Archeage = Farmville with PK
So, bandwagoner...
Archeage = Farmville with PK
Anyone who transferred to a higher tier server for the reward is a moron. But this chest reward was bullkitten and the key was an absolute troll move by Anet. Why didn’t they just have the Meta reward for completing the season 1 achievements just be the mini dolyak and not a dumb mystery key that turns out to opens up a horrible chest? It was a shady way to get people to play wvw. I play wvw for fun and will continue to do so but even I have to admit I have a very bitter taste in my mouth right now. At least they should’ve made the kittening finisher be permanent and given some wvw tokens. I wasn’t expecting much but I think they dropped the ball and kitten ed a lot of people off

That the first three places wouldn’t have received significantly higher rewards should have been clear to anyone with half a brain.
The issue is that the rewards are so bad across the board.
I have to say, there’s a real problem developing in the populations.
- What difference will population stacking make if everybody can get into Edge of the Mist anyway?
- Will people care about scores if the rewards are rubbish?
I look forward to seeing how this all pans out.

Server A has 1000 people
Server B has 300 people
Server C has 200 people
EotM 1-5 – Full for A/B/C
EotM 6-7 – Full for A/B
EotM 8-20 – Full for A
Most of the players on the overpopulated server won’t have anyone to fight against. They’ll get their choice of 4 empty borderlands or an empty EotM map.

If the population imbalance continues I see the only places you’ll find players during M-F is on EotM or on OS doing GvG.
Sure you’re going to have those that like upgrading towers to T3 and escorting yaks but most will be drawn to the more balanced maps and playstyle which doesn’t go against Anet’s design philosophy.
Why are people still surprised when meta events don’t have valuable rewards?

Maybe they are new to the game or are part of the crowd that refuses to listen to mmo vets who have seen this trend time and time again and who called it out the day the season was announced. At least, their QQ threads are entertaining.
Because censorship is the most important part of the MMO business.
is the WvW season 1 rewards worth the cost of transfer ?
I don’t understand this attitude, you’re essentially giving ArenaNet a free pass on lazy content/rewards. Why wouldn’t you want better rewards??? The more popular WvW becomes the more likely they are to develop content for it — if everyone had your attitude WvW would die out fairly quickly (see: Warhammer)

Most WvW players will not go there. If you have been there as part of testing you get a bad after taste of PvE on this map very quickly… (of course subject to change, but right now, I’ll pass).
WvW players want to play with their team mates where it matters. And WvW players already have an overflow called PvE.
If people go often there depends on the rewards in the end, which are bad as usual. And of course when it’s realeased to finish an extremely grindy meta achievement.
Sure the map will fill its niche, but that’s all. But it’s not a solution to WvW queues in prime time.

I’m a WvW player and I never go to Pve, I instead go to spvp when in queue lol
And the reward is not the most important thing for a WvWer, the good fights and the fun are the basic of it, it’s not Pve where most people like to farm for no purpose
PvP? Yeah, viable queue activity. If it were about killing and not about caputre I would go there more often, too. But right now? Not my cup of tea.
But as said WvW players already have a full game of “queue” activity.
Anyway, EotM? Will probably only pull crowd as said depending on the rewards. And that crowd will not include hardcore WvW players. Maybe it’s more for the PvD crowd or farmers?
We’ll see how it turns on once it’s released. But for now I don’t even bother testing it again.
But to be frank, I feel a little burnt out after the league where I gave everything. First time it felt competitive with a goal in sight. Same boring matchups again? Right now I’ll need a break. Maybe time for some Dota2 again.

Why are people still surprised when meta events don’t have valuable rewards?
I was still new to GW2. I came into the season late (week 4ish?) after finishing leveling and had to really rush myself to get the meta outside of work and a social life. I knew SoR wasn’t competing for the win anymore, but I pushed on, defended, zerged, etc. for as long as I could manage in my available free time.
I figured we’d get something to commemorate the season, at least. I don’t even feel like my presence was even acknowledged. I received substantially more for karma-training on a single night than this.
If ANet’s goal was to make Season 1 as ultimately forgettable as possible, they succeeded. But that’s all they succeeded at.
I transferred from bronze to silver and the WvW scene was worth the transfer.
Transferring to the top of gold would have been awful.
