Guild Wars 2

Since a lot of us have seen or heard about that interview in which Mike O’Brien states that there are NO purely WvW players and WvW players are the exception, and since anet doesn’t read our WvW forums, I had the idea to make a guild in which we unite as one force.

Sure we all enjoy killing each other and arguing who is the best server or most siege-reliant server and whatnot, but we all share the common interest of doing these things and wishing Anet could take better care of our gamemode, or at the very least, stop damaging it.

So would anyone else be interested in this? Just to make one unified [WvW] guild to show we exist and have numbers? No rep required or anything…just a way to bring WvW players together in a measurable place. And yknow you can rep if we do guild stuff or to discuss wvw with other players.

Do you mean like the tag or what? Ik there are wvw guilds, but I guess since even a lot of those have to do pve like guild missions just to get upgrades and commendations and stuff, the devs dont consider them true wvw guilds. Let’s make one guild to just unite wvw players in one place and show we exist. A wvw mega-guild. It could be like tts and be multiple sub-guilds under one tag.

And the tag doesn’t have to be WvW if that’s too common already. Could be [XCPT] “We are the exception” or whatever, I’m open to suggestions

Ya know Mike O’Brien is probably right. We probably are the exception. He is also right, if disingenuous, when he says no one plays 100% WvW. We all have to login to PvE world to start our game, and when we log out they boot us to LA, which is also PvE.

PvP players in all games are the exception, unless it’s a pure PvP game. I play MMOs for the PvP. Not the eSports PvP, but large battles that have twists and turns. Many players of GW2 play just like me. They log the vast majority of their hours in the BLs fighting opposing servers, popping into PvE land to farm to support their WvW habit.

Sure we are the exception, BUT we are the ones sticking with this game after the PvEers decide the PvE is stale.

Sure we don’t buy as many gems as the cuddly wuddly little collectors, because there is very little they make for the gem store that would benefit us in any way. But ya know what? I still see WvWers running around with new outfits, finishers, and weapon skins.

So who really cares if we are the exception. That just means we are somewhere below 50% of the playerbase. I guarantee that if ANet lost all the WvWers tomorrow that the game would fold in a big way. We represent too much of the playerbase to lose overnight. We make too big stink in social media, and the storm that would follow an exception like a walkout of thousands of players over neglect of their gamemode would follow ANet and anyone associated with ANet for a decade.

I am 99 % wvw = I do guild missions because I am the guild leader of a wvw guild and we like the hero banners. I spend 30ish bucks a month in gems religiously I convert most of that to gold to pay for upgrades siege , equipment for guildies, and misc wvw related expenses. our influence is spent primarily on wvw related buffs.
If there was a way to earn hero banners within WvW I would not even do guild missions. in order to get a guildhouse in HOT I will be forced to pve for a bit even for that. I am not happy with this.

That´s only one of many statements that shows how far away Anet is from their own game. You can see that in many places, be it SPvP, Balance etc. etc. Making a guild to show something will not change anything because they are simply to stubborn to see things as the players do.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the opposite weren’t true. The WvW game mode is much less lucrative than PvE so WvW players probably have less gold. Which means when it comes time to buy gemstore stuff there’s more chance they buy gems with real money. (And WvW players do buy skins: everyone wants to look good, not just PvE players… just look around whenever a new gemstore skin is released.)

So perhaps Anet would make more money catering to WvW?

I’m 100% WvW player, I haven’t done anything else in the game for over a year now. I’m basically disgusted by PvE, if I want competitive sPvP there are better choices out there.

But the way Anet is treating WvW and it’s playerbase basically made me stop logging into WvW too. This stupid Golem Rush event just pushed it way too far.

What a way to ruin it all. And there I was believing for 3 years, that they would get their kitten together, but it all went downhill ever since the release… :S

Good thing I haven’t preordered HoT yet, it would feel a waste right now.

To add to that, consider the state of servers and transfers. That 1800 gem cost alone has to be a nice amount of income considering the amount of people that are transferring because of the dismissed WvW activity (despite the misleading “Very High” status on servers), desire for change, or that they’ve come back for expansion and want to be with old friends.

Apparently there are a few games with something similar coming out within the year, so there’s something to look forward to, at least.

I only play WvW. Few games here and there in Unrated sPvP to test builds or sigil combinations.

I only have world / map complete on my original main, Guardian in which case I PvE’d but it was a means to an end only. Every 80 since does not have map complete and reached 80 by a few crafting levels and tomes for the finishing touch.

I got burnt out on PvE back when I had to complete 10 master levels upon DaOC’s Trials of Atlantis retail launch. That was mind numbing enough and because I didn’t have enough fun I did a few raids in WoW to include the original Naxx 4 horseman which needed faction complete to enter. Not the baby stuff since the launch of the rest of the expansions…

95% WvW player
5% PvE and Dungeons only out of necessity… for world completion (Gift of Exploration) and 500 dung tokens for a Gift of “X” when I’m making a Legendary.

PvE is also good for testing the New BUGS that are regularly introduced every major patch, builds, skills, and mechanics.
