Instead of repair on siege, why not make siege neutral?
For instance, if a tower / keep is taken the siege could (and should) be used by the occupiers (which functions more or less as spoils of war). Additionally, siege should also have the ability to be broken down into supplies (on a time similar to that of building siege). That way left over siege (such as breaking down doors and/or walls) can be re-purposed. [Also environmentally/pixel friendly! ;-)]

Additionally, if siege is used in the open field it could be overrun and turned against the opposing force — much like in actual historical scenarios. This could provide interesting game-play.

Just a thought. Now back to my regularly scheduled job already in progress.

I know you are just throwing out an idea but there are some details you need to consider first.

For example: The enemy team builds a ram at your tower’s gate. If the ram was neutral you would not be able to damage nor disable it. You could try to jump down and use it before the enemies but it would not end well for you.

The surplus of siege already in the game is over the top… having the ability to share siege between opposing forces (in your tower capture example) … would mean there would be more useless prints that no one can get rid of.

I wouldn’t mind this if we also had some other form of a gold sink/badge sink to get rid of our already useless badges of honor.

I think it’s a neat concept but doubt it will garner much support. But good on you for thinking outside the box. In the open field , I think it would be hilarious (if this was in place) … one side rally’s up in formation 50 feet from the opponent, other side gets in formation eyeing up their opponent, then one side tosses like 5 prints down in between … scrubs flock to build from either side and the enemies basically drop the bomb over top of the prints. Use prints like a carrot could be fun, like tossing a net tag in the middle

I think the only siege you should acquire when you claim something is a waiting Doomroller in a camp. It seems such a waste for it to be lost!

There are all kinds of things that “make sense” in WvW that wouldn’t correspond to a fun game experience. Claiming something shouldn’t really repair it. If you knocked down four walls and a gate to get in, congratulations, you know own a structure that is missing four walls and a gate! Which wouldn’t be much fun.

At best, destroying enemy siege should have a change of giving back some supply. That makes sense and doesn’t break the game.

I kind of like the idea of "no repair" on capture, would be interesting to try a week, to see how it turned out. Just imagine a whole map with no walls left standing after a couple of karma trains
