blame servers for acting for their own benefit the most. Also, due to the nature of karma trains that will naturally gravitate towards paper structures, you may get a “virtual” but unintentional 2v1 situation. For example, let’s say the weakest server gets pummeled and all their stuff gets papered. People log on to do their dailies and see that the weak server’s side is falling apart. What are they going to do? It’s not really malicious but if you just look at MOS it seems very deliberate. “True” 2v1s as suggested above can feel extremely ugly.

But yea, I’ve heard complaints all the time when we’re being 2v1’d when we’re really not, as well as being accused of 2v1 when we’re really just doing well and a lot of our more casual players came out to karma train. There have been a few deliberate cases of targeting from our end though.

As the others have stated, all servers 2 v1 at some point.

You need to tell us exactly which hours you play. One problem with going to JQ is that you might be already going to a stacked time period, and spending a large portion of your time karma training undefended structures. This of course is subject to change as players and guilds come and go and an expansion is on the way.

As to your original point:

I don’t like JQ (especially the non-NA) because they blob more, tend to engage in fights where they outnumber the enemy and rely on their non-NA numerical superiority to out PPT the other 2 servers.

I don’t like BG because previously they tend to be the more ill-mannered server – ruder players both in-game and in the forums (not really apparent any more).

So BG are the orcs/drunken frat boys. (Apparently they shout BeastGate in ts3 when they take a keep). JQ are the Borg from Star Trek with their hive mentality. TC is the liberal arts college with the RPers (and more women/older players from what I have been told) . This of course is a vast generality and possibly untrue though a few folks have agreed with this assessment in the past.

Also guilds have moved across servers and there are some players and a prominent guild or 2 that have accounts on 2 of the tier 1 servers – so each server’s culture becomes watered down as players come and go.

And when all is said and done, I really don’t really dislike anybody. Without your opponents, you don’t have a game.

Why people need to keep mentioning server names is beyond me. You want match-up threads? Then go to gw2wvw.net along with the other trolls.

As for this thread I still don’t see how any competitive game with 3 opposing teams and only 1 winner can do anything but 2 v 1. If 2 v 1 isn’t happening then one server is sat down doing nothing. I certainly don’t remember any server sitting in their keep and waiting all night because they didn’t want to 2 v 1 other teams.
