We were top server just a few weeks ago, now we can barely hold a handful of towers. Are we destined for T8? If that’s the case, I’ll probably just transfer. I play this game for WvW and running around with groups about half the size of the others servers isn’t fun, unless repair bills are considered fun.

If you’re even pulling +100 PPT in tier 2 at any point in the day, you will settle far higher than tier 8.

Probably not. Out of all the servers that had a mass exodus, only ET fell to T8. Unless more guilds leave SoS, it could settle in T3.

Everytier has a server that outnumbers the others but alot, just keep transferring to green teams if you dont want that to happen.

If SoS is destined to fall all the way down here, it means we’ll finally get a balanced T8 with fun matchs… But i doubt it will happen… SoS might stop before hitting T5.

HoD came close as it fell to last place in T7.

With your implosion coming after the switch to Paid Transfers you will probably settle in nicely in the T3-T5 range. Your PPT in T2 currently is much too high for a total freefall to T8.

With how they’re fairing in tier 2 right now,
And how I’ve seen other servers recently do in tier 2 compared to the same servers in tier 3,

I would say that as long as SoS does not lose any number of more guilds,
They will probably settle pretty nicely into the upper tier 3.

I wouldn’t worry. Been very impressed by SoS this week and can say that you guys (TSYM in particular) wiped us more on reset night than the entire previous week in T3. Think you guys would be very strong in T3 as long as you don’t lose more people to transfers.

No disrespect to T3. I love Mag and DB, (didn’t see much of yaks) but you guys just don’t have the numbers or the coverage that SoS has I feel. Not just that but I know you guys (Mag at least) have a hatred of moving together in large groups and from what I’ve seen from SoS, they manage to get every single person in their BL to form one coordinated ball and walk over everyone’s corpses

I hear Maguuma needs more guilds.. join them they are desperate for more people!

With the amount of WvW players SoS has, and also there’s no free transfer anymore, I highly doubt that SoS will fall to T8.

Honest opinon, just transfer if WvW is what you do. I left SOS well back before the free transfers. Glad I went to JQ because they are probably the most stable server of all right now. The reason I joined them was because of their history, look at their finishes in rankings since the beginning. They have always been a high ranking server, unlike most others. WvW is volatile and things could change. But JQ is sitting nicely for a long time coming I believe.

Speaking from the perspective of the SBI fall out of T1 I can say it depends on how people react. There can be a snowball effect that your statement that you will just transfer demonstrates. The more people that feel like you do and can’t/won’t hang on and stick with the server as it falls, the further you will fall.

We had enough good core players and a strong community and the foresight to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And seem to have stopped our slide at T5. With a very good chance of going to T4 we think. (probably not much higher than that)

So it is up to the players that remain if that light at the end of the tunnel is your new home in a middle tier….or if it is a train coming head on and a fall all the way to the cellar..

I think what happens to SoR in the following weeks will be very interesting. The way things stand now it seems likely that there will be a merger of SoR and Kain (with Kain getting the transfers) in order for there to be 3 evenly balanced “stacked” servers in T1. I hope for SoR’s sake I am wrong..but seems to be lining up that way.

Until Anet finds a new way to score these match ups, 24/7 coverage will be king….and it seems to get that you must stack. It’s a shame in one way. And good in another as it gives the GvG experience many players seem to want.

Y’all can have your T1….I like my fights on a smaller scale with a little breathing room in between myself. =)

IMHO, While it is unlikely SoS will fall to T8, it is very likely that the rise and fall of servers will continue as long as the “super server” constructs in T1 continue to attract players.

The funny part is: I don’t know how someone would be attratacted to play in server where you can get HOURS of queue…

You guys are most likely going to settle down in T3. Don’t panic. ^^

Not only are you going to tier 8 but they’re already startin a tier 9 for ya where you will find a fair match up by squaring your last 3 active players in a free for all.

T3. Could rebuild and re-enter T2 in the medium term.

At the beginning most people expecting SBI will drop to T8 or something, but now we are doing good at T5, and may head back to T4 in few weeks due to we still have lots of quality players who commit to fight for SBI no matter which tier we are. I don’t think SOS will drop to T7/T8 like Hod/ET since the paid transfer may save your life, in my opinion T2/T3 would be your new home.

As an FA player, I have spent months in T3, risen into T2, and have now had the chance to see SoS in action. I agree with the majority opinion here that if SoS holds on to its remaining players, it will be a T3 server, maybe T2 in time.

I would encourage all SoS to hang tight, don’t transfer. There is life beyond T1. New tiers mean new play styles, new situations, new enemies, and new strategies. It can get pretty dull spending months playing in the same tier. Your server is going to shuffle around for a while until it settles into a new equilibrium. Think of these coming weeks as an adventure shared by the SoS community.

For comparison, FA’s last T3 match ended with a score of 313k against DB’s 162k and YB’s 125k. Unless all the guilds jump ship from SoS there’s no way you’re dropping to T8.

Not that I disagree with you on the difference between HoD and JQ,

But assuming that your server’s WvW population is stable is a huuuuuuge mistake. This is the same for every server in the game. I cannot count the times I’ve seen guilds on various servers talk about how loyal they are and how much server pride they have, only to bandwagon off the server to the next project three weeks later.

There is nothing “special” about JQ other than the fact that they have kept themselves from going through any really bad rough patches that actually test the commitment of their guilds.

Well…we’ve been through some rough patches, including an exodus of a few notable guilds within the first month or so of launch. But yes, I agree that alot of WvW guilds seem to be very fickle. Thus far however, the core guilds on JQ have remained completely loyal ( I speak of those that started on JQ at launch).

Anyway, as to the topic at hand. No way SoS drops all the way to T8, my guess would be T3-T4 as a few other posters have guessed. They’re being far to competative in T2 to expect a drastic plummet.

The risk is that other guilds transfer off SoS. If the transfers have stopped, you’ll settle somewhere in T3/T4. If more guilds transfer, you will go lower. There’s no chance you fall to T8 now that free transfers have ended.

Honestly,
Just looking at how SoS is doing in tier 2 right now, I am very confident that if no more guilds leave the server, they will either win tier 3 or be a close and very competitive second to DB.

SoS would walk over tier 4 with its hands tied behind its back though, I cannot see them falling that far unless the exodus isn’t over.

I hope not. When I was a wee little Kaineng reading about SoS, their achievements were something I didn’t think we could ever attain. SoS deserves it’s accomplishments and laurels (of which there are many) no matter where they end up. We should all /salute to them.

Having said that, no matter where they go, they will be back.

Less QQ, more pew pew. The furthest SoS will go is T4, though I’d wager it’ll be T3. SoS is too large to fall far.

We are T2.5 material right now. If WvW gets progression to ascended items somehow and our veterans return to SoS we can be solid T2 server. We can keep it fun in T2 right now and T3 we can win.

No really the word skill keeps slipping out when people are discussing WvW and there is no correlation between skill and WvW ranking. None. So althought the main point of your post was that SoS was not not going to tank to T8 they reason you provides is full of kitten and completely invalidates your post. Try again.

As others have stated, if your done losing people you are not going to fall to T8 and with free transfers over it is pretty much likely that your population is stable.
