Server swapping
No. There are still people using server transfers to find a server with a certain event or whatever unbugged, and then they transfer back to their preferred server after unblocking their character progression.
While I love WvW and want what is best for WvW, I don’t think it would be right to harm the non-WvW players when implementing a solution to problems in WvW.
What would work then is to simply make it if you transferred servers recently you cannot participate in WvW for a bit of time.
Non-WvW players shouldn’t have to queue for PvE objectives. Anet needs to remove the PvE crap ( eg: Vistas & PoIs) from PvP maps.
@Richard – We are talking about a game that persists. You really think anyone should be worried about infringing on the play time of a person trying to burn through the game in one week? WvW is an investment of more than a week’s play time. Using server xfer to side step a bug fix is not priority over WvW critical issues. Yes, the week wait to return to a server must stand.
@Kyte – That would be a solution, but I WvW is the sole purpose of end game for many people. I suppose returning a penalty like that would be a choice the player makes, but preventing a player from participating in the primary activity is not acceptable. Thank you for letting us see what the alternative is, though.
@ Scalyon – I have not finished world completion. Are the PvP maps mandatory for world completion?
There are blocking issues in the ~30 areas, and the game has been out about a month. So you’re talking about people that might only be level 30 after a month of playing. That’s hardly people burning through all content in a week.
The main issue is just that your idea is uselessly punitive. Why not just prevent playing WvW after a server transfer until the reset? That way people wanting to genuinely move can do so right before reset with minimal impact, you can’t switch to the winning side of your current matchup, etc. Kyte, and many other players in many other threads, have already explained that idea. I’m sure it’s not perfect, but it sure is better than blocking people from transferring back to their friends if they change their minds after seeing the grass really wasn’t greener.
@Richard – Let us put this into a likely scenario perspective. A group of casual players is leveling up their characters together. One decides to move to another server to see if a bug is not affecting the other server. The next server has the same problem, so she tries a second server. Luckily, the second server transfered to has no bug. What do you think she and her friends are going to do? Is she going to say nothing to her friends? Will she secretly accomplish the task, then want to return to the bugged server? No. All the friends will transfer to the non-bugged server to accomplish the task.
Your issue is a non-issue. Especially if players do not have loyalty to a specific server due to WvW anyways.

free server transfers should have been removed when the rankings came out.
Even before ppl from dark heaven transferred to SBI because we were beating them in WvW, and im sure they transferred to HoD after the rankings. Its not fair to the lower populated servers who will continue to lose more ppl and its not fair to the serious WvW servers who get trolls who like to build rams in stupid places, and give false orders through team/map chat.
Now Richard does have a good solution that does benefit WvW players and PvE players. By removing the ability to enter WvW after transferring we remove said trolls, and the glory riders have to sit out for a week before coming in and thinking they top dog just because they transferred, and ppl who want map completion people can still complete maps.
Personally since im on SBI which is a full server i wouldnt dare transfer to another server with the chance i may not get back to where my guild is, so i plan to stay on my servers and complete maps when they fix bugs, and so far its worked out for me. I’ve never ran into a bugged skill point or vista and i have WvW done because i waited for my server to take what i needed

As an avid WvW player at 90%+ world completion, I completely agree. It’s ridiculous that I have to swap maps, etc just to get world completion. Technically it’s part of the Mists not the world anyway… :P

@ImProVocateur – Yes, you need PvP map completion as well – a “feature” I’m completely against as it screws us PvPers over with folks who queue that have no intention of PvPing in the first place thus preventing others that DO want to PvP from getting in. Broken system is broken.
Lol what you spoke of had nothing to due with you guys loseing you guys have a much larger unimployed population so while the rest of us are asleep and at work you guys have free run of the place. You were losing cause we were able to play on the weekend lol

YOU ARE NOT THE INVENTOR OF WORDS!!! lol
@Thesilentflute – I could not get in from late Saturday night until Tuesday night, because the ques were so long. That never happened before. The many extra in the que came from somewhere. A lot of the people I saw Friday and Saturday were not the normal players. What I said was right. If you bothered to track the points like so many waiting to get into WvW on HoD were doing, you would have known at what times SI was making all its points – between 11PM and 8AM, and between 1PM and 5PM.
We have players server swapping onto Fort Aspenwood to soak up supplies (camping the supply camps and then building piles of siege equipment where it can’t be used, rinse, repeat) and player slots to give their regular server an early week advantage. According to Arenanet that is working as intended… WvW will never go anywhere if people can easily swap servers.
