I’m looking for a server to switch to for WvW. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking to just join up with the best server.

The first server I was on was medium-high population, and we never had enough WvW players to stand a chance. We were always dead last, capturing 1 or two towers and a supply camp near our spawn if we were lucky, during off-peak hours. So I switched to a high-full population server with some friends hoping it would be more populated. I’ve only played a few times, but so far it seems almost the same.

So is anyone able to list off a few servers that are well known to be very active for WvW? This is now my only attraction to the game, and I’m grinding a few characters to 80, all for WvW

I’m in NA Eastern time zone.

A friend suggested Sanctum of Rall, but currently I’m in Ferguson’s Crossing and they’re just terrible.

So Sea of Sorrows, Jade Quarry, and Dragonbrand? I don’t particularly care which, so long as they are consistently active, and at least doing fairly well (not always placing last).

SoR has the largest NA prime time of anyone I have seen and kick butt during this time.
JQ and SoS also but they also have round the lock coverage which SoR does not have if you care about overall winning.

Have terrible NA presence (not in ability, just numbers)

SBI is on the way down since thier biggest influence guild left so can’t tell you if they are the same during NA prime time.

I have never played below tier 3 so can’t tell you about anyone below this level. All the best.

I apologize to my fellow Yak’s for admitting this, but if you want a server that is constantly populated without bad que times (I’d assume) go to Dragonbrand. Very large oceanic crew and a decent and growing NA crew.

Or heck, we at Yak’s supposedly have a great oceanic crew and could use more people on the NA time so come here

Jade quarry needs NA players. We would love you. Bring your friends.

Dragonbrand is a really solid server for wvw right now (No bias)

We aren’t spiking in tiers from a whole slew of new transfers,
We just have a large dedicated wvw playerbase who has mostly been on dragonbrand from the begining,
We have been winning more matches than we have been losing lately.

Oh, our morale is great too. ;D

Thats a LOT of suggestions! Thanks for all the quick input guys, I didn’t expect so much feedback.

I have a friend or two on Sanctum of Rall so I may end up going there. Nightcapping is pretty annoying on a server that is purely NA players, but then again I wouldn’t want to be on an Oceanic or EU server, only to have a way smaller player base during my peak play hours. I’ll have to think it over a bit!

Sea of Sorrows has a healthy mix of North Americans and Australians. Sanctum of Rahl is a great choice with a bunch of nice people though.

Do you really have to bring the nonsense in here? Advertise for your server is all cool, but defaming/acting superior to other servers isn’t. What ever happened to a little respect…

Anyways OP, if you’re looking for all around coverage(in case you’re like me, playing NA primetime and getting into the wee hours of the morning), sea of sorrows/blackgate/jade quarry have decent numbers that will satisfy your needs in at least 2/4 maps(usually EB and a home Borderland) at all times. Dragonbrand is a fun server too. If you’re looking for straight up NA primetime and really don’t care about oceanic primetime, SoR has a great NA population. IOJ also has a great oceanic primetime(just throwing that out there). I’ve been on JQ, SoR, DB, and have played against SoS, BG, JQ, ect, and trust me, you won’t go wrong.

Blackgates overnight crew is amazing and we could always use more help during NA primetime.

Levian, I don’t have a dog in this fight but I would say you probably need to check out DragonBrand – they have only scored less than 100k in a matchup ONCE and their scoring evolution suggests they steadily hold good portions of their borderlands at all hours – compare that to say SoR whose scoring evolution hit as low as 35 points during the past week

SoR is having to deal with us (Blackgate). Our overnight coverage is prety hardcore too. No offense to Dragonbrand but I doubt they are facing an overnight coverage like a tier 2/tier 1 server can provide.

When do you jump on? and what Borderlands?

I haven’t been outmanned in a long time… unless i jump on too early in the day. During 7pm to midnight EST, we’re mostly full… Except for EB which most guilds tend to avoid these days.

Also what guilds left? I think you may have been misinformed.

RUN merged with us at Choo, and a few other guilds saw some mergers aswell. They all remained on SoR, but just joined into larger guilds.

You want to see what SoR is capable of? Come on tonight, find where Choo is running, and see for yourself what our NA crew can do.

i dont remember the poster asking for great overnight coverage that could put points on a T1 server and Dragonbrand will be in the same match up next week they are this week so if they move up too far they will have issues but they are actually in a great fairly even match up with two stable servers and will likely stay there for awhile – the match up above them also looks stable

If you are EST, we really need East NA players on Blackgate. It is our weak point in our NA coverage and we are actively seeking more players to help strengthen the forces we have there. You would be supported by our outstanding PST coverage the second we all are able to log in

Yeah I am also very confused, I have not been outmanned in quite awhile and I play literally everyday and well into the night (EST time). Come roll around with [Choo] sometime, and none of our larger guilds have left nor will they be leaving anytime soon!

Lol, good point.

Despite them being on SoR, I have become very good friends with the commanders from [Choo]. They are a top notch guild and an excellent server during NA when they have even numbers with their competition. I would still recommend them highly even though we need your time zone on Blackgate.

I have a feeling you were in EB (for some reason many of the better commanders of SoR avoid it like a plague), and possibly not playing during NA prime time. Like other CHOO guys recommended, you should check out where they are and feel the difference by following them, you cant go wrong with those guys. Also try to get SoR server teamspeak, Choo and most other active WvW communicate quite well in it so you would know where you should be. Lastly, BG is moving up to Tier 1 this week, you really should give SoR one more week before you decide to move again.

I did. It was my original home anyway. BG to TC than back to BG.

No hard feelings towards TC. I love TC’s community and love the guild I was in (PiNK).

I am just a competitive person. BG is in a much better position than TC is regarding transfers. TC is a near full server needing A LOT more overnight coverage. BG is a near full server just needing more people during NA primetime. Which one is likely to fill their coverage? I just didn’t see whole guilds risk transferring to a near full server such as TC for overnight coveage, and that is what you guys need.

Sorry.I play the game to have fun. And I am having fun already on BG.

Sanctum of Rall is my favorite just because of the history of the name.

Anyway, don’t come to Anvil Rock. We fight pretty hard but we only won once since release, twice if we count this week. We fight until the end, and we can’t afford fair weather player. If you switch server as soon as you get outmanned and lack a commander, I would recommand a top 1-2 server.

well, defining “competitive” can be quite subjective, if you are referring to switching back to BG to be “competitive” in Tier 1, sure… But if you were on the receiving end of BG’s force while on TC and decided to go back to BG, I am not sure how you can call it being competitive. Isnt it always “fun” when you end up being in first place, at least in Tier 2? It sure is

I recommend SBI. I have been there since headstart and really like it. The population has dropped for sure in wvw, but it is still very fun and a good server. Even with the outmanned buff we go and take things. I will say I notice a drop off starting at about 9 PST but I can usually find a commander in at least 1 map any time of day though- not 100% sure on the very late hours as I have never played them.

If you are looking for a huge server though it seems that JQ and SoS seem to be the largest from what I can tell.. not sure how you will like them but they do seem to have the numbers. — but still you should check out SBI :P

But what I stated is why I switched back. Not the fact that BG is winning in tier 2 but the fact they are in a much much better position regarding recruitment than TC.

Sure, BG may lose in tier 1 and that’ll still be fine with me. If i wanted to join the “top” server, than I would have gone SoS.

If only you knew how many hours we’ve spent making threads and talking to individual players and guilds since launch. We have an entire PR/Recruitment team for the server.
