Small man/roamer servers?
Hi guys, with the recent cheaper prices for gem transfers (due to population increases) I am considering a move to another server. I really want to join the “least zergiest”place. I don’t mind whether the server is winning or losing, Id actually prefer losing, but I just want to play somewhere where I can have a considerable contribution to the server I play for and not run into 50+ player zergs 24hour a day. But I have been playing in Tier 1 since last year so I don’t really know where to go. Can anyone give me intel or suggestions? Would I be right in assuming the lower ranked, the less “zergy”?
Speaking from HoD in t8 (before the change in server matchups) we are definitely less zergy than the higher tiers. You tend to find 3-5man roaming groups pretty often – sometimes you find solo cappers. There is also little to no fighting in the jump puzzles. I personally really enjoyed that somewhat ‘relaxing’ aspect in t8, where you can run from one end of the map to the other alone without getting flattened by 50 men… Hopefully anet sorts out the uneven matchups soon so we can go back to that. FC and ET were the other two in t8. Maybe you’d like to check them out too.

Before everyone proposes their own server , hers a brief overview.
NSP- majority of the time undermanned, we do zerg when we need to but we have some of the most excellent small squads out there, this one for comic relief but check out his other videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQTdtVaZ7jM
HoD – from fighting them, i can tell you they have some very good small mans, great server, always good to fight against them
FC/ET- never fought them, but i can imagine they could use a few extra hands :P
DH seem to be running around with a big zerg, but i did meet quite a few roamers, one particular hammer warrior that ate my face and was very friendly about it, shared the build etc.
GoM- id try to avoid this one if you are looking for small mans
DR- have some very excellent-albeit at times forum warriorish small teams
so pick any of those

NSP for sure. We lost 2 guilds just a few days ago. One dedicated person can definitely make a difference on our server and that’s why you should come here!
As someone who frequently roams in small groups in the lower tiers, allow me to add to Spets’ excellent post.
HoD has a lot of small (3-5 men) roamers who LOVE to kill, which comes at a cost as we tend to chase enemies and forget about the WvW objective of capping the tower and such. -.-
ET is a sinking ship – they have had a lot of guilds leaving recently, so if you’re looking to start fresh, go there.
FC has a decent numbers but they tend to zerg around – haven’t seen a roamer squads when fighting them.
DH/GoM are reaching T5 status in terms of their numbers – we’ve always been outnumbered by them last time out.
As for NSP, they’ve had a few good small-man teams in the past, one of which joined us in HoD. But looking at this week’s match-up, they’ve been holding off SF (who are T5 calibre). Kudos to them though.
That being said, you should join a server who will fight us (HoD) frequently
And yes, you’re right in saying that lower tier=less zergy. Probably a T7/8 server.

For the past few weeks i’ve been running a group of 5 PHZE around the map taking on camps/dolyaks/small groups and there’s been a lot of great action that way. Yes every now and then the zerg appears (usually if we hold a camp too long), but there’s been plenty of 3-10 man groups we’ve run into and fought…. successfully sometimes.. other times not successfully.
I haven’t had a night yet that our little 5 man group hasn’t had a lot of fun killing what we can, and dying eventually to start it all over again.

I’ve only been playing WvW for a few weeks, but from what I’ve seen on Eredon Terrace, every person counts and the people there don’t give up, even against horrible odds. The problem seems to be less a matter of being able to win fights than a problem holding what’s won with thin resources against larger numbers. If you enjoy playing the underdog, fighting in fairly small groups with a relatively small number of dedicated people, you probably can’t beat the server on the bottom of the rankings.
As an added bonus, since the server is a low population server, the only time you’ll see Overflow servers in PvE is during special events and I’ve never been put on a wait list for WvW, even on the weekends. See also the recent ET threads on the World Recruitment forum.

NSP is the only place I would consider.
Doom Strykër [Warr] Doom Ryder [Ranger]
Doomku [Guard] Doom Wrack [Mez]
One of the bottom six servers.
[SNKY]
The tankiest warrior on FC
One of the bottom six servers.
… except for SF.

aaaaaaaaannnnddddd there it is…
SF is not a zerg fest. Many guilds (including eXo) we formed from players who dont like to zerg. On an average night, we will put a 5-10 person group together and hit a BL, (we all despise EB for the enemy zerg factor.) We all have a great time doing GvG battles at the windmill
Even though DH is a zerg fest there’s our party that likes to roam kitten -8 man team utilizing combo fields and crowd control skills. We tend to fight battles when the odds are against us so if you like that you might enjoy playing with us.

Buddy, there are NA and EU servers. Specify.
Legendary counter: Twilight, Bolt, Incinerator, Incinerator Nr. 2, Meteorlogicus, The Dreamer
All other servers who are pit against Fow and Vabbi are a good choice? At least we dont zerg as much as others and are both in the same matchup = less zerg allround. And if you avoid your own zerg you will often find small groups trying to do something.
You are welcome in Fow / Vabbi ^^
All alone in space and time.
There’s nothing here but whats here is mine.
Vabbi and FoW in europe would be a good choice. Almost all map is covered in green (Vabbi and FoW are red and blue^^), the green Zerg disapears quickly, after everything was conquered and you are free to roam^^
Chronomancy works, I am proof of it. Now stop asking me questions. Time must be preserved!
NSP’s Idea of a Zerg, 20ish people headed to the same tower. Except on reset, then we might actually get 40 people. There are far more small man guilds that will do solo or groups of 2-5 than I can name.

I play on NA Tarnished Coast server and the best roaming server I have seen us up against is Fort Aspenwood. Just fantastic roamers able to usually take out groups double their size.
(sorry, I don’t give much wxp)
I’ve been playing GoM since release, and although we are growing in numbers, we are FAR from zergy. I play in the BLs 90% of the time, and we rarely have a zerg, and I run solo/in small groups anywhere from 2-7 people 100% of the time. We might not be the small man server, but there is plenty of small man action to be had, and we definitely have a big impact.
That said, I’d have to agree that NSP is an excellent choice. They have some awesome small man groups, and playing them was a blast.
But in general I’d have to agree with Tocos, pretty much any of the bottom servers is a good choice, as our idea of a zerg is a max of around 30 players haha
@Zumy: back off my name bro!
Tarnished Coast [Crit]
Ehmry Bay is T4. We have tonsssss of roamers/duelists/small groups.
I’ll add though that one of the issues we may end up having is fighting against servers like Fort Aspenwood (like we are this week) which makes entire weeks at a time almost impossible to roam.
However, we have nightly fight clubs. Always fun to go to.
Menorah | Charr Cat | Some Cat Thing
Still running my old RRR build because why not
Well there’s Vabbi.
I might be biased but I think Vabbi is actually beyond small group 5v5 level. It has gone into the solo 1v1 level. :P
