Friday reset on NA servers currently happens around 7:15, 8:15, 9:15, or 10:15 pm depending on your timezone.

But it seems like many players are ready and waiting earlier than that, even PST players like me. That’s a waste of good reset time.

Would you prefer that reset happened an hour earlier in your timezone?

(Daylight Savings adds a little complexity, but it would be easy for anet to change the reset time by an hour when the clocks change by an hour)

How long ago? Maybe that was the old, obstinately top-down regime. The tone has changed recently.

The last closed thread was pretty recent… Not more than a week.

When Reset changed back from Saturday to Friday, they held a poll on it. Where they stated specifically that there was absolutely no way it would go back to the same time on friday. And everyone pretty much went frothing at the mouth and screamed “YES FRIDAY!!!!!” and completely overlooked that it would have to be later.

Then everyone started complaining about it afterwards. Forgot when it was, somewhere around easter ?

Well the more we bring it up, the more likely they’ll think about it.

National events like Presidential Debates (8pm EST) and Oscars (4pm EST) and World Series (7:30 EST) all start way earlier than reset (10:15 EST).

It should be earlier, but ANET has admitted that what is good for the customer doesn’t matter.

Seems to make sense to me. Yeah it’d be ideal if it could be earlier but with how patches are making sure they have time to take care of any issues sounds pretty smart to me.

East coast peeps that have to work Saturday really got screwed. :/

I think people forget just how diverse the WvW playerbase is. There is no single time that is going to work well for everyone across all the time zones. There’s not even a time that is going to work best for the vast majority. Some people work late on Friday, some work early on Saturday.

Generally speaking, folks hang out with people who play at similar times, so we’ll tend to meet people who like the same reset times as us, but that won’t necessarily be representative of your world, let alone the NA or EU community.

A 6:15 pm Pacific, 9:15 pm Eastern reset means people on the west coast in 9-5 jobs have time to get home. 5:15 pm Pac, 8:15 Eastern means that east coasters can get get in 3 solid hours and get to bed before midnight. Both are good for some people, neither is good for everyone.

I like how you think est gets a “solid” 3 hours of playtime (2 for half the year) and that’s fine, but overlook the fact that pst gets a solid 6 hours of playtime if they get on by 6 their time, well if they get through the queues anyways.

Regardless of how late people work you “don’t” have to be on for the exact time reset happens (and frankly why would you rush home to get on at 6 your time in order to sit in queues created by est players?), there’s a dozen other time zones that don’t get to be on the exact time reset starts either. You log on at 8 or 9 your time like the rest of est did in their time and you avoid the queues, and when est logs off at 12, pst is still playing for 3 hours if they also get off at 12.

Oh right everyone thinks it’s special at reset time having 4 maps filled and queued, meanwhile you’re really only sitting in one map for most of the time due to not being able to jump around, unless of course you’re in the dh/eb ghost town.

The most logical time for NA reset to happen on NA servers, is during the prime time of the first time zone for NA, the most illogical time to run a patch is at the very end of the last workday before going off for the weekend. The fact that Anet cannot compromise with their customers by pushing a patch back an hour is pretty sad, they’re all also in pst time so who cares about est players.

We’ve had these arguments in another thread, they’re not going to change it.

Doesn’t make sense at all. What kind of idiots would push out a patch on Friday right before they are supposed to go home for the weekend? Wouldn’t Monday be a much better day to put out potentially game breaking patches?

And in the 3 years when reset was an hour earlier, patches interfered with it maybe twice?

It’s a bullkitten excuse.
