I spent the last 4 – 8 hours commanding on EB. Trying to hold Stonemist for IoJ.
Eventually we were close to penetrating BG’s main keep’s outer door until a massive portal bomb flashed on my screen.
Once the effect was over, most of my comrades up to the bridge were downed or dead. Next thing I see are 30+ BG pop up all over the bridge on my screen.
Good game so far. Keep up the good fights! Hopefully I made it interesting for you when your trebs break down our walls, but we are still able to put up a good fight against you!
We’ll take that castle eventually!

What we are seeing happening here with SOR dominating is 2 things.
1) Sometime in the middle of last week, we really evolved our game and coordination as a server and began putting alot more emphasize on doing the right things, like keeping scouts and escorting yaks. These are boring jobs but we make sure the players doing these things are praised in teamspeak etc so it makes it a little less boring. Also Rping with your yak helps. We are simply not as lazy as last week overall.
2) Our amazing community really helps the turnout and greatly mitigates player loss to new games like planetside 2 etc. People simply love playing and hanging out here, whether its just in map chat or the server teamspeak.
This if fantastic especially considering it is not a result of any mass transfers but a pure evolution of the server wvw skill.

This… I’ve been playing both PS2 and GW2.. but SoR community is why I still rock up to WvW every night.
The Painted Norn of [WILD]We Intercept Lost Dolyaks
Speaking of disgusting tactics, someone was abusing the invulrnerable spot behind the southwest supply camp next to a spawn, in order to portal in an entire army behind SoR holding the camp, on saturday i think. Dont know if anyone got a screenshot.
SoR (SPQR specifically) held that camp for a good 20 mins while being attacked by one world from the west keep, and another world from the east tower, and then from behind via the exploit.

Somebody has a character on the IOJ server that went into a freshly captured Stonemist Castle and wasted 150 supply (30 for each Flame Ram). Supply is needed for repairs and upgrades. It takes a significant amount of time for Dolyaks from Pangloss and Speldan to reach Stonemist, which is why such actions are particularly troublesome.

Someone transfered server, or used a second account, to waste all of our supply right before we were attacked. That’s why the supply depots in Stonemist Castle are surrounded by useless siege equipment (used to attack doors).
I suspect they were also the person who bought cannons (can also be seen in the pics) to occupy our structural upgrade build slot so we couldn’t buy upgraded doors.
A similar thing also happened the other night at our keep, when someone bought guards and built a useless trebuchet in the middle of Overlook, which took our supply level from 900 to 200 immediately before we were attacked.
It’s happened far too often recently for it to be all coincidental. And the timing has been far too opportune for our opponents for it to be “someone trolling”.
So much better this time around, IoJ. So happy we’re getting back to the level of competition we were at pre-Halloween event. As mostly a roamer/pugger, I’d like to give a salute to BP’s and Hero’s commanders. When I see you folks log on, I know things are about to get better.

So the bad behavior is that when SM was facing imminent capture, a player spent as many of the supplies as possible?
If I’m right, then this is not an exploit and not bad sportsmanship, but a valid tactic. It’s called the Scorched Earth strategy (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorched_earth).
If I’m at a supply depot or tower being overrun, and defense is hopeless, then if I get the chance I stock up on supplies and buy a quickie improvement, mainly to diminish the reward that the attackers get.
This is no less fair than killing yaks.

If this was a fake account wasting supplies of supposed teammates, then it is absolutely reprehensible and the player should be banned for life if caught.
It happens before the attack, as they stated quite clearly a few times. Obviously sabotage.
Glad we don’t have too much of these in our low tier lands, it happened once before to us (someone bought patrols draining the entire SM of supply just as an attack started) and it wasn’t pleasant.
Well if you think it’s only happening on IoJ it’s not. Drop the finger pointing. SoR had someone buy patrol’s @ Garrison while we were being pushed by 50+ IoJ/BG on both sides of our Borderland.
SoR didn’t come on whining about it. We dealt with it, and moved on.
Also this post isn’t meant for complaining about it. However it’s meant to show the person who complained about the SM pointing fingers another server did it, that it isn’t just happening to them. All servers have people who do things like it, not just 1.

1) Player buys a second account for $60 and funnels gold to his second account in order to buy upgrades at an inappropriate time and build siege to waste an enemy’s supply
2) New player trying to help buys an upgrade not knowing he’s actually hurting his server.
3) Troll builds a whole bunch of rams to incite server riot in hopes of getting said server mates to jump on the forums and make posts calling out the other servers for cheating.
Two of these is highly likely, one of them is not. Let’s put away the tinfoil hats.

BGs coverage is lacking this week which is what it is mostly about.
So on Saturday, I’m on Blackgate BL, and we’re getting pushed hard. At one point we had the outmanned buff. So someone suggests in chat that a few of us go to Lion’s Arch to try to recruit some people. I was one of the few who went to recruit.
After spending about 15 minutes waiting on the overflow LA, I finally get to my server. Immediately upon entering I say in map chat, “All available people please report to WvW, we greatly need help.” Right away the flaming begins. A few minutes later I have a conversation with the leader of one of Blackgate’s largest Aussie guilds. He informs me that they are essentially boycotting WvW until Anet does something to address the lack of rewards for participation. I spoke to the leader of another guild who said basically the same thing and added that the culling issues and disappearing siege are really ruining the experience for a lot of the players in his guild, so they wont be playing until it gets fixed. These are two guilds that regularly participated in WvW and did quite well, and now they refuse to play.
My friend list used to list a bunch of people doing WvW. Now it lists a bunch of people running fractals. As someone who only does pvp/wvw, I find this all to be very sad. C’mon Blackgate, step it up. Follow the good commanders, ignore the terrible ones, and if no commander is on, DEFEND DEFEND DEFEND.

