Should WvW ever have been???
An interesting idea, but it would be difficult to implement, and you would likely get everyone over all worlds flocking to one of the few very strong legions leaving things heavily mismatched. The bind by server does something to stop everyone flocking to the winning teams as they have their pve obligations and friends on those servers, and it’s costly to move.

TY for finding my idea interesting. I’d rather have it be grand to even outlandish, than a small change
Maybe if the Legion populations were listed it would help with balance. I think many would chose on their own to equally divide the Legions. Enough folks have expressed a desire to have “good” fights. Thus, even numbers are the best solution to that end.
Server binding, to me, is a burden. It punishes those with strong populations of PvE and sPvP. A Legion would have no such limitation. We can chose our server mates separate from our fellow Legionaries. As it being a separate form of game play from PvE and sPvP, it should be provisioned separately too.
I guess you could think of it like WvW guesting. Where giving the users more choice and control over themselves would work out much better in the long run.
With time I think this could be fleshed out into a better form of play than WvW is now…..
ur idea reminds me a lot of wow hord and alliance or swtor dark vs light and rem how swtor ended for balance. Still a good idea tho just i kinda like the war of worlds that we have its not perfect but i like it

I seen this “join a legion” concept happen in another game. The exact same problems occurred in regards to “legion stacking”, much like it happens in WvW. I think the solutions required are much more elaborate and require many changes to fix the problem.
If u had a large number of factions and a way to reward players based on population of active population it would balance itself out.

I have advocated that “worlds” should be purchasable by Guilds, and then other guilds could join their alliances, (and need to be accepted).
Sure, that would some strong, some weak, and all that jazz, but there would be more “worlds” and players would not be stuck in them, needing to pay fees to move.
They could also apply a more simplistic system, like a Sports Bracket, that only had 3 day fights, and at the end of the season reset, with the Winning Guild getting a tangible reward.
It would be a better overall system, because it would make the “Worlds” more like sports teams, as opposed to what they have now.

Isn’t that the idea ESO is going with. Universal server instead of separate but everyone picks 1 of three legions to fight for

Sort of. They plan to have everyone play on the same massive group of servers and there will be three factions, but as I understand it the faction you are on depends upon the race you choose when you roll your character. If I remember correctly, there are nine races and three of them will form each faction. If players more or less spread out over the races, the factions should be approximately balanced. At the very least it means that there shouldn’t be a lot of faction hopping.

the big picture here is there is nothing for guilds to fight for in wvw.
I used to run with my medium size guild in wvw now more than half of them play tera the other half are inactive they didn’t care about the server and server rewards.

Have you thought about sending that suggestion to Anet?
While not server vs server, I saw the same thing happen in Aion, one group greatly outnumbers the other on a consistent basis until the they stop showing up to fight and then a ton of people get bored on both sides but at least those sieges were on timers. Anet took it into a crazy and demanding direction. It’s one thing to throw massive groups of random people together to fight(seriously, does it get more arbitrary than a server?!), but then to make that fight a three way that lasts 24/7, I think is over the top, stressful and sadistic lol. Even the fun fights are starting to not be worth it and I’m logging in less.
I’ve said it before, I don’t see why they didn’t go with instanced, large scale battles between guilds and or alliances. Then maybe the fights could be e-sport grade (I wonder if they forgot about that).
