I know it’s PvP area, I don’t mind some combat, I don’t even mind zerg, much. It comes with the format.
But siege weapons in there?
They have insane range, especially if placed on a higher ground. They shoot through walls, behind pillars. If a team builds a siege weapon above a bottle neck, one-two person group can grief opposing team indefinietly. There is absolutely no way to get to them and defeat them. In many cases, because of the range and because damage puts you in combat, it’s impossible to make required jumps as you’re constantly in combat.
Please remove siege weapons from jumping puzzles in WvWvW.
I’m struggling to imagine a scenario in the puzzle where a 2 person team could camp indefinitely. What siege were they using? How many were in your group? Did you think about setting up your own siege?
Here try this. Go in EB puzzle…put some siege weapons in the starter area where players from all servers spawn…balistas…arrowcarts.
Enjoy a permanent lockdown on 2 servers.
In the borderlands puzzles it’s even easier..put balistas/arrowcarts at the waterfall…everyone that falls and has 10% life dies, and they can’t be shot without actually being on that platform.

You know… you don’t really need a seige weapon there. Just have a bunch of thief and just let them heartseeker to their heart’s content.

How ever. Arrow carts in the beast arena has no counter. No matter what other people say. They either got lucky with some incompetent wannabes or are the campers themselves.
Either way. If there is siege camping in the beast arena. Come back in 6 to 12 hours.

What I encountered was arrow cart at the orb in Eternal Battlegrounds.
One above the beast arena is almost as bad, but it covers much less area.
Arrow cart on the orb basically prevents anyone from going up, and by placing siege weapon so far up and above, they had insane advantage. Range of that thing up there bascially covers the whole level.
Sure, if we gathered enough numbers, we’d zerg it but that’s not my point.
My point is, siege weapons create unfair advantage in the puzzle quest and allow few people to grief huge numbers of players.
Again, I am not against PvP in there, just the siege weapons.
The orb? Not sure where exactly you mean by that. Screen shots would be nice.
I haven’t encountered people putting arrow carts where the orb (I assume you mean the purple crystal thing?) yet, but I’ve been thinking of a couple of strategies to get past people who set up arrow carts on the top of the beast room. All you need is a mesmer, to portal a few invisible people through the dark room and maybe a warrior to distract the arrow carts and get them to focus on him instead. If you get a single mesmer up behind them (or enough people straight up), then you can portal enough people up and wipe them out.

Naming it orb wasn’t very precise I guess.
Of course one can come up with strategies to counter these (if you’re lucky you can pull them off with Mesmer focus, but I’m not sure if that’s a bug in mechanics, you also have to be lucky, plus if they’re at the crystal, they are way beyond range) but I believe that in principle iege weapons there give unfair advantage and boil down to simple griefing and I hold strong belief they should be removed form puzzles.
I have a screenshot at home that shows the ridiculous range of the arrow cart when placed on the top of the puzzle, I’ll post it if I don’t forget.

Arrow carts in the Arena have no counter? Please, clearing that is easy mode. Defending the well, now that is a chokepoint.
And I am not just saying that because I helped defend that spot, but also because I helped to kick out other servers camping that and other spots. Personally, a good back and forth in the jumping puzzle between multiple guilds is way more entertaining than zerging doors for an entire night. The Evolution of WvW should be a derivative of that, instead of knocking on wood without end.

The well and the crystal? Nah, that’s easily counterable. Just go for the stealth buff. Sneak up pass the crystal. The well how ever. Once you get hit. Just make a run for it or zerg them.
The arena how ever. Not going to happen.
Personally, i fully support siege weapons, i wonder/suspect will i become anidiot/antidot/doanitt/donut the wonder of evolution.

The well has its limits, but if defended right, it is your best chance. Invisibility will not work there and five men can hold out against 15. However, strategy and cunning will work better than zerg size. The arena requires a less subtle approach. I keep that to myself but it is score 1 for out of the box thinking.
A few map tweaks here and there, may not be a bad idea, but other than that, we need more siege weapons, not less.

theres not a single place in the jumping puzzle where you can’t break the line with the one of the following strats.
1. zerg it up
2. clever use of invis and mesmer portals
3. certain terrain exploits that needs to be fixed.

Yes. Lets break the game rules to be able to counter some thing. Sounds perfectly fine to me.

I went through my screenshots and apparently I only made one and it doesn’t show arrow cart range as I though – I must have attached it to the in-game bug report that I made at the time.

I don’t think it has anything to do with WvWvW itself.
It’s just the path of least resistance and people are taking it, because it’s easy and brings profit. And maybe because you’re annoying others, some people llike it (and that’s why I generally don’t like PvP, because people like that).
