Siege Ticking Dynamic Event
yes
Yes, or something like it. And also at least double the timers for all siege inside keeps and towers. The timers are having a negative impact way beyond their stated intent. If Anet is concerned about server load caused by siege pieces sitting around the map, get rid of something else, such as jumping puzzles, skill points and other PVE stuff that surely also creates server load and is of little to no value to the WvW experience.

Hmm. They upped it to an hour from 30 minutes in the last big update last week. I think an hour is fine personally. :O

I think the biggest issue with timers being too long, especially in keeps and towers, is sometimes you want certain pieces of siege to expire. This is at times when 1) They’re placed awfully by someone, or 2) they’re almost down, and you want to replace it, but you’re capped. I know personally when I’ve commanded I’ve told people to not tick certain pieces of siege since they were at under 1/3rd health and siege capped.

Arale – My perspective is from someone who will personally build 20-25 pieces of siege in my server’s Garrison mostly with supplies run form camp, with little to no help. I do that because I believe it can make a huge difference in the length of time we can hold the Garrison. After I’ve invested the time and silver to build, I certainly don’t want to see any of it vanish, so refreshing it becomes the dominant activity for the rest of my time on line. Sure, I’ll ask for help, but it’s not to be counted on, and a lot of times people will miss some of the pieces, meaning I have to make rounds looking for what’s been missed. In doing that, I wind up re-ticking everything anyway, since I’m already there. And despite those efforts, I know as our numbers thin, and I eventually go to bed, things will vanish and Garrison will probably fall.
I don’t mean for that to sound like personal whining. I know there are other people who feel the same as I do about the importance of siege and who are willing to do the work, but for Chrissakes, Anet, give us a little time to got out and play, too.
Handin – I agree that poorly placed/damaged siege is an issue. I wish the builder of a siege piece (or maybe their guild mates as well) would be given the opportunity “recycle,” it, or to move the weapon, at least a short distance. I would not mind if it was a somewhat slow process, so as to prevent people from building siege at a central location and then just deploying it to the point of attack at the last minute. This at least would allow us to request a piece be moved to a better location, and also provide an opportunity for education.
