In today’s article by ANet titled, “Reimagining Progression: The Mastery System” they went into a little bit of info regarding changes to the Skill Point system,

“Because the Mastery training bar completely replaces the experience bar, players who’ve reached level 80 will no longer gain levels but will instead train Masteries. This means characters that have reached level 80 will no longer gain skill points through leveling. Skill points will be added as rewards across high-level content to offset this change.”

So what does this mean for WvWers? Are we not going to get skill points unless we take certain objectives like towers or keeps? Considering SP is needed for superior siege, what impact do you feel it will have? Thoughts or opinions?

I read that as mastery bar replaces experience bar in the 2 pves areas not wvw.

Pulled right from that same article (second sentence in the second portion) “Masteries allow you to progress in PvE by playing PvE content”…… reading BETWEEN the lines tells me it does NOT make any difference to WVW (or PVP for that matter). It’s yet another bonus/change for PVE….. and WVW gets…….?

Not really a problem, IMO. You can still get skill point scrolls from Champ bags. I have WAY more skill points than I’ll ever need.

You have them, now, but will they still be there once your experience bar becomes the Mastery Training Bar?

Considering so many crafting recipes require these – 200 for legendary – I’d be surprised if in the end the user doesn’t have a choice between Xp and mastery even in pve…… That or recipes better change……

You get nothing and you will like it !

Well most likely they wont do any thing to reward WvW players playing WvW. Because then there glorious PVE would suffer from less lag and lot less ppl doing pve.

Need to wait and c what dose this new WvW system brings. Most likely nothing that will bring pve players to WvW.

It shouldn’t be hard for Anet so show Level bar in WwW and Mastery bar in PvE, just as they now show Progression bar in PvP.

It’s in the article, by content. Also these Masteries are for PvE. As i see it atm, in WvW the stock standard experience bar will be present.

It says that you will no longer get skill points for leveling after level 80. It does not say that part of it is only in PvE. It says that in PvE you will get mastery progress but it does not specify that the leveling post 80 skill point change is applicable to only PvE.

I feel that skill points should still be given for every level obtained no matter where you level. The amount of skill points needed for superior siege, ascended crafting, legendary weapons and mystic forge recipes are too many to depend on only champ bags (which are not that plentiful in wvw) or pvp reward tracks for their acquisition. The other problem with champ bag acquisition is that it is rng as to whether or not you get a skill point scroll, it’s not guaranteed.
