Looking here for honest answer.
Is it possible to fix skill lags during big 3 way fights? (especially on eb). I am talking here about server side lag, when it takes 5-15 sec for skill to work.

I heard that chinese version has special wvw servers and they can handle more people on map without any skill lag. (not sure if true).

Is it technical limitation? If so, Anet should encourage people to run with few groups instead of running with 1 big blob.

I really think the lags should be fixed. I would love to have the feeling of a huge battle going on, not 150 guys hammering keys and cursing and shouting bloody murder at the skill lags. Let us hammer keys and shout bloody murder because the fight is engaging.

I agree and this should be way higher on the priority list.

Our commander already tells the guardians to save their virtues for stability since those will for some reason work better most of the time than shouts.

Most non-instant-cast skill seem to be effected, personally my shouts don’t really work most of the time in big fights (or after a delay and pushing multiple times), also the heal skill (consume conditions) won’t always go through, while most of the time the shroud does work ok-ish.

I had some lag today and I never lag, like 1-3 seconds freeze then like speedhack back to the original position… few times.

The 3 lag is server side, the Chinese servers were rolled out a long time after the NA/EU servers, so are almost definitely sat running on superior hardware. I’m a little disappointed that after almost 4 years and an expensive expansion we are not running on better servers.

We all long for the day the 3-way allows you to use skills other than 1,1,1,1,1. Even then a 0.5 second skill can take 4-5 seconds to fire if at all, 2-0 are useless in such situations.

A-net did post somewhere that skill lag is the result of their equivalent to “time dilation” mechanics due to technical limitations. That post was a really long time ago so it will be hard to dig it up.

It is also why direct power builds are more effective then any builds relying on any sort of stacks, regardless if its buffs, debuffs or DOTs. All the stacks take a 2nd priority to direct results in the game.

I think the only realistic and simple way to reduce it is to lower the map caps, which I do not think they should attempt until they bring Alpine BL back because that will make the EBG ques even worse and too many people would rather not play at all then play on DBL. Going with different hardware might solve the issues, but heres a kicker, places in China (and many other Asian countries) actually have a much better and newer infrastructure to support such hardware then places in US or EU, so again, technical limitations.

So as you see on the GW2 front page and the poll, you will already know what the next priority will be, then the Alpine map, then skill lag.
