god exist if a red poster comes here and tell me “Yeah guys we are aware of this and we are working for a fix that will be released soon” (or even not soon would be ok, if at least they have a begining of fix). I like this game, but too many friends are stoping the game just because of this (and AC war, but it’s another topic). They should come back on time if a fix is released.
I agree, Skill lag really makes me hate reset night when all the worlds are queued to the max. You can’t even swap skills out if your anywhere near the battle. I have a very high end machine and very good internet connection, and have all the wvw graphics turned down to the lowest, and still no difference. I don’t even play my Mesmer on those nights, since she won’t survive if all I can do is spam 1… It’s a shame really, since a 3 way epic battle in the garrison or wherever would be super freaking awesome, but anytime that happens its basically just spam 1 until u die and then spend most of the time running back. Either some coding needs to be done for to fix this or some more servers need to be bought. WvWvW should be about epic battles between 150+ groups, but skill lag makes this impossible to be enjoyed.
At this point the 40-50 vs 40-50 is my favorite for large scale battles, those seem t work ok for the most part. Anything more seems to lag out horribly.
Honestly I wish they could fix this in the extreme so the wvw server caps could be increased then we could have even larger battles….but only if it could be fixed.

Its the single most annoying thing in GW2 for me.. how could something that was at the heart of there promotion of the game be allowed to perform so poorly… large 3-way battles was supposed to define Guild Wars large scale inclusiveness but all we get is terribad performance when smoothgameplay is needed the most…. I tend to avoid any Stonemist battles or large zerg fights even though my RIG is way beyond the requiremtns of this game and I have a stable 24Mb internet connection pretty much all the time.
If ANET know that their game cant support such large scale action why on earth don’t they scale back the caps to a point that it can handle and then create additional instances for those unable to get into instance 1…. maybe its not that simple but it surely would benefit all those who enjoy WvWvW.
I agree with OP. It is getting frustrating. I consider not playing each time I ‘feel’ the lag coming on.
You don’t even have to be near a cool 3 way battle to have skill lag. On JQBL during reset night even at spawn I couldn’t fire off any other skills.
Only being able to use one skill in a mega battle sucks. It would be awesome if you could actually fire off the other skills during said battles.
I agree with Bloodstealer above on one point: They need to scale back the number of players on a map if the servers can’t handle us (I don’t like the idea of instances in WvW though). Being able to only use ‘1’ skill doesn’t lend itself to very interesting fights.

Skill lag is caused by the server. It doesn’t matter if you run 5 or 100.
It has effected me running a 5 man more times than I can count.

Silly answer…. the game promotes large scale WvWvW.. not small 5 man pew pew encounters.. if it cant handle what it boasts then something should be done to correct it or alleviate it.
It doesn’t matter if you run in small groups or 1 mass.. when a large encounter takes place the servers cant handle it… so having 10 groups of 5 all in action at the same time or 1 group of 50+ going at it with 2 other servers.. the skill lag is evident and for many game breaking…
I sense you have an issue with a particular server stomping you… well that’s for your server to be better organised to deal with it.. they don’t cause the lag its a side effect of a porly functioning game, so quit with the ridiculous comments.

Not the point RG, i know your guild hate us, but i can find 3 dozen off screenshots to proove that every servers we encoutered (and they are not so many) bandwagon.
With all that server you “visited”, i guessed you should have noticed that.
So the point is “what Arena is planning about that” … Red guys, we deseperatly need an answer.

Skill lag makes yak escorting hard. When it starts the Yak just stands still. Then it turns out the Yak is actually somewhere else but you cannot see where it is and you cannot cast swiftness from warhorns or shouts or any other means. Generally I can tell if there is a big fight happening like a server fighting it out over SM just from watching the Yak. So yeah, it even effects you if your on your own and there is no one in the quarter of the map you are on. The servers cannot handle the numbers they see. Either they need to upgrade the servers or reduce the player maximum cap for a map/server or they need to do some serious work on their code. Id be all for a reduction in map cap because super mega zerging is uncool.

No response yep … when it’s about cool fancy stuff, you have a red poster in few minutes, but when you talk about serious issues … no one.
I paid for a “epic world versus world battles” but all that is epic, is the technicals flaws of the game. Culling 1st, skill lags now. And i don’t talk about connectivity issues, “Mid air bugs on AC”, and all that things that are so annoying that even if i thought playing GW2 for a while, i’m allready looking for the next one … :/
Played wvwvw with family (4) for the first time this previous Sunday. They were all having fun till we ended up inside Ebays lord room of their eternal keep. It was 3 way fight with AR BP Ebay in same room. Wife quit and found something else to do kidssayed this sucks and left gw to do something else entirely. I dont blame them as the skill. lagdidindeed suck. It is a game eaker.b my touch screen going crazy sry
YES, after 30s, I’ve FINALLY managed to apply Incendiary Ammo on my pistol, NOW to switch to my Elixir Gun…. bleh.

We’re rolling out our first set of optimizations. This is the first in many steps involved in helping resolve issues with “skill lag.” Some players will experience a slight improvement in skill lag issues with large groups of players, while some players may also experience a slight raise in their FPS.
We’ll see.