Yup, outmanned on 2 out of 3 borderlands with no queue for ebg nor the 3rd at 9:30est 6:30 pst on a saturday evening (NA primetime) is whats REALLY the issue.
Of course we had that in tier 1 too: im shocked more of the NA guilds dont give BG a look as a server to move to:
some of the reasons include:
1) the BEST EU coverage across all NA servers in DEYS alliance, with guilds like HB, RK et al. They are unstopable during their primetime on weekdays.
2) solid oceanic coverage with guilds like urge and thai
3) No Queues except on perhaps 1 map even during the height of weekend NA primetime
4) for past 4 weeks NA primetime typically been outmanned on 1-2 of the borderlands despite which we have managed to spend 3 weeks in tier 1 followed by a winning week in tier 2 last week. (you can get your whole massive guild in all at once!)
Unlike other servers who are trying to get the impossible to recruit EU or Oceanic guilds, we got em! What we REALLY need is NA guilds!
I am not going to get into the specifics of scorched earth that were left out of the wikipedia entry. I will say I whispered the player who made the rams with our supply. It was frustrating that commanding SMs defense had my upgrade being used though we had two workers hired.
The upgrade itself being bought makes me happy that someone donated the money to be bought and something was being built. What I didn’t like was that the supply was being taken away from stonemist and when we started the battle we went from 210 supply to around 50.
All three of us (SoR, BG and IoJ) hate the idea that we can lose territory from the delays of being stuck in an overflow, so even if I get killed by you and your commanders from time to time, I’d rather have you all in your rightful place in WvW representing your servers than being stuck in overflow so have your guilds meet in a city other than LA or map that has no overflow. LA has become unreliable as a gathering spot for WvW. Don’t use it anymore.

Didn’t mean for it to be a random post. Meant to throw that up on Saturday cuz people have been constantly asking where all of the people are, and this is the reason that two large guilds who will remain nameless arent participating right now.
Its awesome that you’re doing well atm. Hopefully if i have time i can hop on later and join the ruckus.
Not to sound condescending or anything, but by now I think most people know that weekends are for the most part irrelevant. Matches are won/lost based on weekday coverage. So while it sucks being outmanned on the weekend it has little bearing on the outcome of the match. It is kind of lame that people choose to boycott the game for bugs that effect everyone in the same manner, but it is what it is.
Just wanted to say awesome fights all around. More importantly for nearly two weeks now its been civil and overall respectful, each server has its bad eggs and all-around kitten but for once their actions haven’t managed to incite full-on flamewars. I don’t think we’ve had a thread locked yet! At this rate I don’t wanna go back to Tier 1 which felt like 3 weeks of being raked through the mud.
Well we just got hammered in SoR borderland. Despite a garisson loss I am proud of the fight we put up against two big zergs who did not seem to engage each other til the end.
Weekends are probably when servers have closest to even coverage, however thats 2 days versus 5 week days where you can really see the holes. IoJ and SoR seem to have very different prime times during the weekdays. Blackgate seems to have better week day coverage as a whole atm. All in all it’s a pretty fun matchup, compared to SoS who had maybe 4 to 6 weakish hours and the rest were very strong.
The way it looks we might be stuck with this match up for a while. =D

You know whats kitten I was swimming around minding my own business. Then I see at the temple of storms a SoR commander. I activate my awesome and attack. This was a long fight, She was an elamentalist And I’m more a tanky guardian. So we did not do much damage to each other. But in the end I outlasted her and on multiple occasions almost killed her, but she would mist away and heal. And it would restart. Eventually though I was getting close to killing her again, I could taste her blood. Then her friends showed up and owned me. Man, I just really wanted to kill her, All offence you SoR can be a real pain in my rear. What I hate even more though is when you get downed by some people, then some random dude who wasn’t even there comes and finishes you off. DUDE YOU DONT EVEN DESERVE THIS!

Still good fights all around. Over the last week, we´ve seen good guilds from both sides adapt to our strategies, and we have picked up a few tricks on the go.

I was there, Ioj has always been a good fight. As with any wvw player, I hate to lose a fight, but the last two weeks I have not been so effected by it, as I accept that I am facing players who are at least my equal.
I got 17 badges from that fight, and only gave up 4 at most. That is a trade off I can live with.

I would understand if it is strategically right but.. I think they always just want it for the sake of getting it.
I’ve been stuck in a few 10 minute fights against SoR Eles lately. Haven’t been zerged mid-fight yet, but I don’t think any of them have been CDS.
Also, you run the risk of being zerged when you play open field. :/ Can’t really complain.
I had a long 1v1 against a d/d ele from BG with my staff ele. It was a good fight although I did have a slight advantage and by slight advantage I mean that I may have won if we had fought for an additional 20 minutes. :/

One should always try and have control of the enemy supply camps. It is ALWAYS a good thing. Without supply the enemy cannot upgrade towers/keeps, it cannot build defensive siege and it cannot build offensive siege.
