The idea, simply put, is likely to generate alot of hate from the hardcore PvPer side. But with that being said here is the proposal.

Idea:
Create more PvE events that harbor the story of a warfront and place them at points around the maps.

Why is it needed?
As of right now WvWvW is all about laying siege to battlements and towers to “control” points in a map. The problem with the way it works is mainly the fact that smaller groups of people cannot do anything other than the jump puzzles and smaller skirmishes like supply camps (And don’t get me wrong I thoroughly enjoy doing these smaller things to impact how the flow of the WvW goes).

How would it be designed?
Be in a neutral territory of the map
Be rewarding in some form or another
Be doable by smaller groups to provide bigger benefits.

Example:
Having these events, say small villages that are being invaded by BLUE defenders or RED invaders so on and so forth. These villages or points have certain random benefits say Village X’s fortitude. As the events occur if a team takes part in and succeeds in the event. People within range of that event gain that benefit, increased vitality or what not.

If there are 3 or 4 of these events that take place in the map every 5-10 minutes then it will allow smaller groups of people to essentially “buff” themselves to take on a keep or tower with the assistance of the people on the map.

Setbacks:
How will this prevent a zerg mentality?

How will this benefit a large enough group of people?

How will this affect the siege capabilities?

To answer question 1:
If the events are done at different points in the map around the same time frame then a zerg cannot “farm” buffs just to destroy a tower.

If a zerg farms the toughness buff, then perhaps a counter to the defending zerg would go for the attack buff or the vitality buff.

To answer question 2:
If the events benefit all of the people who take part in these events it will give rewards to the people who care about tactics for 1.

It will prevent a mass buff such as the orbs from stacking to make an entire server dominant over another even if the powerhouse guilds were the only ones who actually were responsible for getting them.

To answer question 3:
Siege capabilities at the moment are strongly biased towards a zerg mentality because, lets fact it there are only 2 main fronts at any given time. (this is arguable through advanced tactics of hitting multiple supply camps etc at the same time).

By creating a place that gives a large enough benefit to push a small group to be as effective as a zerg it will prevent people from zerging as much as actually thinking and coordinating attacks.

If a zerg is partaking in an event to go on the offensive, then where is there not a zerg? At their towers or keeps. Proper placement of these events would make it harder to defend.

So main point:
Create PvE events that grant buffs to event goers.
– prevent zergs
– make small groups effective again
– offer multiple fronts to fight other people at
