Siege mechanics

Well doesn’t it seem overpowered, if your going to defend a keep and you know an enemy force is inbound within about 10 min. You go ahead siege the kitten out of the keep, and before they attack they flip the quaggon node nearest, and within a few minutes all your siege is destroyed. Then they attack your keep unhindered.
This is something that is recent, I havent seen them do that much, just destroy siege here and there but it takes time with that much siege about 40min to an hour. Never seen it destroy that many siege in a few minutes.
I’ve been in sieges where they enemy controlled the quaggan node for about an hour and we were dwindling in supplies and we had ballistas in lords room the entire time. They lasted the entire siege taking very little or no damage at all. Till eventually the enemy overpowered us and took the garrison.

Naw the quaggans are buggy as heck. Allied or agro, watch your siege in your keeps…. Even if you control them and the storm temple, your siege will deteriorate over time in your keeps via lightning strikes …. It improved for a while there, but appears to be back again …..

Either its buggy or whoever flipped it used an exploit to wipe out all siege, I spent alot of time sieging the crap out of the garrison only to have it all disappear within a few minutes. I’m more towards a bug with the quaggan node.
Ok its not the quaggan node, apparently Anet just recently decided to limit all siege to a 30 min despawn timer, even arrow carts. I just went to one of my other towers and the arrow carts are now gone.

when you say you placed that many blueprint, I have to assume they weren’t all built in such a short time, unbuilt prints despawn after 10 minutes, built siege despawn after 30.
Did something happen recently with the Quaggan nodes being overpowered all of a sudden. About 30 min ago I placed about 15 arrow carts + 7 ballistas up in Garrison. I was going to cycle every single piece of Siege, but they had all vanished. Now the latest siege I placed was about 10 min ago and its also gone. I was informed a Quaggon node was flipped to hostile for a few minutes then was destroyed. Now is it me or did the Quaggan node destroyed all the siege I had spent time placing.
From what I seen from Quaggan nodes is that they randomly strike lightning on either people or siege. Now its random and they attack several targets, but not all targets or siege at once. My Question is how did a Quaggan node that was only active for a few minutes destroy all the siege at Garrison.
If that is the case then In my opinion its overpowered. Before you engage a Keep just flip a Quaggan node and watch your enemy siege disappear within a few minutes. Arrow carts last the longest in terms of despawn, I do not know the accurate time, but I’ve seen it last several hours up to about 10 without despawning without anyone touching it. So… Any Answers did something happen during maintenance or was it just don’t bother placing siege, just wait till an enemy force arrives.
Ok Editing Quaggan Post, apparently Arrow Carts now have a 30 min despawn timer. Just visited a nearby tower that I siege to kitten out of and all the siege is gone. However when I visit another tower that someone had placed siege I dont know probably several hours ago they are still there. So dunno the mechanics but something is going on. So how does siege someone probably placed a while ago, in our borderland which btw has absolutely no one in it. Still appear to be standing while the siege I built about 30 min ago already despawned.

That’s not recent hon … That’s been in place I believe since November/December ,….. And more info … You have 10 mins to build a blueprint to completion …. So finish one off before you start another.

Like I keep saying before, I’ve built siege that have lasted several hours without anyone touching it. Stonemist for example siege seems to last for awhile especially siege built in weird places, where anyone hardly goes to. I’m not debating whether or not that 30 min thing is true cause it seems to vary. So either the siege has to shoot or kill something to last longer. In fact going to test it out at this tower i’m sitting at that someone had sieged up. Going to wait 1 hour to see if anyone touches it and will respond with the result.

Eb seems to have a different set of rules to the BLs …. I’ve had siege stay for days on eb … Not the case on the bl
Usually the safe thing is to assume that complete siege will disappear after 30 minutes without use. There are a lot of cases where it just seems to linger around for hours, but 30 minutes seems to be the minimum.
I suspect there’s an algorithm in place that gets rid of siege engines based on how useful they are. Toss a flame ram in a skritt cave? Expect it to stick around for the whole week (Maguuma’s server actually suffers from a flame ram that’s been sitting in front of their spawn for months! You can go there and see that it’s been spawning children somehow.). Toss down some essential arrowcarts? Expect it to suddenly run away a minute your garrison is about to be attacked.

I’ve been on the wall before and watching the quaggan lightning strike take place with me on the siege piece. It can clear all siege off a wall in less than 5 minutes. There have been numerous times defending bay or garrison where realizing mid-siege that the quaggan node was flipped to the attacker. Only takes about 1 minute to realize you have maybe 1 or 2 minutes to get that flipped, or all siege is toast. It’s been that way for months, although some nights it seems to “strike” more often.

ANet has been saying for months that all siege despawns after 30 minutes of inactivity, but we all know that isn’t the case with the exception of trebs. Everything else varies tremendously, with much of it not despawning after several hours and probably days. The only logical conclusion I can think of is that siege despawns don’t follow any rules at all because Anet doesn’t really have them under control, which would fit the pattern of other things like map population and queues.
