So I am just trying to make a positive post on the forums. Who is your server of the year? As the year comes to an end many servers have faced each other there has been heated rivalries, very close match ups, and some up sets. Now this is not a who won the most matches server of the year more like a who did you like to face, gave you the best open field fights, kept fighting even though the odds where against them, won even though all odds were against them, or who was respectful and humble even in victory. So who is your sever of the year? Give them a shout out here. Please keep the negative post out of here that is not what this is for.

Well I guess ill get this started and may take some heat for this but my server of the year is IOJ. Why you say because back when I played on DH these guys put up a hell of a fight win or lose they were on the field. They managed a last min victory against DR (2nd place) one time and we played them for weeks on end they never gave up. Props to IOJ I know there may be some bitterness to this but much love to all of you.

If the rule is that we cannot name our own server, than I have to say SOR. I’m from BG. They have put up the biggest fights for us this year. Its sad to see the way they are right now. They have been the driving force of competition for alot of BG players for a long time. I hope that they stabilize for their sake and our own asap.

And yes please do not vote/post for you own sever.

I’m voting my server, the best and only. Blackgate. We the underdogs, despite the odds, have risen up the ranks and won against stacked T1 servers SoR and JQ.

We have the most loyal community and will continue to destroy anyone in our path to Season 1 champion.

Even through the hate, server of the year for me has to be BP. Nicely organized groups that are smart, not idiots like many of the T3+ we’ve played in leagues. Server coordination has to be some of the best I’ve seen tbh. ( Think SE and CORE would agree largely. As I’m speaking pre-leagues here.)

I’d probably go with TC since they are polite whether they are winning or losing. They are definitely the Mr. Congeniality of NA WvW

I vote Mags. the 9th ranked server who fights for the fights played ppt well enough to make gold league, which was their stated goal when the leagues were announced. This is the complete opposite of what FA did which was tank their score so they were in 7th place and could have an easy run of it in silver league.

Also Magummiebears are the undisputed champs in PvF.

I would say Yaks Bend…. Only server I have seen since leagues to start to actually hold what they cap as frustrating as it was, seems they still hold onto the tactics > Karma train.

Otherwise after being on 3 servers, FA/IOJ/GoM…. IOJ has the friendliest community I have been on and I love it here, even though we get steamrolled everyday it’s always fun no matter what we try doing

my vote has to be JQ simply because of one mesmer who helped a FA mesmer with their build.

Definitely I would say the server I had the most amount of fun matched up against is Henge of Denravi. Tons of very talented Guilds and Players, despite the overwhelming amount of players they have on all the time. I have been through many open battles in the small, and large scale perspective and by far have I never seen such an awesome and enjoyable opponent to get matched against. Much love from your favorite Bronze League Server-Ferguson’s Crossing. <3

I laughed sad but true. I know we had a mass exodus of guilds and players leave our server that im sure went to blackgate for league win reward.

my vote is for the last place gold, silver and bronze servers and their players who logged in every day and fought even tho they got [kittened] in their [kitten] for 7 long weeks in a row.

Vizunah Square. The server has been ruling the EU top tier since the game started. They’ve been beaten at times by a number of servers but have come back every single time to win again.

I’m convinced success in T1 is/was (seasons, no more ‘tier’, all that) achievable for a good few servers with enough motivation, but such consistent success over time is incredible. People naturally get bored of the game, tired of running night shifts, etc. Somehow, Vizunah managed to overcome that.

There may be comparable servers in the US zone, but in EU they’re in a different category.

FA. Haven’t fought them in over 6 weeks now, but FA is probably the only server in their bracket with talented players.

I would have to say Yak’s Bend.

They have their own unique style of play, siege kittens. Annoying, yes, but their style helps them maintain very high PPT through their superior siege tactics and numbers.
They may be easy to bag farm, but that can be changed. I see in them a future T1 server, one that might even replace SoR’s ball of death which is on the way out.

Unlike most servers, they didn’t just copy BG or SoR tactics, they actually have their own unique style and stuck to it and that is worth noting.

I come from maguuma, and let me tell you something : it is hardmode. Not only did we have to work, very hard, to earn our place in gold league… but the harshness keeps on going all day every day.

