Has this been done before? A server wide program to teach beginner and intermediate players how to be a disciplined zergling, use a proper build, follow commander, not take supply from upgrading structures, give scouting reports, refresh siege, and all the other things that make pug wvw work.

I do zergbusting and zerging trainings every monday on my server…

some terribly small % of people actually learn the material as they are newer players to that environment, but you definitely need to do trainings frequently if you want to maintain quality.

A few guilds did this on FA way waaaaay back when. No one does it much any more for whatever reason. I think it has to do with Hamster’s experience: a terribly small % of people actually learn. Mostly these days players are encouraged to join a WvWvW guild to learn this stuff.

I’ve seen several commanders give tips on class wvw builds, siege placement and group movement while commanding. Kinda like when twitch streamers do Q&As with their viewers. But it is much easier to just direct new players to join wvw guilds, half the time the new players who really need the help aren’t in comms anyways.

Yeah, I have a .txt document tutorial on my computer which is broken up into the max number of characters you can fit in the GW2 chat box.
I cover:

Stacking – the hows and whys
zerg movement – the hows and whys
positioning for front and backline
Rally chains

“Peeling the onion” – how to takedown bigger zergs ( I used to practice on KoME but now they’re out of my reach on JQ. KITTEN THEM) by “surfing” from water field to downed enemy player to water field. This is to keep a rally chain in your favor.

Combos (typical fields + Finishers. you’d be amazed how many people don’t have a complete understanding of fields and finishers)

and common commands they will encounter everywhere (Stop, stack, bomb, push, regroup etc.)

I specifically train for zergbusting, we have other commanders who run general purpose commanding trainings, and siege placement tutorials

Back when you could advertise in single-server-only cities, we did WvW 101 which was a bit of a lecture outlining what everything was, showed some combos and how to stack, and things like that.

There were then designated mentors to help with further development like builds, understanding group and map flow, tactics and how to kitten situations… that sort of thing.

Used to run weekly training sessions. Turn-out slowly dropped off over a few months to the point that it wasn’t an efficient use of time any longer.

I’ve found that those who want to learn will find a way. I’ve spent a lot of time on training and won’t do it anymore.

Some people just weren’t meant to play wvw.

Yes this is happening on Seafarer’s Rest for over 2 years, and recently it became more organised. There are guilds and commanders that assist on that, explain situations, movements, skills etc in battle.
