Siege Golems cost 100 supply each, move slow, and cant be healed or swiftnessed. They are not being used now because of all those reason and they cost 1 gold. I recall a dev saying that supply was the key limiting factor on siege not the cost of the blueprint. Currently, Siege Golems cost too much to use for their purpose however limited their purpose/role is. I understand some of you marketeers are rolling with big pockets but 1 gold per is a lot for the majority of us. This is not something you keep, so we are taking 1 gold for a disposable item with limited usefulness. Golems got over nerfed and they need a price adjustment at the very least. I totally understand they are not suppose to be the best siege item hands down and I want to be able to use them for their specific purpose but it’s too cost prohibitive.

I am blaming all the golem zerg vids in beta!

You can use portals to move faster, and used correctly they can be very helpful against gates or other players. They are expensive, so that’s why they are used sparingly. In most cases they are not used all the time for most fights, but its fun to bust one out every once in a while and take a keep with it.

I kind of disagree. Golems have one real use: commando teams. Want to take a keep but only have 10 people? Golem. Want to take a tower but only have 5 people? Golem. Basically you are spending money to make up for your lack of manpower.

Most people think golems are a front line unit for major battles but that’s not their purpose. They are commando units. You use them when you have few people but want to try and ninja a strong-point. Commando units should always cost a premium.

Golem + Mesmer Portal + invis.

Enjoy the fun with that. Also, 5 golems with support can take down a door in say 30seconds (roughly) and then move on.

One gold cost is ridiculous.

1.6g cost 800 gems which cost $10. Either pay up or farm blood, bones, or scales for two hours to afford a golem.

Like I said, golems have a very narrow use. Go stomping up the Stonemist lord room with 10 golems and the only result will be you’re out 10 gold as the overlooking ballistas wipe you out before 3/4ths of you can even get in 1 swing on the lord. Their hit points melt away super fast once attacked. They are completely vulnerable on the road — if their escort gets pushed back, the golems are all dead.

The only thing they’re good for is sneak attacks on back doors where nobody is looking and you just need to break it fast. You could accomplish the same thing with rams, with the main limitation of rams being that you would end up needing more supply to get through a double-door keep quickly.

Basically, as an avid WvW player, I almost never want to use a golem. If they cost 20 silver I would still rarely use one. They’re kind of a waste because they just get mowed down if the enemy team sees them coming.

Honestly, it is worth the gold coin, any lower price/resource cost would be silly.

no seriously go do them
4 jump puzzles = 8 random blueprints per day per character. Oh and if there’s a maint you can do them all once more. In theory you could get 24 blueprints in 1 day on 1 character (all the sanctums. Then the daily resets. Then a maint happens)

I’ve already got 4 siege golems just chilling in my inventory, and i’ve used two others since I started doing the jump puzzles.
