Q:

I’m wondering if the WvW bonuses (experience, magic find, WXP) will be applied exclusively to the 4 “competitive” WvW maps, and not EotM.

I think a lot of WvW players would prefer there be no bonus to EotM, since we’d like this to be an opportunity to get more people into our community, rather than just another excuse to karma train on the game’s most broken map.

Try to think of EotM as a WvW light where its a partly open pvp map where you can pve or pvp.

Any way the kill for points effectively ends karam trains for having an effect on the outcome of the match up passive points gain from holding points for ppt even taking keep etc.. in the EotM will not match up to ppk.

So try to think of EotM for the pvp players who like to WvW but do not like to pve but still needs gold. This should be a boon for though types of players.

I think they need to add in a “chest” rewarded at the end of the match up of EotM and comply remove supply drops for the wining side. Add in a debuff that if you had not been in the EotM map for say at least 30 mins you do not get that rewarded. Make it a real pve map that has openish pvp content with some type of rewarded to work for. Also make keeps etc… something that do not give passive points at all they only take points away when they are lost have most points bast of of kills and open field events.

Please address the question, which has to do specifically with the upcoming changes. Don’t use this thread as a platform for ideas you have promoted elsewhere.

I’m not sure what you are talking about in the first sentence, you need to be clearer. If you are talking about points in EotM I don’t think anyone cares about that. If you are talking about rewards in EotM, the PPK change doesn’t affect that.

If you are talking about karma trains in WvW, those only really happen when one side is heavily outnumbered. In that case, there are very few kills if any for the outnumbered side so karma-training doesn’t cost much in terms of points.

The only reasonable thing I can imagine you are suggesting here is that PPK will encourage more cautious play and therefore less flipping in WvW, which means fewer incentives for zerg-style players, encouraging them to enter EotM. You then say that we should keep the bonuses for these players when they enter EotM because they need to earn gold.

The whole idea that we need a separate WvW-light mode where those players can earn gold is ridiculous. If they want to play WvW they should be able to earn gold doing so. While it might be harder to earn gold in WvW compared to other game modes, I don’t see how adding a bonus for a map that clearly isn’t WvW (because it isn’t played like a WvW map) helps at all.

What wrong with giving ppl the ability to earn gold that in a pvp map? Some players do not like pve at all and the ability to let them play in a pvp maps at still get gold seems ok. At the same time it dose not effect that weeks WvW.

What i was talking about is playing EotM for wining points during that 3hr? match up that would be the main reason why ppl hate EotM krama trans and why some one would hate + effects for drops exp etc.. I mean if your not in EotM for gold then your in EotM for its ppt system. If that not why your there then i guess for some what open pvp but you NEED something to be there to allow for open pvp fights a thing to fight over. In other games with open pvp you tend to find ppl only fighting in zones with something that ppl want and once that thing is out dated or ppl have it then the pvp drys up and it becomes a real problem finding fights.

GW2 PvP does not have boosts such as those from Guild/Hero Banners, foods, gem store boosts, etc.

WvW is NOT PvP……I can’t stress this enough.

Where the bonus applies is irrelevant. A bonus of +15% WXP, +50% magic find, +15% exp. is weak and not a great motivating factor that will magically get everyone to log back in to wvw.

For example, capturing SMC is worth 1,000 wxp normally, so under the bonus its is worth 1,150 wxp. – so with the bonus its actually worth less then capturing SMC and two sentry points (sans bonuses). But someone might argue those 15% bonus wxp add up over time – if you capture SMC 100 times during the event, you recieve a total of 15,000 bonus wxp, which is 3 wvw ranks. The problem is that if SMC is flipping this much EBG has become the new EotM which would probably drive away a good number of wvw players.

The 50% magic find is like having a free MF booster, but how many kills do you get in wvw, compared to pve events like the Mad King Labyrinth or Silverwastes? And I’m sure if you wanted to, you could find a good number of posts talking about how useful MF is in these forums…

A 15% bonus to xp sounds like a nice addition if you want to help level-up a non-80, but since the addition of PPK there is a chance that upleveled players will receive more flak for being easy kills / points for the opposing servers. EotM is already loaded with uplevels and nobody complains there since a lot of people use it to quickly level characters.

Just my 2c on the matter.

No it is still pvp just a different type of pvp its the open world pvp where anything goes. Just because a fight can be unfair dose not make it any less of a pvp format. GW2 has 2 offcial types of pvp the WvW (open world pvp) and Spvp (the stander competitive pvp.) There also a few unofficial types of pvp that players have made the GvG (closer to Spvp but bigger numbers and still in the open world) and the Zerg vs Zerg (closer to stander WvW but with a few more rules as in only guilds from one side can only fight vs another set of guilds at a time.)

I guess you could say open world pvp is not real pvp but then a lot of games who have pve of any type factoring in has no pvp at all and most games have pve as a major factor to there pvp mostly in gear.