Because every fight against Blackgate/JQ/SoR is essentially a 5to1 fight ( and that’s in good conditions). Because they PvD everything while people are working ( FACT : 100 man just pushed into our garri to retake it against….. 12 ish roamer. At noon eastern on a monday. repeat every day). We start from a “paper position” every day.

Blackgate says they’re the best ? Lies! Anyone can feel invincible in pvt with +4man dps helping against whatever. It’s not like there’s any effort or skill required. Just cruise control to victory. The maguuma way involves becoming tougher and harder to survive against more and more ridiculous odds. No cruise control here.

I vote for the Borlis guys. Out of all the medium tier servers, they are a funhouse mirror of us. Every time we fight them, I get surprises. Their roamers are quite excellent. Like us they have a coverage gap. but they work hard, and I respect them.

High Five! That’s exactly how is on Eredon Terrace, which is at the very bottom of the barrel. I have routinely defended with five men in towers and keeps against 50+ Zergs with Omega Siege golems. I’ve maybe succeeded defending 5 vs. 20 many times in towers, but when they have big siege and 50 or so people attacking it becomes impossible to hold. Still lots of fun, wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Much respect to servers who fought to be in a difficult position for season 1, i.e. Mag and NSP, when they could have dropped to a lower league.

From my perspective in Silver, pound for pound, BP gave the toughest fights.

But, I would have to say server of the year would probably be down in Bronze somewhere. Unfortunately we haven’t had a chance on IoJ to match up with many of those servers in months. But I think a server that’s worked to build/rebuild its wvw population from within, and improve in the rankings is probably most deserving of that title. Maybe FC in that case.

SoS. Cuz no matter the circumstances, they’ll attack whatever they want, whenever they want, and won’t care. They will bash their heads against a keep/tower/camp for hours, even if they never get it, it doesn’t seem to matter to them. They are the most persistent players I have ever seen.

Skills can be learned, persistence is a trait a person has or doesn’t have. Although their play level is lower, they have the potential to be very deadly.

Even though Maguuma is the #1 server in terms of skill, Blackgate is the ultimate #1 overall. Why? Because not only do they have skill, but also the Gold to purchase other skilled players to help them. Anet should just award them the Gold tier title in advance for each season, since they’ll never lose.

I’ll say something nice about every server that I know something about (sorry, don’t know the Bronze League guys well)
JQ = More time in T1 than anyone, obviously they are doing something right
BG = A very diverse server that always surprises.
SoR = Clawed it’s way up from the nosebleed seats. Underestimated for a long time before they hit T1. NA is always a rout.
TC = Polite to a fault, keeps the temples open for everyone
SoS = (n/a my server)
Mag = actually backs up their trash talk. They love a good fight and never take the easy way out.
FA = Very stable, was the best beta server IMHO.
SBI = Rides the unstable waves of fortune with class. Mad respect for long-time members.
DB = Mad props for those that are riding out the rough times. Beastly SEA presence.
YB = If they get Hills you better just forget capping it for the week.
EB = They hit like a tank in open field. Don’t let their ranking fool you, they will chew up and spit out a PuG zerg in seconds.
BP = Tenacious to an extreme. Whether it’s 4 people or 40 on a map, they are pushing hard 24 hours a day.
CD = Grew out of the “Friday Night” diva phase and will get you if you blink. Very crafty and unpredictable.

(Everyone else I either haven’t faced, or haven’t faced since they underwent some ginormous changes in their population.)

Completely dominated Europe in WvW, anytime it mattered.

It would be fun in the future if Europeon servers could fight NA servers to see how everyone would do…don’t know if its tech possible thou…

Can I name two servers? Tarnished Coast and Fort Aspenwood!

Both servers are incredibly stable with great communities. They’ve both been at that T2 spot since the beginning of the year and have remained there. They both served as the T1 gatekeepers, successfully stopping two bandwagon servers from achieving their T1 goals (Kaineng and DB).

Most of all, they took part in what I think is the greatest server rivalry ever! TC-FA rivalry was amazing to experience, from the ingame to the out-of-game stuff that happened. Then there’s this

Henge of Denravi, for their dominating skill in a predominately skill-less tier (bronze) and undeniably awesome yo mama jokes.

It’s obviously Anvil Rock ([D])… Everyone plays on it.
