Should guards be tougher?
Upgrade the guards, maintain control of the npc nodes, build superior siege. Good Luck
No. Making the guards tougher would discourage small group play. Imagine if you couldn’t take a camp with a 2-5 man (or solo for that matter). Bleh
Just seems guards are more cannon fodder than anything else- they only really have use when fully upgraded versus a 1-2 players. Upgrading them does almost nothing to help defend the camp – unless you count skritt attacks.

Not tougher, but perhaps add more with the upgrade. I remember holding a camp by myself once using a ballista and Hylek support. Much fun.

I’d probably disagree with this OP. Extra guards, the hylek and a couple of players are enough to wipe a 5-man team, or delay a bigger one until your own forces arrive. Also, we maybe don’t want to make it mandatory for a zerg to have to take the camp because the guard champion is so tough. This would limit the usefulness of smaller teams (and people whine enough about this as it is )

I would like to give upgraded guards one skill, send a message in mapchat with “<location> is being attacked, there are <x> foes in the camp area”.
More humorously “Foghaven Mill is being attacked by 18 players, 6 beasts, 8 clones, 2 summons”

I think they have it mostly right. I do wish mesmers and necros couldn’t bypass the champion buff though. That buff tends to really slow down small groups but hardly effects larger ones.
To be fair, anyone with condition damage bypasses the supervisors buff, not just mesmers and necros. And I thought it would have to do with everyone running skale venom now, these days I don’t see the supervisor with much less than 20 stacks of vulnerability.
Tbh m8 guards are naf nobody should be able to solo them the whole point of upgrading a camp with guards and escorts for dolyaks is to make it difficult and to encourage players to organise not solo or 2 man objectives. I can solo sentries and dolyak escorts, a bit more survivability would be a good thing.

Considering I can solo fully upgraded supply camps even when the NPC has the buff, yay condition damage, guards could certainly use a buff. Sentries should be a challenge 1v1, currently they are free loot. Supply camps should not be solo’able, currently they are. Even towers can be solo’d if you have the patience to solo the door and no one comes to stop you. NPC’s need more abilities to deal with players such as roots, stuns, and snares. They should be a challenge, not free loot.

being able to solo 5-8 veteran guards at a time is seriously a joke. Very poor design philosophy.
You want us to earn even less rewards in Wvw?
They’re annoying enough. Yes you can solo them but it should take enough time so that reinforcements can get into the camp if they care about it. If they don’t defend the camp on any level then they deserve to lose it. NPC’s should not be making the difference in WvW.
It is already easy to solo a camp with just one person. NPCs definitely need to be much tougher. An undefended camp should not be soloable, and an undefended tower should not fall to a dozen invaders within minutes. The ease of capturing holdings, coupled with small maps, is why we’re seeing extensive “flipping” with actual battles (that are not one-sided stomps) few and far between.

And during the entire time it took you to take out those 5-8 veteran guards solo and placed swords on the point, not a single player reacted and came to defend? As a solo thief I wouldn’t bother trying this because I know its not AI only for long because my opponents tend to know how to defend. Even flipping a flag or taking out a guarded dolyak is risky, because I know there are plenty of other theifs and eles getting around who will respond to these things immediately. They catch me when I bound by the Veteran or whatever I could go down immediately.
Yup, my server won’t wait till you killed 5 vet guards.

Iv’e been able to solo a camp, takes it time, and also was able to defend a camp from 5ppl myself, don’t think it’s that much of a problem, but yes, I want them some-more stronger, when me and two other from my guild making camp flip runs, we sometimes run into a fully upgraded and/or almost fully upgraded camp, it just takes a little longer than usual, but not that much, I would like some stronger or “better” camp defenders, so there’s a little more challenge
Someone say game crash must be related to OOM
when you read the log it’s not related to that whatsoever…
Simple discussion; should guards be tougher?
Simple answer: yes.

Yes guards should be tougher and do more damage
I don’t think they need any statistical buffs. I’d much rather see them gain more abilities as the camp is upgraded.
L1 camps could be a little tougher but upgraded camps should be much tougher.
I’d like to see players be able to change the composition of supply camps (eg: more ranged defense, more melee, +siege, etc).
I think all levels of supply camp should include 1+ siege weapons.
Ive seen a fully upgraded camp just slam a small group of leveled up players , just killed em all.

Once.
Today though I’ve solod my first level 1 camp. Grabbed everything but the Vet Supervisor, fragged them all, fragged the Sup, and done.
I wouldn’t necessarily say the guards should do more damage, but they should at least be able to hold out a bit better, though more importantly, I think Yaks are in dire need of a buff. If the only reward for escorting a yak for ten minutes is possibly some extra supplies for your keep (and that’s if some solo thief doesn’t pop in and kill it), make the kitten thing move a bit faster.
